I love how the backstory of this zone was that it was scrapped in both Sonic 2 and CD, and in both times when their remake came out they almost put this zone in one of those two games, instead it was put in this game, not a bad choice.

It wasn't cut from CD, just Sonic 2 and the remake of CD. In the original Sonic CD, the cut stage (referred to as R2) was going to be a stage similar to Aquatic Ruins from Sonic 2 with rainbow waterfalls, as seen by concept art. Desert Dazzle was the cut stage from 2011 remake that eventually turned into Mirage Saloon, but it has no relation to R2.

@@briggsgametime I mean that would be cool but i doubt they would do that since they haven't done that since sonic 3 but I do think mania 2 will be a progression of mania 1. I think it'll need way more new stages to stand out but still have some of the iconic ones to choose from they didn't use from mania 1 like emerald hill, ice cap, palm tree panic, mushroom hill, casino night, Star light and metropolis. I think mania 2 should feature maybe shadow in the classic style and even like 10+ new stages.

@@briggsgametime eh I don't really play sonic spinoffs. They can barely get the platformer thing right... id prefer a continuation or sequel to mania cause of how good it was then maybe go in a new direction afterwards cause usually sequels in games are better than the originals.
