Have you been keeping up with the Miss Universe activities? The contestants of this edition are unfortunately confined to the hotel for the majority of the pageant events. Today some ventured out to visit the children's hospital, which was an incredibly sweet appearance to see.
Top contenders for the 2018 crown have once again sent strong representatives for the 2019. This year, Thailand is extremely favored to win, but it will not be an easy feat. Countries like South Africa, France, and Vietnam are pushing hard for the honor of taking the Miss Universe title home for their country. But there can only be one Miss Universe 2019; who will she be?

You’re so right Dani. Their only activities seems like just walking and walking and walking inside the hotel. It sucks big time. When MU contest was held in the Philippines and Thailand, the contestants were paraded, did different activities, toured the countrysides, beaches, cities, and visited head of states, and charities. MU contest in Atlanta is so cheap. Just my opinion.

It’s a real unclassy move by MUO ! IMHO My favs - Puerto Rico, Haiti , India, Vietnam , Bangladesh , Kenya, Ireland ,USA , Philippines , South Africa, Belgium, Albania, Chile., Argentina, Mexico, To me, I will give them each a Mikimodo crown to go home with just for their stellar looks and achievements !!! Niv when I competed at USA everything ran quickly so we were able to take outfit pics at some events. We’d take them at the hotel instead. The events the queens have attended have been mainly in the hotel so there’s no real point to rush and take a photo downstairs when you can take a little more time to get a more post-worthy one by your room before your chaperone comes to get you. That’s what I’d assume from my own experience.

When you were talking about girls who are not the front runners getting no screen time or shoots, I can feel you speaking from your heart on that. I remembered so vividly when you represented Montana at Miss USA last year, you were barely shown in any shots as if you didn’t existed! Understandably, Montana isn’t a strong state at Miss USA, but that was disrespectful, in my opinion, to you who I know have worked so hard to win your state title! You were an amazing delegate for the state and a strong one I dare say from that year. It’s a pity sometimes that the organisation cannot look pass sash factors. This sash factor gimmick has plagued the pageant ever since its inception, that we look at it as a norm now. Nothing wrong with making decisions based on sash factor, but when the sash factor solely determines your picks, then I think you got it wrong. I also blame this partially on pageant fan pages and blogs that only perpetuate what the majority of pageant viewers want to see. Let’s face it, the stronger countries are strong because of their people. Sponsors of the pageant want the most profit and the most clicks from their works at the pageant, and who else to provide that other than those countries that have the biggest fan bases? At the end of the day, pages and blogs really only post what the fans want to see, which makes many of them very bias. When we all of a sudden don’t mention the strong countries or states, the fans almost always cause an uproar so loud that the pages receive threats. The pageant community could get extremely bigoted and vicious at times, but I thank you Dani for being honest in this video! By the way, are you attending the preliminaries Dani? You could definitely make a vlog out of that and I would still watch it! Also, I’ve been seeing some country organisation pages mentioning that the tickets are still available, maybe you could look into that?

Roseycheeks thanks so much for all those thoughts. Yes, when I arrived at Miss USA and wasn’t getting any camera shots I had a strong feeling I wouldn’t place. It felt like a casting, which I understand because I’ve been to many. I don’t take those personally. But fan support didn’t go unnoticed. As I stood during finals I could hear the audience saying, “Montana is next, they’re gonna call Montana.” They said that as each contestant was announced, up until the final contestant; when I wasn’t announced they voiced their confusion. It was really appreciated to be notice after all the work that goes into the prep, even it if wasn’t by the organization. It meant a lot ❤️ Your comment maaaaay just have inspired a new idea for a video 😄

I'm so disappointed for you that you probably won't get to go! I can't believe they picked such a small venue, that decision is truly beyond my comprehension. You'd think if they had a larger venue, they'd (absolutely) sell way more tickets and maybe wouldn't need to charge 20 bucks to watch prelims. And even as a fan who'll be watching at home either way, there's nothing like seeing a show in a huge venue with thousands and thousands of cheering, screaming, passionate fans. Also, what's with them having the prelims in the hotel ballroom instead of on the stage? No matter how much they try to spruce it up, it's still just a hotel ballroom. I didn't like it when they used to hold Miss Teen USA in the same drab hotel ballroom at Atlantis year after year, and I don't like the idea of prelims being in a hotel ballroom at all, sadly.

Dani Walker I always get so emotional for her at every step she takes, because I know how strong and hard-working she is. Thuy is from a small village in Northern Vietnam, where her family faced poverty. They didn’t even have a house, her family lived under a small dwelling made out of trees and leaves. she had to sell small bags of cakes on running buses at the age of 9, and she did this for 10 years. However, this hardship didn’t stop her from pursuing education, her Dad taught her the importance of knowledge at the very young age. One life lesson that taught her to never give up is when she was selling cakes, the bus was running quite fast, and she had to jump down so she could walk back home. The bus driver taught her to “jump forward, so the momentum doesn’t make you fall.” This very first lesson have taught her to always jump forward in life, don’t ever fall back. At 19 years old, while attending college, she joined Vietnam’s next top model, and the whole experience changed her and she won the whole show with one of the judges in the finale is Tyra Bank. Tyra Bank introduced her abroad, and she started to learn English. Then she joined Miss Vietnam, and she has changed a lot since then to be less of a cold model look, instead become a inspiring and charming beauty queen. She has worked very hard. This is one of her stories of overcoming.

Also definitely agree that the $20 price tag to watch prelims and national costume is not affordable for people in certain parts of the world... Vietnam is totally the best dressed this year

Dani: This is going to be the widest open Miss Universe ever. If I were a betting person, Here is my Top 20: Americas: USA-Cheslie is going to have a big home field advantage with the pageant in Atlanta. Brazil Puerto Rico Colombia Mexico Europe: Albania Ireland France Belgium Great Britain Netherlands Africa/Asia-Pacific: Phillipines Thailand South Africa India Australia Under the radar: Vietnam Kenya Nepal Israel Canada On Cheslie: Big home field for her, being only 300 miles from Atlanta. I am worried though about what happened to our girl the last three years. 2016-Deshana (skunked) 2017-Kara (skunked) 2018-Sarah (never got out of Sherri Hill dress). But, I think it's going to be different for Cheslie. At least Top 10. If Cheslie gets to the question round, watch out. I wonder what you think. Thank you.

I must have been the only lucky one getting tickets for Miss Universe this year. I knew it was gonna be hard to get since the venue isn't as big as previous years. When I bought the tickets, you literally have to click purchase on the dot and have it go through within 30 seconds or else it would not go. 4 of my friends were with me at the Starbucks café with our laptops and only 2 of us were able to get it. the other 3 had pending/error messages. But I do know that there will be a Miss Universe viewing party in Atlanta if you are interested Dani.

Dani I agree with you. Miss Universe is a World Wide event and every contestant should be entitled to have some coverage. You can't have a Miss Universe pageant with just 15 "Sash Factor" girls, therefore every contestant should be valued for their participation. I've been following Miss Universe for 40 years and during the main event, there was always coverage of the girls participating in planned events, enjoying their time while participating in the pageant. This is a once in a lifetime event for these girls, therefore, more effort should be invested in making the competition exactly THAT>

I pray that someone will hook you up with some tickets for the prelims or finals because I love your thoughts, insights , food cravings😂 and inside scoops about the event. It was ridiculous that within minutes, the tickets were sold out! If #MUO IMG/WME want to make more money, why not hold the event to a bigger venue and to sell more tickets?! $20 pay per view fee is no problem for me but what about those people who can't afford to see a used to be "free live stream" pageantry? $20 is a lot of money to other countries. Until your next Vlog, stay blessed beautiful.

I'm glad you mentioned that the girls seem to be in the hotel ALL Day! That must be such a let down for the contestants. Do you think MUO and IMG is broke and can't afford to take these girls out? I wonder if MUO will be sold soon and IMG wants to keep costs at minimal. Charging for preliminaries is ridiculous! I hope you get tickets to the event!

I am so confused by it all. Miss USA 2019 was similar. I feel fortunate that Shreveport created so many fun and welcoming events for us when I was at Miss USA. The country welcome dinner was incredible, as well as the huge parade they threw us, along with a rooftop dinner with all the best Cajun cuisine in Shreveport. I had so much fun; I want that for this year's contestants too.

Let's be honest here. IMG has mismanaged the pageant for a while. They seem to be determined to go about things with the least cost possible. All of the IMG queens have traveled less than the Trump era winners. This has really only fully come to light with Catriona's reign. Everything is a business transaction these days.
