Hello Dave. Maybe you could group all your repair videos into groups, such as VCR repairs, TV repairs, Cassette deck repairs, etc. Would make finding your older vids much easier, because you have such a lot of quality videos from years ago, right from the Seabreeze record deck, all of which I've watched more than once.

I like the old long versions as well as the shortened versions. The long versions are like coming home to family and having a good conversation during a relaxing dinner. Always catch an additional helpful hint during them. I can see the advantages the shorter videos have for some people, that just want the "fix"... Thank you. Great video!

That's why there is a fast forward button. I used to do long and short versions long versions for patreon viewers and short versions for everybody else but it did not help drive up any patreon subs so I haven't been doing that if the patreon subs were to go up and make it worth my while then I would do it but with $130, 000 subscribers on KZread in maybe 100 patreon subscribers it's hardly worth my effort for the hundred bucks I make from the dollar a month that most people contribute on patreon so for the hundred bucks a month it's not worth my time to put out two different versions. Now things were the dramatically change and all of a sudden I had 700 people sign up on patreon telling me they wanted to see more and a longer or different version than I would really more content for those viewers but because it's basically been a bust I haven't bothered. That could change if the members went up then I would certainly entertain doing more exclusive content but for the hundred bucks a month I make it's not worth my time to do it. When I toyed with doing content on patreon I initially thought I could do well with it but I heard loud and clear from people saying that they wouldn't pay or patreon was a criminal organization and the whole nine yards so I've kind of let that slide

Not sure why folk are complaining vids are too long, can't they pause and come back later or don't they have a concentration span over 10 minutes any more? (Says the guy with 51 tabs open with videos I plan to "come back to" and then found something else cool to watch!) Personally, the videos I mostly watch both on your channel and others tend to be anywhere from 25-90 minutes although probably an hour is what I'd consider "normal length" if it's something that holds my interest like vintage/classic/just-plain-old electronics or cars. The feature length ones are usually if it's something a bit special (3 of the first 10 recommended videos are 60+ minutes, one being 98 minutes). These bite size are definitely a good way to get your older content "out there" to the young'ens though, just make sure they run over 10 min otherwise I don't think you'll see any revenue on them & God knows you deserve the money for the effort you put in ;) (Also, as per zx8401ztv, not sucking up lol just being honest. If I felt you made crap I'd tell you as well!)

I'll still be shooting longer videos. The short ones are new versions of older videos. A revenue generator for inpatient viewers. Even on the long videos I don't generate much video when people skip right through to the end. If the video is 60 minutes and the watch time 8 minutes I make the same as an 10 minute video. The mid roll ads aren't showing. This has another detrimental effect that people don't realize. If advertisers buy time and their ads are inserted in the middle of the video, but people skip the middle section and those ads don't get shown, first I don't make any money and second since he hadn't shown the advertiser gets mad and pulls their ads. As a Creator I get to see the stats and get recommendations from KZread. So really long videos have a negative effect if they're not being watched entirely. So when I put up a 60 minute video and the average view time is 10 to 12 minutes I'm basically wasting my time because there's no advantage financially to me for posting a long video. I'll still post them, but the short ones tend to get more views, and more views mean more revenue from those initial ads that play at the start. In the end that's what it's about, generating revenue. Now with the IRS taking a big bite before I even see anything at the end of the day need to generate more views to make up what I've lost.

@@12voltvids I tend to not skip skippable ads on your vids as long as they're bearable (i.e. not 20 minutes of rubbish, they're actually not too bad mostly as Google seems to have got my interests pretty down-pat by now!) One thing I'd like to know, if you have an answer. Does pausing a longer video & watching the rest hours or days later still get picked up as it's been watched to the end? Because I do tend to pause for distractions around the house but if it chops off the view time I may just start noting the timestamp and let the video run out then come back to it when I can! (Gotta work the system as much as possible as can't donate but do like to try and maximise your cut for the stuff I watch, just as a courtesy more than anything since your effort is appreciated)
