I love that Missy Higgins sings in her Aussie accent. She doesn’t use the “singer accent” that English speaking singers usually use. I think because we only usually hear people “speak” in our accent it makes us listen to it in a different way when sung. Despite the fact the she’s singing it’s like she’s speaking to me. That combined with her beautiful pure voice makes it seem really “honest”. I love her.

When you mention "singers' accent" it's because there is a pretty much universal diction in singing in the English language (more evident in certain genres than others) to help with placement, resonance and vowel modifications.........these things help with hitting high notes among other things such as a more fluid connected sound. One example is the song "Never Enough" with the high belt of "never, never, never enough for ME".....the "me" is a very high note belted which if you sing in an Aussie accent ala Kath and Kim ("look at moy" even if not as extreme) will sound ridiculous not because it is boganlike but because you make it hard upon yourself to hit that note. That's why most who sings "Never Enough" sings the "me" high belt as "mhay" rather than "meeeee". The same why "baby" (babeeee) is often sung as "babey".

You are 100% spot on with your assessment of Missy. Not the most powerful voice (more folky tones) but a wonderful song writer and story teller. Her singing voice is unmistakable, and very Aussie. The Special Two is from her Sound of White album which she released when she was just 20 years old! It's one of my favourite Aussie albums. Full of beautiful melodies and stories. I first saw Missy when she toured with the Finn Brothers (Tim and Neil) back in 2004. I didn't know her music at the time but fell in love with her immediately.

So glad someone asked for Missy Higgins. Truly, there is so much amazing music that you can never hope to cover even packing in 10 songs a day (And I know it takes way longer to get these reactions organised and uploaded than just the time it takes to record the video.)

Agree. There is so much to choose from. I keep adding to list of songs that i would like to request.
Yessssss you nailed it mate, I have so many faves from Mel that one cannot start to list.
Great song. The drummer that played in that song live also plays for a Australian band called The Whitlams definetley another band you want to listen to ! Another Australian gem

Hell yes!! No aphrodisiac especially.
Really like your channel I’m from Australia 🇦🇺 hope you’re doing ok health wise and overall 👍
Singer, Missy does it all, writes, sings, plays music and she is an actress as well and I absolutely love her.
I love love love everything Missy Higgins does… her message is one of vulnerability, love and truth and it just flows out of her with such musicality it makes me cry… every single song she writes and performs is so emotive evocative and real… she is a great Australian talent! 🤩🤩🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘
I love Missys story telling. 'Beautiful'
Love Missy Higgins, such a brilliant songwriter. I think my favourite album of hers is The Ol' Razzle Dazzle, so many great songs on that one.
Love Missy. She writes beautifully and love that you can clearly hear the Aussie accent when she sings.
I just love Missy Higgins❤️, a beautiful song writer and her voice is beautiful 🤗❤️ I love that she sings in her authentic Australian accent😊😎🌏🪐🍀🌕🙏🥰👣🦋🌸🇦🇺🦉🏡🌳❤️
She helped bring my family back together. Xx
Missy is a godsend. I adore her from back when this was recorded through to today!
She looks so beautiful here too
I love Missy, I've seen her live with my children. She is amazing.
I love Missy.
Missy Higgins is probably the first singer you have heard who has sung in an Australian accent, which is possible why you get that western twang. I have seen her live and she is amazing, apart from her songs, her band has more female musicians than men. It’s a good thing to see.
One of Missy's best songs. She's really underrated as a singer and has a unique voice without resorting to the indie girl singing style.
Dude..... She totally pulled you in. I ain't never seen you pulled so far in!! ❤️👍
Always loved missy Higgins.
Nice to hear you review Missy I've always loved her music and I'm glad you like her too. Hope you get to review more if her songs.
Love Missy, phenomenal singer/songwriter. Love her voice!
Yeah love Missy, like you said Erik she sings in Aussie lingo God love her!

I know a few people who fell in love with her that way. Saw her as a support act and came away with a lifelong love of her talent.
Missy's songs can capture your heart. You got room in your life for 2 crushes Dom lol
She has had some great success over many years in Australia. This was the song that broke her when she was a teenager. Good choice
I love how she tells a story through her music. She's grown on me throughout the years.
One of my fav Missy Higgins songs
Missy Higgins and Pete Murray aren’t belters like Delta or Jimmy. But they have extremely soothing voices that and are fantastic song writers. Pete Murray is worth looking at.
WhaaaaaaaaaaaAt?!?!? I have waited years for a Missy Higgins reaction.
One of my absolute favourites
One of my all time favourite songs, I'm so happy you reacted to this hidden gem
Missy Higgins has a unique vocal (with Australian accents) and she's a colourful storyteller - very recognisable.
Yesssss!! This whole album is absolutely fkn amazing, listened to it a LOT over the years. This song is my absolute favourite, it's about her relationship with her sister and resonates hard with my relationship with my sister. She and a few other Aussie artists did free laneway busking gigs around Melbourne after some of the initial lockdown restrictions eased to give the people a little treat. Total legend and Queen ❤️
I've watched a lot of Missy and this particular song many, many times but despite that I still got choked up within the first few phrases...happens every time and every time I'm surprised by it.
Thanks for getting to Missy Higgins, just love her voice and her songwriting is just next level.
I love this reaction so much
Tear up everytime I hear this song.
I love her. First time I saw her live she was supporting George about 20 years ago. Such a good night 💖
Missy so naturally talented no artifice her songwriting reveals her soul.
Really cool song. I haven’t heard this kind of singer songwriter since the 2000s.
This is my favourite song of hers! ❤️ I understand what you meant about her being a songwriter. You can tell immediately that she is telling her story
Love missy
MISSY ❤❤❤
love Missy
love her
Omg I love love loveeeee this song!!!!! Wow so glad you did this man.
when this song first came out it was everywhere and I got over it so quickly. but as ive aged and has the song i love it more and more. a few years ago she actually said that the song was an apology to her sister because they both liked the same guy and she dated him.

I remember working in restaurant for about a year without anything but Missy Higgins/Norah Jones/Pete Murray on loop, back in the days before spotify and all they had as a 3 cd changer.....It's a great song, but this gave me flashbacks of that!

🎉⭐Happy Birthday Nick ⭐🎉
Her song scar is one of those songs that I think everyone in Australia knows. Even my dad, who is a solid and unwavering AC/DC and Metallica fan can hit the chorus when scar comes on!
Such a beautiful song! brings me to tears every time!
One of my favourite artists! Her songs have gotten me through a lot of heart break.
I love Missy! I listened to her album Sound of White over and over and over! It's not often we hear the Aussie accent so clearly in songs.
I watched her in concert tonight sing special two in Cairns . I cried , she’s so uniquely Australian and beautiful. This song hits hard
I love this song too
That reaction my man, once again, just soul right
Actually this reminds me of seeing Ray Charles live in a small concert room, he sang for himself because he was feeling the song, he was talking with the keyboard, and the room knew the words! 🤗 She is genuine! 😊👍
Great aussie singer. & during the current pandemic she went into the heart of Melbourne, set up in the street outside our iconic Flinders st station & played a session to the few people allowed out & about at the time.

HOW DID I MISS THIS?! I live like 3ks down the road 😭
'On a Clear Night' and 'Where I stood' are supremely well produced albums.
This is such a special song to me.
Beautiful song
Glad you found your way to Missy. Unique is a very good descriptor and yes, of course, she is (imho) one of Australia’s best songwriters. So young we can’t wait to hear what she comes up with next.
Aaaaahhhhh Misssy.
She is a special talent for sure
She always makes me cry lol😭
I loved this when it came out and still do! Yes, it is her song.
I love how he says she sounds like she could be played all over the radio.. Come to Australia and go anywhere that has music playing, Missy Higgins will come on probably more than once 🤣
Another great choice for a reaction
Happy Birthday Mate!!!! Have a great one!
Love Missy, one of my favourite artists. Have seen her live in concert, she's fabulous, great songwriter. Happy Birthday
Paul Kelly was the one you said had a "radio friendly voice". Both are great singer song writers.

I love Missy so much and this is my fave of hers. Melody, lyrics, mood, emotion - the stars align. A #2 hit in Australia for those who don’t know. She’s had two #1s - Scar and Steer - also amazing songs. Where I Stood, Ten Days, Set Me On Fire … so many awesome songs. And I love that she sings in an Australian accent - makes Australian listeners feel connected.
She is unique and a honest song writer
This sister has had some much needed healing from the tunes of Missy Higgins. She’s one awesome ball of talent.
They werent there will always be my favorite Missy song.
