Mistakes and Lessons Learned on a 24+ Hour Travel Day with a TODDLER

Today we flew from Vancouver, BC, Canada to Singapore with our 2 year old and we learned a few things. First of all, it's doable! We did it and you can do it too (!!).
I hope this video inspires you more than scares you. Follow along with our family travels and journey to do scientific research in Indonesia for the next few months.

You are a warrior. What a wonderful family ❤. Is your son bilingual? We speak French and Japanese. I went back to Switzerland from Japan with my toddler years ago, thanks to KZread Moms like you I was fairly prepared but what an exhausting journey. Three flights. I had to run like crazy with my son in his carrier and all our carry-on bags to make it in South Korea after a long bus transfer (different terminal) where I had to stand and carry him for the 40 minutes bus ride, my poor back (luckily he was asleep). For the last flight two ladies helped me a bit. My husband joined us a week later, he slept and played games the whole time. So unfair. We are going back to Switzerland this Summer, I'll be alone with my son (now turning 7) and his sister (turning 3 ) for her first flight so I'm watching travel videos again. Already stressed. I can't agree more with the ' keep it on your body ' rule for essentials, I was separated from my phone and wallet at a crucial time in Hawaii and I made it through luck (and a lot of pleading and shouting and making a fool of myself in the lines, never again) and the kindness of two airport staff against their cold colleagues.

Hi I am from Manila Philippines and as soon as I read your video title, I knew you traveled from US to Phl. I will be migrating to US with my 12 months old baby soon too and it will be just the two of us during travel so I am doing some research to get Tips on how to make it easier for me. I love your videos and i learned a lot. Thank you! 😊

Maybe BabyQuip? There are some other similar baby equipment rental companies. Or look for one secondhand/on FB marketplace.

Hi, did you book your tickets directly with the airlines or did you buy it from a third party website? My husband and I are planning to go to Indonesia (from Toronto) when our baby is around 1 and booking the tickets directly from the airline website is way more expensive than a third party website and we’re wondering if we can still book from third party but call the airline for infant lap. Thanks!

Great question. We’ve done both - and have been able to book with third party apps and then call and add our lap baby!

Maybe it depends where you’re going but we never had trouble finding them. They weren’t always the same though. In Indonesia, they were more like pull ups and all the wipes we could find were scented 😊

what tablet did u give your toddler?

An amazon fire -- Can't say that I recommend it, because I found it confusing to get used to. But it's fine. It does the job. And it seems indestructible.

@@hazreenaaidaillias2709 I think that could work great! You’ll just have to get a good strong case 😅 And maybe put some parent protection settings on it 🤔

The amount of carry-ons is inconsiderate for other people on the plane. Where do you plan on putting those bags in the overhead storage you're going to take up someone else's space. Because obviously you only purchased three seats. Very inconsiderate in my opinion
