When I heard Misty in Roots on the Peel Show I knew I wanted this album. I loved Ghetto of the City in particular. No Internet, and record shops were sparse back then, but I used to get all my reggae vinyl sent from a brilliant store in London. And so, Live at the Counter Eurovision joined my collection. And it is still there today, along with some other greats. I really wish Spotify would pick up more of the vintage stuff - even the Peel Session versions. There is a whole generation of us who would appreciate it!

The greatest live Reggae recording in my world , still as relevant as the day it was released 💖💛💚

It's such a shame this album isn't available on streaming services. An absolute classic. Deserves to be heard by everyone. A truly ground-breaking British reggae album.

I say: "Its such a shame that streaming services rip off the artists and that music lovers nowadays let greedy multinational corporations deicide what to hear." F+ck your streaming services, seriously. Streaming is the death of the music business. Back in the days we had a handfull of major labels for stupid radio crap for the masses and thousands and thousands of indie labels for everything else. Today we have three or four big streaming "services" who control everything and pay nobody except giants like Joe Rogan and some top ten artists. Pure cultural imperialism of the worst kind. Everything reggae and roots music fights against.

Trueley see them live at bradford university early 80s no1 on my list top reggae band .

I had 13years old when listen this band for the first time, now i'm 52 and i still love them. Reggae of that time is the best of all .

This album belongs on the Ark☝️.

I was burgled once in 1979 and all my albums were taken, it broke my heart, all my Reggae gone. 24 Messiter house, Copenhagen Street, Barnsbury estate, London N1. I was squatting as I was homeless for three years, I brought all the music all over again including this which was new to me and is still one of the best ever. Forgive those who stole GOD BLESS ALL.

I had my entire record stolen years ago. Ironic because the thieves received the Psalms by Prince Fari and many other recitations of the Word of God which speaks of the fiery judgment that is coming upon this entire creation. Only in the Christ is there safety. No where else is it found. No other name. For those who can hear this: we no longer know Christ by the flesh but we know Him in His resurrected form. He is the Word which created all things. The very Word of JAH, the mystery of the Christ. Let the Word dwell in you richly. Every knee, even that of the Adversary Lucifer, shall bend in the DAY THAT IS COMING, and everything in creation shall confess that Jesus of Nazareth is Lord....even the stupid, the heathen, and those born of Lucifer will know in THAT DAY. PRAISE JAH, THE ANCIENT OF DAYS. Kiss the Son for He is the Lamb, the Lord of lords, lest you be taken out of the way for He is coming to convulse the heavens and the earth. All that is not of Him shall perish. But all that is of Him shall joy and sing in the bosom of the Father.

It’s crazy to think that this album was performed in 1979, the year I was born and I have been grooving to it since the early 2000’s. My “cousin” brother who is into Jazz music, and who is much older than me, from Soweto introduced this album to me when he noticed that I was crazy about Bob Marley and Peter Tosh’s music. He still has it in an LP record which he bought in the the early 80’s even though he also had it in a CD format which he gave to me. It is the best live Reggae Album for me. Much love and respect from Upper Kemet (South Afrika)

This album made Misty. I heard it as a teen and I was hooked. One of my favorite reggae bands of all time. Ireee stuff!!!

So heard this first on John Peel and happened to travel from High Wycombe to Sheffield to watch the football just after its release. Went into a reggae shop in Sheffield city center and asked for it. The dread serving me said they didn't have it in stock but if I came back in 45 minutes he'd go home and get his copy to sell me. I bought it then and still have the vinyl now. My most played album of all time.

@@myhipslovechocolate8142 Yep they were. Bus from High Wycombe to Heathrow and the bus broke down. Driver told me to use the motorway phone and talk to the traffic police. They called Iberia who were waiting ready for me when I got to the airport. The Bus driver, stopped right outside the entrance so I could get there on time. Nowadsys, everybody would say it's my problem.

First heard this album over 30 years ago. Has not dated at all, and I don't think it ever will. Terrific grooves and Rasta old-testament-style lyrics give this record a timeless quality. Righteous judgement shall come...Brimstone and fire...Hatred and oppression Never before have such heavy lyrical matters been so gloriously grooved upon. Power to Misty in Roots. Possibly the best British Reggae album ever.

Seen them back in the day Swansea uni 1980, massive fan one love

A mate gave me this on cassette and thought it was the best reggae that I had heard. I then got to see them at Glastonbury 1987. I will say nothing more than that.

one of the best live performance of any musical genre ever....66years young now and still listen too this regularly ever since its release. first time hearing it was over a sound system in kensington market the day of release. An album that took the UK by storm and championed by John Peel.

Saw misty at Bradford university back in 1980 .always be my number one top band .one love misty...

I first heard of Misty In Roots back in the late 70’s when they supported The Clash at the Hammersmith Odeon, as it was back then. I was only about 13 and had never heard live reggae music before. It was a series of gigs to support Kampuchea. I was hooked immediately, they were so good and the music was infectious. I went to see them a couple of years ago at the town hall Islington where they headlined a Ska night. Still as fresh and amazing all those years later.

Deepest, hardest roots I’ve ever heard! Someone mentioning that this was the greatest thing ever to be record. I am willing to agree! One love, I’n’I, Jah Rastafari!

Thanks to John Peel I knew Misty in Roots. Such beautiful music and awareness. ❤❤

This record is mind blowing . It has it all -great songs -fantastic drums and bass section great guitar and keyboards. Timeless classic. I cry every time I hear it . See Them a Come grabbed me the first time I heard it.

This music of Misty in Roots is music for All times...Words are pure wisdom, and they are playing like Gods hands are playing, they sounds like they are resonance box...and others can tune to them...They are fantastic, I simply adore them!

Hypnotic juicy roots and rebel poetry. Perfect music!

Nothing much to say this music is timeless best reggae album of all time

Excellent performance. Fire burn Rasta.

Glastonbury was about 6 can remember them performing down down down i the ghetto of the city!

One of the finest live albums I've ever heard, of any genre. Have had this since 1980 and still it sends a chill through my heart when I hear it. Thank you Misty in Roots , respect.

Discovered this band a little over a year ago now, when Follow Fashion started playing on my Spotify out of nowhere. I was already a massive reggae enjoyer, and now i still can’t stop listening to their music. Misty In Roots has got to be one of the most underrated Roots reggae band ever! Spotify is such a W when giving rare reggae music like this. Literally every song on the Roots Controller album is perfect.

I remember hearing a Glastonbury on Radio 1 in the 90s when Misty in Roots were in a reggae tent playing live and all the old punk-era DJs were wandering around trying to find the tent

30 years ago first heard this album. Righteous music. As good today as it was then.

You know what "live and direct means"? At Uni I was on the events crew and roadied for Aswad on the L&D tour. The soundcheck consisted of repeated calls for "more bass!". The engineer said he always had to start with the bass turned right down, or he'd run out before they gave up asking. Best gig I ever did, and a top bunch of guys too.

Omg ,I was at the same gig It was in the percy g building ,I still remember getting stoned cause there was so much weed smoked, even if you didn't smoke it you got stoned as the hall was full of the smoke,brilliant.

Classic. Misty played Bournemouth just after this classic album came out - and after the gig recuperated in the then "Shades" night club - "Studio was very very cloudy..." as it's said...

MiR lived in Zimbabwe early 80s. Would attend their shows. Top, top group

I saw This fantastic band in Exeter around 84. During a long drawn out instrumental finish to one of the songs, I nipped down to the bar. Two of the singers were down there too, playing on the pinball machine smoking huge joints.

not just the best album but the best live reggae concert in our time, just try and compare and judge yourselves!

Non better I was very fortunate to in Sweden with this wonderful band, who played roots music not for money but for the love of Roots music, all the other UK reggae bands went after money MIR never did , great group from West London composed of ones from different parts of the Caribbean who met and rehearsed in Southall formed their own People Unite Label was there when Blair peach was killed by the British Police same year Maggie Thatcher won elections BIG up MIR great great roots band

Our collective roots bear tribulations on different levels. Yet, we are still One.

My Uni year abroad in 79/80 and my mate lent me this on cassette. Soon became a worthy addition to my fast-growing love of roots music.

Wonderful mesmerising music I first heard in early 80s pin mill thanks to Pete Vice for introducing me to it

Oi oi top album, got this album one night at the Clarendon in Hammersmith after they played! Great night out -was a free gig for me as I used to help out putting equipment away after the gig. Happy days.

This band reminds of a reggae band called ( Splash from South Africa ) they were banned and sentenced to six years in prison ( Robben Island for singing political songs ) Steel pulse later dedicated an album to them. Misty. I love your sound

Not a crying shame. It’s a blessing in disguise. If something is readily available it becomes common, like tap water. This is a gem. Value in the deepest sense
