Those concrete barriers at road Atlanta are no joke. Everything just stops when cars hit them. Surprised a track with such high profile events like petit le mans does not have safer barriers, Sand traps, or other safety initiatives. It seems every video you see of a crash at road Atlanta starts with a slick track and the car hitting the grass and losing hardly any speed before hitting the wall.. Glad to hear the driver walked away.

I'm so glad you are alright and walked away from the crash. I'm so sorry to see this car smashed up, it was one of my favorites in the US Time Attack scene.

A common mistake when a car starts to lose rear end traction is to lift off of the throttle. This transfers weight to the front wheels, giving them more traction and reduces weight off of the rear wheels, losing traction. Generally, this causes the car to continue to spin. In this case, that probably would have been the better outcome as the spin would have pushed me more to the right. I'm not sure what I should have done after touching the grass to save it to be honest though.

Why has this happened? Was it a problem with the suspension? or damp track? Good to know the driver walked away safely!

I was there and watched all of this happen, and watched the car being taken off of the flatbed. A painful sight. I'm glad you're okay and hope to see you back out at the track again soon!

Everyone is a critic I know, but I wish the driver commented on the drive... I see full throttle in their just before the spin and wonder why.
