I still listen to Controller in my car every single day. Truly a timeless classic in the genre, and the internet’s greatest little secret. Seriously, I wish I could talk about Mis Sigs with actual people in real life... but alas nobody knows they exist.

Greatest band of all-time simply for Controller; that's how incredible that album is. The atmosphere, the lyrics, the versatility, the song structures, the haunting leads, etc.

I associate this album with one of the best times of my life. Was in a metalcore band, was playing a lot of local shows and even some bigger venues that I had dreamed of playing at, was in an awesome relationship, and I was writing what I thought was kickass music that was heavily inspired by this band and others like them. Good times. I still listen to this album as often as I can, one of the greatest metalcore albums ever written. I think the mid to late 00's was like the golden era for this style of music. This album came out, then the following year August Burns Red released Constellations. Just two awesome examples.

My favorite thing about his voice is he enunciates so well. You really notice it on Controller, you can basically understand every word that he's singing. He'll also finish words, instead of just trailing off.

This! Back in 2008 i was still a classic metal guy except for the metalcore scene and lamb of god. I liked when screamers enunciated their words and still do. This album and the vocals are exactly what i mean. Ive since grown to listen to deathcore and other metal genres, but back then i could jam this album all the time

To be honest, I'm not into metalcore for breakdowns. I think the best thing about this band, for me, it's the song pattern. They're not very common place for a metalcore band, and they're guitars are pretty original. Althought I labelled them as metalcore, it seems like an unfair name to use in this kind of band.

I’d roll into my high school parking lot most mornings of junior year in ‘09 blairinggg this masterpiece out of my ‘98 Sentra’s sound system that I severely overpaid for at Best Buy.. And my gosh was it worth it… I wanted every decibel and sound wave of this track to decimate everything outside of the vehicle, but then repair it with heartfelt angelic bliss from the chorus …

powerful. the only way to describe the entire album. Controller is one of my top five favorites. Even the more vulnerable songs like Ebb and Flow and Homecoming are powerful. I was never a fan of Karl, I liked Jesse a whole lot more, but this album made me appreciate just how good a vocalist Karl is. His personality might suck..but he's good at what he does. Gotta give him that! He writes very well too.

  • @syntheee

    4 жыл бұрын

In a nutshell: Religion does not give you any answers. The song is about s.o. who has freed himself from religion. Instead of asking questions about life he is accepting his existence as is ("Embrace this sickness with open arms"). He does not want to follow all the other sheep "raising their eyes from sleep ... searching" for meaning in everything. So he leaves all his "burdens at the door" (of a church I think) and promises he will "never walk (t)here again".

I agree with this immeasurably eloquent gentleman. The album is good for anything. Literally anything. Be it driving, pumping iron, or killing squirrels. Also a fantastic pain suppressant. Just good stuff.

This is my first listening to this band and i'm pretty surprised of their great ammount of talent. I don't care what genre is this, i only know this guys sound really good and deserve a lot of support. This will be definitely one of my new favorite bands, along with Septic Flesh and Meshuggah. This guys rock!
