🔊 The part number you need is 7C-LF525/CPF, simply search for this number on your favourite sites. This is the mk2, improved version of the mid bass driver used in the 780 & 782 speakers. The 77 series uses part number 71-LF525/CPF which, as far as I can tell, is the same unit but without the magnetic shielding. I used this unit from the 77 series in my 782s. It is a perfect fit and sounds great.
The 77C (centre speaker) uses the desired 7C-etc part❗ So you could try to pick up a 77C for cheap to break.
The 78 series all used the same mid bass unit. It is prone to leaking fluid from the magnet assembly, causing corrosion of the solder joints to the voice coil and the unit subsequently fails. The mk2 mid bass unit from a different supplier (7C-etc) is near identical but engineered to solve the fluid leak issue.

Hello, first Ty for the information regarding the 780’s. I have a pair that are not in working condition because of one driver. I have tried endlessly to find a replacement driver but can not. I know the video is a yr old but I’ve looked before over a yr ago but nothing. Can I use another 5inch driver in the one spkr to at least use them or do u know how to find that mission part. Ty

Hawkwind headlined the Saturday at the inaugural Planet Rockstock. NAH! Not for me. You clearly need to be stoned to 'get' their show. Now the main headliners on the Sunday, Uriah Heep - blew the feckin' roof off❗ the real stars of the weekend though, were Tax The Heat.

Hi. I have a pair of mission m71i's that sound amazing but are ugly little buggers and a pair of wharfedale diamond 9.1's which I got cheap but contrary to rave reviews sound awful but look great. My question is, can the mid/bass driver be taken out of the missions and put into the wharfedales? Any help is appreciated
How do I get a pair of those replacement speakers, I have the same issue and the speakers have been in storage for a long time! I'm located in Canada, any contact info would be greatly appreciated! Ray

Here are brand new units which are almost exactly the same as the originals en.toutlehautparleur.com/speaker-audax-hm130z0-8-ohm-5-35-x-5-35-inch.html TBH 2ndhand units here in the Uk sell for almost as much as these new ones.

@@AbouttheHouse0 got my eye on a centre channel of the same era close by for £50 how durable are these midranges? I collected a new to me, tidy pair of 782s in beech tonight for £110. 1st thing I did was close the bass ports with a rolled up sock.. much tighter less bloated bass. May investigate addressing the cabinet vibration.. Mid range and treble is pretty nice though. Is this alternative midrange better than the original or should I be happy with my £110 purchase for now?

If you are in Toronto, I went to the Speaker Shop and they did a pretty good job finding new drivers (from another mission model) I think the originals may have been a bit better but they suffered from corrosion. I thought it would be easier to find a replacement but it is actually a challenge.

Sorry I didn't see this reply earlier. The alternative mid range I used here is a later version of the original. It may be slightly 'better' in the lab, but I can't hear any difference. I'd say to enjoy them as they are.
я чиню динамики mission в россии . да, замена на динамики из центрального канала 77с возможна, но. Все 77с уже не новые и там часто требуется замена резиновых подвесов. От времени они трескаются. . Имейте это в виду !

В чем там изначально причина была? Я читал, что был дефект с намоткой и провода на катушке окислялись/ржавели. Из-за этого СЧ динамики сначала звучали тихо, а потом и вовсе их коротило.

@@imemine246 из-за клея, или материала диффузора подводящие провода гниют. В последнее время ещё и подвесы менять приходится.
