Mehldau's interpretations are like nobody else. How he views the keyboard and tunes are completely unique. Nothing like him. One of the best voices of modern jazz.

There's alot of "advanced" harmonic things going on here. Symmetry...parallel motion. Voice leading allowing to expand harmonic boundaries. Just a mastery of the harmonic language and putting it into a poetic justice is what I think Brad is doing. A jedi master here.

Oh man. What he does. Again. And again. Even to a tune that I must have listened to eight hundred times or so.

Bradley is progressing well in music harmony class. His understanding of music theory and voice leading is above average. The class always enjoys his interpretations of the songs we're working on. Bravo Bradley! Looking forward to see what you can in the next term.

No you don't. It takes a sea of time and the reward might be not what you expected. Just learn Musty in standard chords till you can dream it. Then add your personal flavour, and chunks of Brad-taste in it. The song will become yours.
