Mirrorguard vs Milenco Mirror Protectors

I bought a nice shiny pair of Mirrorguard mirror protectors to replace my horrible set of Milenco mirror protectors. This is how I fitted the Mirrorguard Mirror Protectors, but not necessarily how you should fit them. I'm sure it should be easier than this!

We have the Mirrorguards on our motorhome, about 2 years old now. A bit of trouble getting them on, but the washing up liquid round the seal definitely helped. We've not had the mirrors hit anything substantial, but they have been knocked back in narrow roads by hedges and no damage to the Mirrorguards or the mirrors. So far, no issue with them discolouring. Really pleased with them even though they are more expensive.

Hi Bob. Mirror guards are so much better than the Milenco ones, yes they are harder to fit and more expensive but far far better quality and will last for ages.

Bought the same mirrorguard protectors at the NEC show Nov 22 - my hubby did same as you with fairy liquid but it was a hell of a fight getting them on - he still isn’t convinced that the sticky pads are stuck onto the mirrors properly but so far so good - they’ve stayed on and look as good as new

Hi Bob, we decided to fit mirror gaurd protectors last year and understood they were difficult to fit, so on a sunny day we put them in the conservatory for a couple of hours to warm up and left the van in the shade, with a smear of fairy liquid they slipped on easily and when they cooled they were a perfect fit so far so good

We have had ours since 2018, they still look good. Brian did put some clear mastic inside as he didn't trust the tape. Quite expensive but still going strong. We have had no bashes yet only the odd hedge or tree branch.😊

Hi Bob. Purchased our mirror guard protectors in Jan 2020. I remember struggling to put them on and resorted to using some clamps to get them into position. They have lasted extremely well and despite taking a few knocks have protected the mirrors from damage. The nearside mirror protector has taken knocks from unexpected protruding branches at 30mph and steel posts on narrow country lanes at slow speed without a problem. These may be a little more expensive and a job to fit but in my opinion are well worth it. No noticeable discolouration.

Bob had mine for about three years now, also had the same issue trying to fit them especially on one side I thought the foam insert might be too thick in some areas. I can pull mine off but they seem to stay in place, my near side took a big whack and has now got a big crack in it but it did it’s job in that there is no damage to the actual mirror or original case.

Hi Bob, I have fitted three sets of Mirrorguard protectors to different Motorhomes over the last few years and they are far superior than anything else on the market and will outlast your ownership of the motorhome. I have had no problem fitting these Mirrorguards, the problem is your Fairy Liquid its actually too good and thick. You should have added a little water to make a soap solution to reduce the viscosity. Use of a own brand because it is thinner is usually ok. Keep up the good work, Peter Clayton

Hi Bob and Jenny, I have just fitted Mirrorguards to my new WildAx Pulsar. I chose Silver which is an excellent match for the Fiat Artense Grey colour. I found them a bit difficult to fit too but I used plenty of Fairy Liquid so I expect I will be a mass of bubbles the next time it rains! Sadly there were no instructions on how to fit them and I searched for videos online and they are few and far between so it’s good to see you’ve done a video. Fingers crossed they’ll do the job!😁xx

Hi. Bob. I've had milenco white ones on my van for about 3 years. They have both been whacked a few times, I just take em off ,wash, dry and spray with exterior acrylic paint spray. Had mine on for 2 1/2 years now no issues with them ,taken a few heavy hits with no damage to the mirrors. They a definitely a pig to fit, I used some ratchet straps as well as some clamps to help pull they up tight. A second pair of hands also helps.

Hi Bob. After loosing my offside mirror in a 50mph impact with a motorhome I tried to get the mirror guard ones and they were not available at the time. I reluctantly bought the Milenco ones but I have been very pleased with them. They are two years old and still like brand new. Just give them a wash along with the rest of the van every now and then with soapy water using Autoglyn car shampoo. Do you think the Dry Sparkle may be a little too harsh for the plastic?

No comparison. Our Milenco ones (2017) met a lorry on the A82 and shattered. We bought Mirrorguard replacements, what a superior quality product. Not sure what the current Mikenco protectors are like, but we've met a few idiots trying to drive on the wrong side of the road, Killin was one area and the Mirrorguards have been brilliant. Fingers xd.

I bought black Mirror Guard ones as they are better made ( thicker and well padded ) and easier to clean, they also stay looking good for far longer . Milenco are ok but why buy those when you can get a much better product for only a few pounds more. I’d buy Mirror Guard over them any day. Yes Bob they are hard to put on but after the fight it’s worth it. Mine aren’t flush either but they are on.

I fit some of the mirror guards to our van, your over thinkinking it Bob, Do what you did in the first place with some fairy liquid and push them on into place as best as you can and then leave them, the fairy will dry and they do stick very well, mine never came off in 5 years - well not until i hit a metal pole in a tunnel while driving in Norways tunnels, mirror itself was untouched but the guard only came off with minor damage, it did hit a metal pole at full force at about about 50mph
