From Emmy Award-winning executive producer and creator Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY, “Ted,” “Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey”), THE ORVILLE is a live-action, one-hour space adventure series set 400 years in the future that follows The Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship. Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of everyday life. The ensemble series stars MacFarlane as the ship’s Commanding Officer, Ed Mercer, and Adrianne Palicki (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Friday Night Lights”) as his ex-wife, Kelly Grayson, who’s assigned as his First Officer. Additional cast members include Penny Johnson Jerald as Dr. Claire Finn (“24,” “The Larry Sanders Show”), Scott Grimes as Gordon Malloy (“ER,” “Justified”), Peter Macon as Bortus (“Shameless,” “Bosch”), Halston Sage as Alara Kitan (“Neighbors,” “Goosebumps”), J. Lee as John LaMarr (FAMILY GUY, “The Cleveland Show”), Mark Jackson as Isaac (“That Royal Today”) and Chad L. Coleman as Klyden (“The Walking Dead,” “The Wire”). The Orville has been renewed for a second season.

It's too "street", more of a comedy than a Star Trek. I love Seth McFarlane and A Million Ways To Die In The West etc, but either this series needs to go to that more or significantly less, either way.
I really loved this episode especially how at the end he chose to save the female Krill and her student's sad that what she said they'd grow up to be his enemy after seeing what he did on the ship
This was a great episode. It had real stakes, established the Krill as scary, and featured enlightened behavior from our heroes.
This was a really well done episode. Had high stakes seriousness with bits of humor sprinkled in while also having a ethics/morality play at the end. I miss shows like this. Bravo!
This episode was the one where I officially became sold on the Orville
One of the best episode of first season.

At some point Mercer and Malloy, disguised as Krill, slam into each other trying to walk through a doorway at the same time (a la 3 Stooges). I doubled over laughing. Really looking forward to Season 2, and the next season of Silicon Valley.
I'm excited to see what happens now that the Krill know where Earth is.

When that little Krill child was asking about Earth and where it was and what its people were like that made me very uncomfortable.

The Krill are like the Cardassians in Star Trek, they have a lot in common

this is a low ranking crew but they mange to capture a krill destroyer that is bigger then there ship after studding it you think it will be his know since they think he needs a bigger ship or when the treaty is since they give it back to them

I'm guessing the reason why the krill in the first episode weren't hurt by sunlight is because it takes a high level of intensity in order to actually hurt them.
