There’s a certain glamour to 80’s beauty pageants.

I loved the stage, the production, the dancers, the hosts. My favorites in the intrevew were Mexico, Thailand & Hong Kong. My favorites in swimsuit were Thailand, Mexico & Korea. My favorites in evening gown were Thailand, Mexico & USA.

This is when they knew how to do the Miss Universe pageant. One of my favorites and one of my favorite evening gown presentations, though I have no idea what that thing Venezuela was wearing. Korea was an elegant young woman. It was tough not to see her win. I loved her from the beginning, not to take anything away from Thailand who was also elegant. I'm not sure what happened to Miss USA in this pageant, I was surprised to not see her make the final 5.

She had what was then the highest preliminary score going into the top 10. But it appears the judges, for some reason, was not impressed with her semi-finals interview. It was then downhill from there. I thought at least she would make it up for swimsuit (she deserved at least a 9) and evening gown but the damage was done and she was unable to recover.

@@PungiFungi Agreed. Her interview was more than fine. But she received mediocre scores. And then the judges kept her down for SS and EG and she was wonderful in both. Odd.

Las asiaticas se destacaron sin ser las mas bellas tal vez por estar en taiwan las mas bellas usa venezuela korea nueva zelanda peru inglaterra uruguay tailandia mexico republica dominicana colombiay costa rica el concurso fue expectacular no como los de hoy que perdieron el esplendor que caracterizaba a miss universe

Every ladies in that year were beautiful, everyone could be the winner, if the pretty faces mean everything.

I saw videos of Cecilia during her reign as MU. She was treated like a queen in Chile, first class treatment everywhere she went. I can only wonder what it’s like to pass the crown off to someone else. Brook Lee cried about it.

Pues como buen mexicano me hubiera gustado que México haya ganado el concurso ,pero creo que le faltó proyección, así como el peinado y el vestuario no le favorecían además no le ví las ganas de poner a México en alto. Mu humilde opinión Bendiciones 🤩

Sinceramente aa misses Hong Kong , Venezuela, Colômbia, Japão, caíram de paraquedas neste top 10 , e as misses R. Dominicana ou Usa deveriam ter vencido

Just my observation.. I dont know how Hong Kong was able to pull off a high score in evening gown than USA and DR. Mexico seems in a hurry yet shes got a high score in evening gown. She wasn't able to showcase her gown that well. USA's black gown doesn't really gave justice to her beauty. She should have chosen something pastel, gold or silver colors. I don't know why Norway was in this list. She's so dry and lack the spirit. Japan and Korea was a breathe of fresh air. Thailand was a runaway winner. Although this could have been different if there was a final q&a. Apparently this edition doesn't have...

Miss Hongkong carried well her evening gown. Miss DR was a bit haunced, bad poised. Miss USA almost tripped if you see closely.

Só não entendi porque muitas candidatas na pré eliminar obtiveram a soma de notas superior a muitas que classificaram e não conseguiram fica nas finalistas. Não dá para entender .

Gostei da transmissão do certame, entretanto repudiei o resultado final, pois na minha concepção a eleita deveria ter sido a Miss KOREA, muito mais linda, jovem e portadora de uma beleza natural. Aliás a KOREA até hoje jamais venceu um Miss Universe! Por quê será? Sempre trouxe candidatas belíssimas.

The worst MU ever....but there were beautiful girls : Finland, Turkey, Rep Dominicana (the best)....

Amanda Olivares of Mexico was the winner. The mistake gave Thailand the crown but it was a mistake of accommodation in the list. Very badly for quime he made that mistake.
