Miss Lou (Part 1) ~ LONG TIME GAL
Miss Lou -- Dr. Louise Bennett Coverley has made a distinguished contribution to the development of Arts and Culture in both in Jamaica and the Caribbean region at large. Through her skillfully penned prose in Jamaican patois, Miss Lou has been able to raise the folk dialect to an art level now accepted and appreciated by all Jamaicans.

I learned this song one of the many times, I visited Jamaica as a child.
I grew up on Louise Bennet and Ronny Williams. I used to listen to them on JBC radio every day. I love them so much. They were the background to my very happy childhood.

Who is Ronny Williams
I had never heard of this woman before we sang this song in choir and it’s a damn shame. I’m not Jamacian but the pure unadulterated happiness I feel when I hear it makes me cry tears of joy. She brings a type of fun and a love of music and community to her performance that I see in few other people.
Memories don't live like people do love this song
Love it. Born in England. Jamaican roots.
Rip rest in peace your folk will live on and on
I always complain that Jamaicans are loosing their culture. Beautiful folk songs and a language that is so unique but has been ridiculed by many that we want to hide it in order to fight against the stereotypes that we a ignorant. I LOVE IT. Thanks for uploading

@guyanapoemz You are most welcome. I find our Caribbean culture to be one that is uniquely rich and beautiful with the various patois and flavourful dialects. Simply irresistible and enchanting. I have at least 10 more tracks from Miss Lou (Dr. Louise Bennett) to upload very soon. I hope that you will enjoy those too.
