I've been on a Miss Saigon kick lately and of this scene in particular. I've watched every version of Kim's Nightmare I could find and this is one of my favorites.

In my opinion 5:05 shows obsessed theatre fans every time a Touring show closes and they are unable to accept it. Lol

The flag folding is in most productions, they're taking down the flag as they are evacuating the embassy.

this is why time management is important

I disagree! I think it's a major flaw - a brilliant technical theatrical effect, but hugely distracting from the excellent score and songs, as audience members leave the theatre fawning over the helicopter and dismissing other elements.

@@thomashayes5597 I get the impression they were referring to the entirety of "Nightmare" in general (in which case I mostly agree). As for the helicopter, I see how it can be distracting/divisive, as you say

Great cast. The actress playing Kim is wonderful/

Excellent job! Particularly the sound engineers. Sometimes can be hard to here the dialogue in this scene but everything was crystal clear. Anyone know if this was with a live pit or soundtrack?

This was a live pit. This company always used to use live musicians, they've since gone out of business.

It is meant to look a kabuki mask I think

He's inside the embassy and she's outside... he tries to call her but she isn't home, she is trying to get inside the embassy so doesn't get his call.

bad recording. I saw her live and she's fire

When I saw this live years ago they machine gunned everyone at the end (except Kim)... do they not do that anymore?

Why is this so different from the soundtrack? I personally like the soundtrack better. I've never had the pleasure of seeing this in the theatre tho.

Ariel L this was a non equity/Broadway production meaning a random company bought the rights to do this production outside of actors equity/broadway. That happens once a show has finished its official broadway and tour runs. The direction, music, and scenery are very different because it’s not the original. However as of 2018 there is a new official US tour that’s fantastic.

Jesus! You purists are annoying! Believe it or not, there are better vocalists than Lea. Granted, she's my favorite Kim overall, but I have seen Kims with better voices/acting choices.

I doubt it, sounds engeiner is way too poor for it to be prefessional, acting and singing is very impresive though

I was in this cast, a lot of the cast members were on the Broadway / US / Canadian / Australian / UK tour... mix of equity and equity eligible members.

The energy is so low....

Very well done. But the flag folding was out of place....
