Ethan cares SO MUCH because it's the RIGHT THING TO DO. That is the key to understanding Ethan Hunt's moral compass. They made this point very effectively when Alec Baldwin's character said “Some flaw deep in your core being simply won't allow you to choose between one life and millions. You see that as a sign of weakness. To me, that's your greatest strength.”

When George asked, "I wonder why Ethan cares so much for someone he just met," i didn't see it that way. I saw it as something he would of done for anyone. Every movie he risks his life for people he has never met by saving the world. He always puts his team before himself also.

Fun Fact: The real reason Ilsa wears an eye patch is because when they tried to shoot the scene without it - she couldnt close one eye properly or rather didnt know how to close one eye and aim so it just looked aesthetically confusing like she was trying to wink but failing. The fix? Eyepatch which is pretty clever given the circumstances and the setting she was in

Seeing this in IMAX was incredible. Before IMAX films for the past year or so, they showed a featurette of how he did the stunt of driving the motorcycle off the cliff. It was real, on top of a big mountain, but they built a huge ramp for him to drive up to go off the edge, and digitally removed it in the film. A Helicopter and drones filmed the stunt.

13:03 i often laugh whenever i hear someone say a movie had "too many heroes" or "too many villains" or "too many [whatever]" as to why it was bad. its not necessarily the number of characters or plotlines that determines the success/failure of a film, its the management or mismanagement of them. 'Dead Reckoning Part One' is one of those films that handled them all amazingly. 'Snatch (2000)' is another and there are others.

I really liked this one. As it is a part 1, it feels a bit busy as it needs to lay out the pieces engaged in this new threat but I think it does a good job in balancing the amount of new information with good callbacks and character returns from the previous movies to show that this is a continuous story, not just a standalone part one action movie. Grace is a bit annoying at first but I do think this is quite intentional. She is not an agent as the rest of the team or trained to be understanding of the threats and risks. She is a thief who ends up being part of something crazy and way beyond what she is used to. She does not know Ethan or the rest of the team, she received a picture of him and she does not comprehend all of the situation so, it feels kind of normal for her not to trust him in a way. He helps out but she does not know to which extent and for what as we, the audience that is following him for a while, know. After Ilsa's death, she starts to see the team as an actual team that will really help her, and she begins to understand the stakes of it all.

@@ItApproaches in MI2 He actually goes after and recruits a thief when He thinks she will be useful for the mission though. In this one, the thief was involved in all since she was hired to obtain and delivery the key to the white widow, so it is not random that Ethan finds her and stick with her throughout the events. Also, she does not drive well in the scenes we see but she is also handcuffed, in a car that even Ethan had a bit of difficulty, under a very stressed situation while being chased in Italy with very narrow streets. I did not mind that and it was a good oportunity to the improve and comedic scenes that The MI franchise tends to have anyways. Regarding the other skills, well, we May see more of that later. She is primarely a thief after all. About her being caught easily, she was caught because the entity and Ethan interfered btw.

I remember back in 2019 when Paramount, Skydance and Cruise himself announced back to back sequels:part 7 for 2021 and part 8 for 2022. The pandemic pushing back everything. Production on Part 1 wrapping up, the first trailer dropping and announcing the beginning of the end to the franchise was exciting. This was definitely worth the admission. Brilliant story, even better cast and plenty of shockers. These action sequences are all incredible and steady keep you on the edge. Well constructed for Cruise to do his thing and other actors getting into the action as well. Henry Czerny returning as Eugene Kittridge (ex-IMF director/now-director CIA director) was a nice addition and ever since M:I-1, he realizes that Hunt as an leader can still get things done. I did see this on IMAX and enjoyed every minute. This was one of the better films out among many failing blockbusters. Dead Reckoning Part Two was hallway through filming when the actors' strike started. Now that it's over, they've pushed the release date to 2025. Another long wait (perhaps) and it'll be worth it like the last one. Did y'all notice the callbacks to the first film: 1. Bravo Echo One One is Ethan Hunt's Identification Code. First heard after he lost his team in Prague. 2. Sleight of hand with the keys pieces. Ethan did that with The NOC List. 3. Luther being referred to as 'The Net Range'r & 'Phineas Freak'. His known aliases as an tech genius prior to meeting Ethan and planning The NOC List heist.

I can understand with him saying that he wishes that they didn't include "Part One" in the title, but I think that was for the best. The same summer this came out, two other big movies came out that were two-part movies - Across the Spider-Verse, and Fast X. Both of these films ended on a cliffhanger with "To Be Continued" on the screen, and most people did not know that was coming, and there were negative reactions to that. Of course Cruse and the studio had no way of knowing that reaction would be there for those films, but it's almost like they did because they wanted the audience to know going in that this was part one of a two part story, so everything would not be wrapped up before the film was over, and they'd have to wait for the next film to see how everything ends. Also, Cruise said publicly that even though this was a part one, he wanted an ending of sorts, even though the story would continue. He knew the audience would be disappointed if the first film's plot didn't have a satisfactory ending (even though the story would obviously continue to the second film).

I wish they had released this movie in August so it had a chance to be a bigger hit, instead of pitting it against Barbie and Oppenheimer which pretty much buried it.

The jump was real but the ledge he jumped off of was a metal ramp that was CGI'd to look like the cliff edge. Theres a full youtube video thats the official behind the scenes of prepping for the jump

How does no one else comment on the fact when Grace doubles for the White Widow they have completely different body shapes and EYES. Grace retains her big brown eyes when doubling the Widow who has grey/blue eyes. They actually cut straight from 1 to the other in the train and it is so noticeable! But the Widows brother doesn't notice? Nevermind the stunts and plot armour, believing Grace can double White Widow is mission impossible.

For the jump they computer mapped his trajectory etc taking into account wind etc so he wouldn't hit the cliffs. Rebecca is credited with being in part 2 on IMDB:) Hopefully this is not just because there is like one flash back scene featuring her character

Haley Atwell is 41 years old, the events that brought Ethan to the IMF happened 32 years ago.. so no lol not related 😂 I think the theyre definitely supposed to be romantically involved in the next film, and the fact that Tom and Haley dated during the shooting of the movie.. makes that father daughter question even more creepy lol

@SorcerSundry yes, I do, I appreciate the sarcasm though. I think Haley Atwell looks close to her age, and I think Tom Cruise looks slightly younger than his own, so the idea of them being father and daughter doesn’t work out, mathematically. Not to mention it would be a really silly recon that mission impossible is very much above. I think they’re clearly designed to be love interests, and if you listen to the commentary by the Director, Christopher Macquarie, he all but reinforces that

I loved this movie for naming it Part One. So many movies to come out recently have been cliffhangers (I'd just seen the last Fast and Furious), I'd have been furious if the movie ended and I didn't know there would be more.

I'm not going to watch this video just yet because I want to rewatch Dead Reckoning again now the DVD is out but I will say this, I remember the opening scene when I saw the movie in cinema and I felt a bit unnerved because submarines just creep me out me for some reason! I can't be the only one who thinks like that, right? I also remember upon my initial reaction not liking Dead Reckoning as much as I did Fallout but I'll see if that changes on my second viewing! ALSO, ALSO... After months of lurking on this channel I finally subscribed! I think Simone's guilt tripping finally broke me! 😂😂

I really liked the italian car chase which I'm sure is a reference to Lupin 3rd. I mean, thieves in a Yellow Fiat 500 followed by a lot of cops with comedic stunts ? it can't be a coincidence. Right ?

It's funny you would mention wanting to see a show about clean up crews. Marvel had a comic called Damage Control which dealt with the subject of clean up after super hero events. Also, NBC had a short lived sitcom called Powerless. Which evolves around the company Wayne Security, providing products and insurance for the citizens of Charm City. To protect them and their property from death and collateral damage of super hero and villain fights.

Example of a few: hand-to-hand combat, weapons training, free solo rock climbing, excellent driver, speaks multiple languages, unlimited speed and endurance, can fly helicopters, can sky dive, rides motercycles, etc. What other skills does Ethan possess?
