Mirror Janeway was a Pirate
Ойындар
The Mirror Universe has introduced us to the darker versions of our characters and even during the times of Rebellion when the Terrans were the underdogs, they were never really the good guys. Mirror Universe Captain Janeway eventually rose to the rank of Marshall and served as the Delta Quadrants most notorious Pirate Queen.

In the Star Trek multiverse, there is a 90% correlation between Janeway and addiction to coffee.
Voyager's finale shows that Janeway can be quite a nasty one, if pressed into a corner. It would be hardly surprising to see an overtly aggressive Janeway coming from the Mirror Universe, while keeping the same traits of the Prime version

Imo there's various points in the show that presents her as someone who would go VERY far out of her way to get what she wants. Didn't she ram into the krenim ship just to make sure to kill them without even knowing it'd reset time? On the opposite end, when they were traveling across that expanse of nothing, she just locked herself up because she was bored of the idea of seeing nothing in any direction for the next 6 months to the point that the crew was somewhat annoyed that she more or less just fucked off without telling anyone aside from Tuvok? Honestly I've always liked that Janeway had a rarely seen direct and harsh side to her that you never really saw in the other Captains, only one that may have got close was Sisko and he often regretted acting like that. Janeway couldn't care less

I really like Janeway in this STO storyline. Frankly, I'm tired of these cartoonishly evil Terrans who just yell about killing you painfully, over and over again. It gets tiresome very quickly. The problem is that it's not just the incompetent writers of the actual show that actually believe Janeway's hype, but the 'official' line seems to be that she really is what the hacks presented her as. And while I kinda like the Marshal as presented here, it would have been at least as amusing to have a kind, nice, maybe even sappy Janeway who had climbed the ranks through a combination of Flashman-style shenanigans (although in her case it would have been selfless decisions that looked ruthless to observers) and more ruthless (and aware) people who preferred her way to Imperial standard.

@@boobah5643 Forget amusing, after mulling it over last night, I'm convinced Mirror Janeway is somehow in the Prime Universe, and Prime Janeway is trapped in the Mirror Universe, and this has been this way for ages. Mirror Janeway is the one that went to the Delta Quadrant and ultimately almost destroyed the Borg. Hard to imagine S3ven didn't see some time in a maturation chamber, accelerating her aging between the ages of 8 (probably when she was grabbed) to her late teens to early twenties (when most human growth processes finish). If the mirror Anika managed to stay unassimilated and stay growing naturally, she'd probably be looking ten years younger than her prime universe counterpart when the mirror Voyager found her.

From the lines of dialogue in STO I took it that Marshal Janeway conquered The Borg and usurped the Borg Queen as ruler. She literally is the Borg Queen now and used that new power to gain a position of power in the Terran Empire under the Emperor. Just like Mirror Leta got power from the Pah-wraiths and became Captain of the ISS Enterprise.
Marshall Janeway does seem to command respect. I like the route STO and the comics went with the Terrans. They are ruthless but still pragmatic and will use alien technology, alien races in their ranks, and will honor teamwork until it comes time to advance (though their seems to be suggested "rules" for when advancement is appropriate)

I really don't like the Terrans or mirror universe, personally. Terrans are just... Romulan/Klingon hybrids, essentially. Niches already filled by two alien civilizations. There's nothing saying those niches can't be filled in a realistic sense by more than one civilization, but in a thematic sense? Eh. In Star Trek, alien species wear their "hats", and are expected to. I don't like it, but varying from that formula makes the Terrans feel out of place.

Warship Voyager in "Living Witness" was probably the closest to a Mirror Universe Voyager they could get, given the Lore established by DS9: According to DS9 the empire had fallen, so there was no logical way for the Voyager to even _exist_ without a Imperial Starfleet. It’d be hilarious if the Equinox, realizing that Terran supremacy was useless in the Delta Quadrant, ended up going the path of interspecies cooperation like Prime Voyager. It’d gain a reputation of a reserved yet surprisingly eager helper in order to further its goals of reaching home (as fate would decide that its journey was less harrowing than its Prime counterpart). Eventually, however, many of the species they encounter end up immediately surrendering their cargo upon hearing “ISS”, thinking that Equinox was a vanguard of the Pirate Queen’s fleet. Equinox would take advantage of this boon, of course, tho would grow wary of this “ISS Voyager” whose reputation is preceding even their own modest vessel. Inevitably, Equinox is encountered by Voyager, and Pirate Queen Janeway would sneer at how “soft” its captain & crew have gotten in their desperation. They’d be offered a place in the Pirate Fleet, of course, but more likely, they’ll be seen as a liability that would be destroyed at the first sign of treachery.

80, 100 years after Kirk it is inaccurate to speak of THE mirror'verse. There have been divergences. There will be timelines were the Terran Empire didn't fully fall, just was reduced and is pushing back as we see with the ISS Voyager. So they're both telling the truth, and we have seen a mirror Janeway as an Imperial Captain who is claiming whatever it takes to get home. Spock's reforms, but still as ruthless a wasp.
