Thanks for your video mate, just bought myself a series 5 it has 100,000 miles on but i`ll still do it. i had a series three blanked it off with a piece of plate i made and completely removed the cooler with a piece of pipe. I had it 17 years and never had any issues.

Was amazed how much it improved the fuel economy, just blanked EGR on my Volvo S80 D5 got 68mpg that’s unbelievable saying it’s same size and weight as the L200

The catch can filter is a easy option also. Very easy to connect and disconnect. Been doing research.

Great video fella, very well explained thanks. Ive got a 2010 mitsubishi shogun & I've had an absolute nightmare with EGR & DPF problems ! Cars done 130k so it's done some miles but probably started when DPF wouldn't regenerate!! So I took the EGR off to have a look & not surprisingly it was totally blocked! Took off the inlet manifold and same again, totally blocked !! The Shogun also recirculates the engine breather gases from the rocker cover, straight back into air system & through the intercooler & back into the inlet manifold! Crazy ! The result of this madness is, hot sooty exhausts gases coming through the EGR valve & mixing with moist engine breather gases, and being forced under pressure into your inlets & cylinders ! This also clogs your injectors!!! Result can be catastrophic if you don't get the things checked & serviced !! In my humble opinion modern diesel engines are simply designed to destroy itself internally & its an absolute disgrace when you & I spend large amounts of your hard earned cash , for a naff product. Re route your engine breather into a catch can & blank the EGR valve off before your engine destroys itself. But this video is a much better option, & a very clear & concise explanation. Yeah they were the early days of my channel, EGR/Adblue/DPF re maps are the way forward…. I can’t stand modern diesels they are utter rubbish Hence I got rid of new stuff and have a petrol ML350 3.7 V6 and Isuzu Trooper 3.1TD as basic as it gets. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏼

Cracking info, as a car/biker tech-head it makes perfect sense to me. . Just ordered an agri tune for mine, I'll set it same as yours D5. The pronunciation is Agri (Agricultural) Tune. I previously used the 'crude' common rail fuel pressure adjustable boxes in my 4 previous diesels, C220 Coupe, C220 AMG Sport, BMW X1, Mazda CX5, FIAT Doblo even, (model specific boxes obviously) with no issues and VERY noticeable power gains, but as this box cuts the turbo in earlier it's a much better unit, you're entirely correct. 👍 Me and my Aussie wife chuckle at ya Geordie crossed with Ashington accent. I'm a Geordie, but she being Aussie she chuckles 😃. 'Mitsybooshee' class love it 😀

Yes I found D5 to be a comfortable setting to have it at, for power, economy and torques. Those early boxes did the job, but didn’t do your HP Fuel pump or injectors any good (In the long run, not over night) Ha ha yes may as well be speaking foreign at times, brilliant really as all the southerners can’t understand you, but you can understand them, gives you the upper hand lol.

Got my egr thing today my mpg has went from 22-26 mpg to 35-40 mpg with current diesel prices it will pay for its self in no time cheers 🍻

Great channel buddy. I have a 2017 L200 and not only do I love driving it, but my wife does too. Great ride height, fast, responsive in lower gears and she loves the automatic-only downside is the stereo unit that is fitted. It is an absolute nightmare. Has anyone ever replaced them with something more functional?

Thanks for your positive comments 👍🏼 Assuming your 2017 S5 has the old style kenwood unit in? My 2019 S5 had the all in one Mitsubishi unit in same as the S6 bar apple car play been hit and miss, this was a fantastic upgrade Mitsubishi did. I have known people fit these units with ease, get a second hand unit and surround and it’s just plug and play….. or you could change the Kenwood unit with a more upto date after market unit.

I know it's a contentious subject, oil catch cans, but I've researched as much as I could, and I totally get the benefits of aving one fitted. Yes they are definitely a good idea lots of benefits of having one fitted. Unfortunately having to put her up for sale it’s my pride and joy, but needs must need a lot of work done to the family home, so family comes first over borrowing money, seams pointless a car sitting there getting used once a week. It’s very much my pride and joy and with all I have done would say it’s better than new almost, 3+ years makers warranty left and just clicked 10,000 will be a cracking buy for someone

Ah don’t worry will still be more L200 content to come, plus I service a fleet of them. It’s the last thing I want to do, but demand is high and prices are good, i doubt many traders polished up ex work vehicles will come close to condition a TLC mines had. no VAT and 3 years and 9 months makers warranty with 10,000 can’t see much out there that comes close…… so if you know anyone who admires your truck pass my details on, it’s truly a one off like yours is 👍🏼 Thanks for your kind comments….. yes the videos will keep coming, and no doubt I will end off getting another L200, for now the Mercedes ML will have to do

Hi got the delete module and now fitted it great. Just a quick question about re-gens ... you say you used to count them ... how did you know when it was doing them there isn't an indicator. On my last Audi I ran an app into the OBD port that showed me when a re-gen was taking place ... I havent got a clue with the L200

You just know with the L200 they idle higher, even down the engine tone you can tell, even down to exhaust pressure. But yeah I did use my Autel to confirm same way you did with the Audi.

I've had an EGR delete cable for my series 5 for a few months now - but was reluctant to fit it.. Anyway, finally did and wish I'd done it sooner. 10 mile commute to work on country lanes, saw a frankly unbelievable 46.3 mpg average this morning. 44 mpg yesterday. Plus the annoying dead zone from 1k to 1.5k rpm has virtually gone. Engine seems smoother and rev hang is less too, weirdly. Only downside is the chunder when switching off the engine.

Yes they make a big difference, stage 1 re map and EGR delete is the best preference. You should get the tuning box made a big difference to mine, watch my latest video lad selling his tuning box

@@CarAddictGarageNE yeah. As a quick fix for throttle response they are good. But not a silver bullet. At WOT they lose about 20hp max power. Plus richen up the fuel mix to about 18:1 which isn't great. But for a 50quid mpg improver not bad.

the emmissions v the better mileage, so less fuel burnt overall (that creates more emmissions ) probably cancel each other out anyway :) happy days

I did these videos years ago, I only used the cable as my truck was under warranty, since all the series 5 are no longer under warranty, I would strongly recommend a professional stage 1 re map and EGR mapped out also 👍🏼 Thanks for watching

Great video 👍I have a 17 barbarian from new that’s done 26k . Full service and always run on Shell Advance . Do you think the EGR module would be worth fitting, basically for anti soot protection and prolonging the life of the truck to see me out 🤣I have no need for any other vehicle as this little beauty does everything I need.

Only reason I used the Tuning box and EGR module, was at the time of recording my truck was under warranty, so wanted something that can be easily removed. But now all the Series 5 are out of warranty….. 100% advise Stage 1 ReMap around 200+BHP and while on usually part of the cost have the EGR Mapped out as well 👍🏼 Regret selling mine I really do 😭

Fook the guilt trip with the EGR NOx bypass. If ya car is more economical as a result of fitting it, ya burning less fuel for the same milage so it evens itself out, whilst keeping ya carbon expulsion engine components cleaner. BTW, there's no wastegate on the turbo, it's variable geometry incase anyone is puzzled. Great video

VNT or waste gate, it’s the same context what I’m referring to on the actuator movement been dictated by the tuning box. Like I keep telling people don’t get hung up on every word I say…. This was the early days of the channel, takes a lot to get to grips with remembering what to say, doing recording, speaking on camera and so on, words get mixed up, easy mistake something I had never done previously.

Sorry for the long comment but I thought I would explain and see what you thought. I have a 2017 Series 5 Auto Barbarian, I have owned it for three years I bought a delete wire having watched your video and the success you had with it. I drive like miss daisy, but unlike others I struggle to get 30mpg. I bought the lead mainly for the potential increase in fuel economy. I fitted the adaptor lead to the mass airflow sensor and immediately noticed an increase in MPG, averaging around 38-42MPG, a massive increase. I understand the wire contains a resistor that effectively fools to ECU into thinking it is -18 degrees (or similar). This in turn, keeps the EGR valve closed. I noticed that the engine sounded louder and a distinctive engine rattle, sounding like "pinking". This occurred generally upon light acceleration around 1700-2000RPM. It occurs at all times, mild /freezing temperatures, engine cold /hot. As it started shortly after I fitted the lead I decided to removed it. The pinking noise stopped, I refitted it again and removed to confirm it was definitely the cause. I have now left it off. The seller suggests as you do that the MAF input to the ECU is for the EGR valve only and has no bearing on fueling etc, no adverse effects on the running of the engine etc. Clearly something has changed when the lead is fitted, my question is; does the MAF input just control the EGR valve, or is that potentially a fib to get you to buy a lead, or is the rattle just caused by the slight increase in combustion temperature caused by the EGR being permanently shut. If it is, what can be done (if anything) to counteract it. I have read online that fuel octane additive would help, as I have bought the lead to increase fuel economy it does seem pointless if I then either have to buy super diesel or use fuel additive. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Yes mine also had more diesel clatter (as I call it) when EGR is de activated, really the lead is a crude way of doing it, the proper way is to have a stage 1 re map and EGR mapped out….. but unfortunately getting re map voids your 5 year warranty, these boxes and leads don’t as they can be removed without trace. That’s the main plus point to them, fact they are easily removed.

hi mate . over a year now since you fitted the egr delete module on your series 5. Have you had any problems??? I have a 19 plate series 5 and I'm thinking of fitting one of these? one question I have is . you say in the video that if it goes back to a main dealer which mine does for MOT and service it needs codes wiping to hide the fact its had this device fitted. is this easy to do or can anyone do it?? keep up the good content 👌

I sold the truck unfortunately, but no faults have been forwarded onto me…. Plus I know people who have been using these for years with no issues. Also on other engine I have de activated EGR have done 100s thousands of miles fault free. Really you shouldn’t have any fault codes unless you mess about with wiring with ignition on, even so you can buy a cheap as chips code reader to erase codes, literally less than a £10 these days. On a different note have a look at videos on vehicles from dealerships/service plans, they take your money and so SFA, absolutely shocking what I’m seeing on a daily basis. Thanks for watching 👍🏼

Ner it’s just a precaution, just make sure ignition has been off for at least 10 mins and no doors been opened or closed.

Just worried about loss of power with catch can. Not sure how it would behave when towing.

Not something I have ever fitted or had dealings with, the odd high performance vehicle yes, but not a standard diesel

The EGR valve on 4N15 engines actually closes during a DPF regeneration, not opens. Plug a scan tool into your OBD2 port during a regen and see for yourself.

No absolutely non, it just simply alters the temperature readings from the MAF to ECU

Tbh it wasn’t the best did the job for keeping the warranty clear, and definitely upped power and improved MPG. But give it such a diesel clatter when cold, for me would be a professional stage 1 re map and EGR mapped out…. Look on one of my last few weekly vlogs had S5 L200 in removed the boxes and had it re mapped…. His actually selling the tuning box and EGR cheap if you want his details

Yes you can, but ideally you want the EGR mapped out or you will trigger EML. Usually best time is get the EGR mapped out while having stage 1 MAP that way it’s like a 2 in 1 deal

I’ve just bought 1 they egr modules for my l200 it’s done 71k miles 66 plate have you had any problems with the push button start on 2 separate occasions I’ve pressed the button the green light came on button and just made 1 clicking noise it did start eventually after a few times

@@CarAddictGarageNE think the problem was I hadn’t pressed the brake pedal in enough I’ve got the auto box I have also charged the battery as well I’ve not had it long so had probably sat a wee while before I picked it up and I’ve not done much miles in it I’ve got a works van and been doing 72 hours a week since I got the Mitsubishi Got the egr module the day took 2 minutes to fit might get the engine hydrogen cleaned

Yes the auto have a cuts off for stating have to press the brake. With the EGR mod you will probably be fine won’t need cleaned

It’s hard to say as depends how the trucks are driven, i could get more than 36MPG out my manual 2019 manual L200 with the EGR I could get 43MPG no problem. Plus the main point is you stop all the intake getting clogged up with carbon. Definitely a win win

Provided it’s a series 5 will work perfectly fine. Would say strip down clean out, but there is nothing wrong with simply deactivating it with the module

Can’t really comment on the TDI one as I didn’t use it. I really did like that like that box I had as you could adjust it from A1 to E9…. So everyone can have it set to how they like it, D5/D6 was a sweet spot for mine. There is something people use to sharpen up the throttle response, idrive have used one very good, but wasn’t keen on all the wires and little screen having to attach to dash.

Not really sure that would be connected, you have the bulk head/ firewall separating the engine from the cab…. Sure it’s not just your heater stuck on hot?

No non whatsoever, UK MOT only requires a Smoke PPM test. EGR does not affect that. Only way your could fail is of the EGR system has visibly been removed

This was posted over 2 years ago, I have no link or connection to them. People ask me where I got it and that’s where I got it….. plus my first response is now all S5 are out of warranty your better off getting a Stage1 Remap and EGR mapped out at the same time

Dose anyone habe a link for one of these ? I had never heard of it being an issue until last year I had no power, my mechanic sorted it, a year on and it's doing it again. I have had the truck since new and it's only become an issue since it went over 110000 miles

@@CarAddictGarageNE yes you speak about something that goes on the air intake that makes the engine think that its working in a cold climate so turns the EGR valve off.

Heyup buddy ive got one of these 15 plate 100000 miles on. Runs lovely but i have issue, diesel going in my oil, was told it was DPF had it cleaned and checked pressures all correct but the problem is still there any ideas where to look next please

Hi thanks for watching. First up the DPF physically has nothing to do with diesel dilution into the oil….. what the issue is failed DPF re gens. Basically of the truck starts doing a re gen, and got slow down, come to a stop, or anything that stops the re gen process, all excess diesel that’s injected to make the re gen happed is them washed past the bores. So only way to combat is make sure you regularly do non interrupted DPF re gens.

@@CarAddictGarageNE Thanks for your reply pal, it’s that simple? Only thing is I have no idea when its regening i had a ford tranny custom and you saw it coming out the back but this nothing. I’ll just live with it then keep changing the oil. Maybe it’ll not come up as fast as it seems to be, thanks again

You want it between 2500/3000 RPM constantly for 7 miles ( so early morning or late night) no slowing down it speeding up has to be constant…. Ideally use cruise control, and usually sit at 55/60mph nicely in 4th gear. There never is usually any indications a re gen is been carried out, should be no smoke or anything. Just make sure to regular change the oil 2/3 times a year

There are all different people who deal with these, remember I posted this video over a year ago….. I’m not sponsored or have any links with them, I simply purchased a tuning box the same way everyone else was on the L200 owners club, and found it to be highly affective so I recommend the product, as for whoever makes them/ dispatch’s them has nothing to do with me. Absolutely no affect for MOT as there has been nothing tampered with on the EGR, you don’t need to physically touch it, or do anything with it. It’s just an added on wire to the MAF. Emissions wises diesels are just a basic smoke test, so has zero affect on that

I found a big difference in MPG, but that’s all down to driving style. Tuning box also transferred drivability of the truck

To be honest if out of warranty, your better off getting a stage 1 remap and EGR mapped out (delete)

No there was no negative issues, just the remap saves all the extra wires, as I also ran the tuning box (that was also good)

@@CarAddictGarageNE i got offered a price for a digital reamp and it landed at 700 eur...i went for the same setup you did in the video...cable and a box...470 eur...plus easy unhuk when its time for inspection
