    What's really sad is, if these guys were just fishermen. If they were just regular people trying to put food on their plates by putting food on yours, they would've gotten the typical 72 hour obligatory search before they were declared dead, and we more than likely would've heard nothing about it.

    I've told this worthy story before but I'll tell it again. My Grandfather knew the Titanic was going to sink. He kept telling everyone this but they just ignored him. In the end, they threw him out of the movie theatre. Anyway, anyone who looked at this mini sub and saw that was driven by an X Box controller knew it wasn't safe.

  • @regenosis

    @regenosis

    11 ай бұрын

    I think the xbox controller is simply there to maneuver the submersible. As long as other instrumentation and controls exist to augment or overtake those controls, it's probably fine. The part that gets me is when the CEO explained that the controller is connected through bluetooth and any of the passengers can have a go at driving it. Like you really want to hand the controller off to someone inexperienced at moving the vehicle in and around the complex Titanic wreck, at that extreme depth?

    Anything having to do with the Titanic is usually catastrophic, I live here in Huntsville, al. where the defense company S.C.I. is located. In July of 1984 there were 15 people who were on a boat named S.C.I.tanic that was owned by the company. While in the river a sudden storm came up and capsized the boat and everyone was killed. So here's a warning, never have anything to do with anything about the Titanic. Nothing good will come from it.

Those submersibles, designed and operated under the auspices of the U.S. Navy in cooperation with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, have evolved into ROVs with extraordinary research capabilities. Dr. Ballard has stated that manned underwater vehicles going to the depths of the Titanic ( which he discovered in 1985 ) are still unsafe. Yes, some people choose to dare the depths in slap-dash subs, looking to make some megabucks off rich tourists, but he wouldn't do it. I trust Dr. Ballard.

    They could be anywhere by now, those undersea currents are so sstrong they could be hundreds of miles outside the search area. If they're caught on the wreck with the time they have left, its doubtful they'll be recovered.

    Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving. Colossians 4:2 AMP and the prayer of faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. James 5:15 AMP But he must ask [for wisdom] in faith, without doubting [God’s willingness to help], for the one who doubts is like a billowing surge of the sea that is blown about and tossed by the wind. James 1:6 AMP If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 AMP

    This confused me too. But I think I've heard one reporter explain the submersible actually has to be bolted shut before it launches. I assume a hatch of some sort could compromise absolute water-tightness and pressurization. At that depth, maybe no reliable tech exists yet for easy access/exit?

    Submarines don't operate anywhere near that depth. They can probably go down about a third or a fourth of that due to their size. The larger the craft, the harder it is to make it crush resistant.

    What has not been explained to me is that; if the only way to detect an object that deep is using sonar where you send a 'ping' and listen to the reflection of it... why can't the mother ship and submersible communicate by Morse code using pings? How far can a ping travel through water (obviously more than 4 miles)? Surely the submersible could/should be equipped with a sonar ping generator even if it did not have room for a full sonar system - better than banging on the side I would have thought?

    @randomly_random_0 I know. This story is obviously sad if they turn up dead. But let's face some facts that they freely went on this dive without any real safety measures etc. It's ridiculous thinking someone else gonna pay endless of millions to search for stupid billionaires but the billionaires wouldn't spend that money searching for some poor person lost. Therefore my belive is that every single expense needs to come from the 5 people on board the vessel.
