Kathie Lee Yelled "YES" when she was announced the winner. Both her and Regis said she was a stand out when they had arrived at the pageant during the week

They said they narrowed it down to 3 or 4 contestants when she appeared on live with Regis and Kathie Lee the Monday after winning.

To me, the most beautiful Miss Americas are the ones who look like they don't need the crown to shine! Vanessa Williams is one of them, so is Debbye Turner, so is Heather Whitestone, and is so this woman, Kimberly Aiken, just to name a few.

Yep! Her gown was awful! That is what is what killed it for her. It was the worst of all the top 10 contestants! Had she worn a White gown, I think she would have won.

I live in Greenville and you should have read the newspapers here the day after she was selected to be “Miss South Carolina”. Ugly and misogynistic doesn’t even begin to describe the fact that she was selected. Started off with, “We can judge our own.” “She will never be selected as Miss America”. “Yankee judges” and “Women judges” were a few of the disparaging comments that were made. Apparently there was some scandal about whose swim suit and evening gown were worn. You HAD to wear the chosen dress. Wanted to see what the Greenville News would say. Was out of town when she won.
