China's national costume in 2012 was designed by haute couturier GUO PEI. When I saw it displayed at the Vancouver Museum in 2018, the description said it took more than 80,000 manhours to complete the garment. It was 100% hand-embroidered silk. That is the most beautiful dress (or costume) I have ever seen --- it was MIND BLOWING...❤❤❤
From 2014 to 2019, Asia has bagged the award. Hope they win it again this year 2020.

Always wait to see national costumes of Thailand and Japan every year, it's unique, creative and beautiful.
Laos national costume which is awarded in 2018 made in Thailand by Thai designer and for 2019 too. So Thai people feel proud for the award as same as Laos do.

Yes. I agree. I like the costumes of Thailand. They are the best. I'm from Philippines. Some our countrymen agree to it. The costume is out of the box. They portray so well.

Oh!!! God!!! Same!!! Thoughts!!! I know right!!! I mean it looks so regal, and stunning, by far it is one of my most favorite national costume ever!!!, Oh yeah and I think the fashion designer that made this was Gou Pei and I think she was the same designer that made that grand long yellow robe gown that Rihanna wore on that year of Met Gala: China Through The Looking Glass in 2015 if I'm not mistaken!!!..........

Combining all natcos from 1962-2019, nobody can surpass japan’s 2017 natcos..simple,creative,intelligently made and truely resembles their rich culture and tradition..

Gazini won the National Costume in 2019. The judges felt it should go to her for they feel sorry & knew that she can't be making it further to the prestigious Top 10. For me China had the most gorgeous, modern resplendent of a modern Empress dress.

Asian countries have rich traditional cultures, myths and other stuff that help people be creative when it comes to making national costumes. Some countries don't have that privilege, for example the USA. BTW. I love how 2019 Philippines moved her head like a Philippine eagle's head. and 2017 Japan turned from a samurai to a geisha! AMAZING!.
Few of miss universe winners have won the NC award As Amelia, Wendy, and thailand in 1988...
