I associate this album with one of the best times of my life. Was in a metalcore band, was playing a lot of local shows and even some bigger venues that I had dreamed of playing at, was in an awesome relationship, and I was writing what I thought was kickass music that was heavily inspired by this band and others like them. Good times. I still listen to this album as often as I can, one of the greatest metalcore albums ever written. I think the mid to late 00's was like the golden era for this style of music. This album came out, then the following year August Burns Red released Constellations. Just two awesome examples.

I’d roll into my high school parking lot most mornings of junior year in ‘09 blairinggg this masterpiece out of my ‘98 Sentra’s sound system that I severely overpaid for at Best Buy.. And my gosh was it worth it… I wanted every decibel and sound wave of this track to decimate everything outside of the vehicle, but then repair it with heartfelt angelic bliss from the chorus …

powerful. the only way to describe the entire album. Controller is one of my top five favorites. Even the more vulnerable songs like Ebb and Flow and Homecoming are powerful. I was never a fan of Karl, I liked Jesse a whole lot more, but this album made me appreciate just how good a vocalist Karl is. His personality might suck..but he's good at what he does. Gotta give him that! He writes very well too.

"Keep searching, the answers will never come." What does that mean?
@syntheee
4 жыл бұрын
In a nutshell: Religion does not give you any answers. The song is about s.o. who has freed himself from religion. Instead of asking questions about life he is accepting his existence as is ("Embrace this sickness with open arms"). He does not want to follow all the other sheep "raising their eyes from sleep ... searching" for meaning in everything. So he leaves all his "burdens at the door" (of a church I think) and promises he will "never walk (t)here again".

This song gives me chills EVERY time I listen to it. Such great musicianship, wish this band got more credit.

The whole album tho, damn.
Keep searching, many years later and these guys still hold a spot through my speakers. This, Nothing, and Five Years. True masterpieces.
wow... its been all these years but I still like this song very much. One of the best songs ever I just love how the song goes hard in the beginning and ends soft and chill
This bend and Avgust Burns Red are the best metalcore bands in my opinion. I don't listen to this style of metal much, but this is kickass!
anyone else still listening to this in 2019Aug !most underrated metal core band🔥love MS!
This is what metalcore should be (imo), Combination of scream & clean vocal, and guitar solo. Respect for band

So, basically most metalcore bands if not all? Misery Signals doesn't even have clean vocals on every of their song but one thing for sure is quality. It's not easy to find a quality metalcore band that's on par with MS.
2020 Quarantined cheers from Brazil Be safe bishes
WHY THE HELL HAVEN'T I BEEN LISTENING TO THIS FOR 5 YEARS?! I just heard it for the first time and I'm seriously pissed at myself for not having looked them up the first time I heard of them years ago.
Controller - by far one of the best metalcore albums ever made. Never gets old even after all these years.
Met the lead singer at the Canberra show! Such a cool dude, and the voice...BRUTAL!!
Yup. These guys got me through my war year.
2017 AND I STILL LISTEN TO THIS SONG
just saw misery last night at MOD club in toronto. best live band ive seen in a while. sights and sounds / architects (uk) / dead and divine / haste the day all opened for misery signals. you watch those bands, and thery are all great live and have good songs, and then you watch misery signals, and its such a huge step up from everything else. their songs have so much substance and sound so full and layered. my fav band, hands down
Love the polyrhythm beat and guitar solo that goes together reallly well so much
Love this song now! I've loved them since the very beginning.
This kind of metalcore was new new metal.
I remember hearing this song for the first time.....then I heard the rest of the album. It is excellent sire!!!
Thank you so much for your music
controller was so sickk.

Joshua Szeker is**
powerful. the only way to describe the entire album.
I'm never getting tired of this band. Last singer was good, new singer is good. all CDs so far have smashed my face in with awesomeness. Take to the skies guys. You're staying my metal veins forever. Keep up the great work
I cannot stress enough how amazing this whole album is (Controller) Especially the last two songs.
2017 and still listening to it.
1:56 chills
i literally just randomly clicked on this video, and i'm glad to say that Misery Signals has a new fan. awesome stuff.
I love this song and band!!!!!! The screaming reminds me a little of August Burns Red and As I Lay Dying, and the singing does too. Absolutely amazing.
Best gym song ever. Actually the whole album is fucking incredible, I give some credit to the mixers/engineers for that :P
1:20 you can hear the meshuggah influence lol sounds like something off Choasphere

I've seen you on other videos. Great taste in music. Misery Signals is one of the most influential metalcore/melodic hardcore bands of all time yet they're still underlooked. They were doing a lot of stuff that is popular now.

"Keep searching, the answers will never come." What does that mean?

In a nutshell: Religion does not give you any answers. The song is about s.o. who has freed himself from religion. Instead of asking questions about life he is accepting his existence as is ("Embrace this sickness with open arms"). He does not want to follow all the other sheep "raising their eyes from sleep ... searching" for meaning in everything. So he leaves all his "burdens at the door" (of a church I think) and promises he will "never walk (t)here again".
A really awesome song by a really awesome band! Love the combination of the sick screaming vocals and the soulful clean vocals.
Wow. This is awesome. Seriously awesome.
not sure how I got here, but damn...I'm impressed. And what's the story with this extremely awesome drumming?

i love their guitar riffs.....such a great band and so unique
i just love the melodic guitaring, it really makes misery signals stand out
they barely have any clean singing whatsoever, stop complaining
this is what i have been looking for in so many bands today. the combination of brutality and melody of this is pure bliss. i have found the perfect song for me. i will listen to this until the day i die... or maybe until they release their next album.
This song has so much meaning to me. They portrayed the image that the lyrics convey very well in the video. Religion being a prison/cage and freeing your mind from it. No one does it like Misery Signals.
hes got a clear ass scream.. i understood every single word without lookin at lyrics
i love this song... mixing cleans in to a heavy song is great as long as its done right. this song proves that point
that's awesome. i have all their albums and i didn't even know that. canadians rock hard.
One of the few bands (I know of) that effortlessly combines beautiful lyrics with music.
2018 and still rocking out. Wish these guys would come back
I literally seen this sign on wwe smackdown listen to misery signals ...so glad I did
Listening in 2020. Wow. The nostalgia. Can really appreciate what these guys have done for metal.
they play this absolutely PERFECT live
Misery Signals makes my day better. i love them
Quite possibly my fav metalcore band, I never get tired of Controller. It's a great album through and through.
that guitar solo at the end is just perfection
ohhh man....finally a brutal band with melodic vocals, crazy beats, and well put together music.....sweet
OMG!! My favorite band since controller.. The lead guitarist is simply the best.. Cant wait for the new album..
such an amazing song!!
can't get enough of this band..
this song is so awesome
One of my favorite bands
This song is so beautiful
im in love with these;o
i know. hes one of the cleanestt screamers out there. i love it and his voice is so deep. no one can scream like him.
Still one of my favorite albums
I agree with this immeasurably eloquent gentleman. The album is good for anything. Literally anything. Be it driving, pumping iron, or killing squirrels. Also a fantastic pain suppressant. Just good stuff.
maaan cant wait for a new album!!
I missed listening to this song!!!
Great track !!!
This is my first listening to this band and i'm pretty surprised of their great ammount of talent. I don't care what genre is this, i only know this guys sound really good and deserve a lot of support. This will be definitely one of my new favorite bands, along with Septic Flesh and Meshuggah. This guys rock!
