Asking questions only a trained politician could answer...the pageant officials should be ashamed of themselves for embarrassing these women in such a manner.

The correct answer is follow in Venezuela's footsteps. Things like free college and free utilities would definitely close the wage gap.

It's good to see someone who knows what they're talking about. I completely agree, it's terrible what's going on over there. I always forget frustrated sarcasm doesn't translate to text very well. I would encourage anyone hoping for a narrowing "between the rich and the poor," to watch Stefan Molyneux's video on what is going on in Venezuela to get an idea on what free stuff, including things like college and utilities, eventually brings.

Anyone can freeze up at a moment like this--ESPECIALLY if it means a lot to you. I took the Jeopardy computer test & qualified for the in-person game audition. It was so much harder in a real game situation! I did fine, but it felt like everything was happening at a million miles an hour. She's a lovely girl, one of my favorites in the pageant.

Taxing the rich. Is that too difficult to answer? These pageant girls major in communication in college, but they don't actually go to school.

The gap between rich and poor will never be solved because everything should be balanced. The gap is what holds us together by making us work harder for our economic goals. (My father told me this when I asked him why we were poor and why don't the rich help us? Then he told me that the rich work for what they got, they work with there minds, and we work with our hands. You choose what side u want to be, so if u want to be rich or economically stable then don't give up school and give up the your goals) Now I'm economically stable. Gracias por tus consejos papa. :)

That is a hard question for this format. You can give the feel good answer of "We need to listen to economists instead of politicians for answers. We need to come together as one country and help each other out so everyone has equality of opportunity through access to a decent education and a stable home life" but that isn't great. It is still the best I can think of off the top of my head for this style competition.

"How do we narrow the gap between the rich and the poor." _The answer the judges want to hear:_ "Umm, we need to provide better educational opportunities and programs for the poor in this country, so that they have a better chance to succeed. Increase taxes for the rich. Promote highly skilled well paying professions to our youth. _The real answer:_ "We live in a Capitalist society, the rich got that way because they know how the system works, and their taking full advantage of it, if you're poor you have the opportunity to join the top 10 percent, you just need to be *Smart* with your money. This question is phrased as if you want to move towards a communist society, which looking at the former Soviet Union is NOT the way you want to go."
