Was just praying for you today, Rabbi Bernis. My son is still in recovery from his heart transplant. He too only waited a few days for his new heart. He has his 7th Heart Cath and Biopsy later this week; so far, NO SIGNS OF REJECTION!!! I'm still believing Jesus/Yeshua will get ahold of him and bring him to Himself. He has seen alllll the miracles the Lord has done to get him to where he is; he had to learn to be able to do everything again as well. He spent almost 2 months in the hospital between surgery, recovery and rehab. He is set to begin Cardio Rehab after consultation tomorrow. I know the Lord saved him for His Purpose. Shalom, and thank you for sharing your story. I tear up remembering our Boy ringing the bell too when he left rehab.

I enjoyed hearing about Jonathan's miraculous recovery!🙏 The gentleman by his side has a good way about him but felt like he rushed the process much too soon. After this harrowing experience Jonathan needed to express and convey the gamut of emotions but his attempts were thwarted. In any event good 2c him. May Abba extend his years with his beloved wife, children / grandchildren❤

I always wonder how a believer can accept any transplant of organs. Could you please, give some aspects for a decision like this? And the aftermath life? I've learned a lot about organ transplants, how they are harvested and what kind of medicine a transplanted person must take so that the body accepts the foreign organ. Is it really a "normal godgiven" extension of life? Thank you for answering some hard ethical questions concerning this transplant subject!❤

Well… I can’t speak for the man above, but I don’t understand your logic in this. Do you believe that modern medicine was something given from above so that people could live longer, or don’t you? By your logic, one should never take anything that can heal and extend life, because logic. 🙄 If it weren’t for modern medicine, the life expectancy of human beings would revert to the short existence it was centuries ago. Stub your toe and get a cut, it gets infected and you ☠️. Why? Because the antibiotics needed to cure the infection would not be allowed. This sounds like that kooky Christian Scientist logic, honestly. Transplants are perfectly acceptable. It’s a way to sustain life, a gift from those whose journey on this earth has ended. There is absolutely no reason why someone shouldn’t pursue that option if it’s available to them, because denying treatment and knowing death is the result is effectively suicidal (depending upon the context). Frankly, you’re going to have to back up that crazy ideology with scriptures showing that physicians aren’t allowed to heal, because that’s what they were given the knowledge for.

People have wrestled with this type of decision for a long time. I read an online article that dealt with organ transplant in Israel. I encourage you to look it up. Scripture seems mute on this subject but there are principles that guide our decision making. I know that I would not think it too deeply unless I or a loved one would be in need of one. Some things seem out there until it touches us directly. In 2008 I was deathly ill and needed a blood transfusion. That blood enabled me to live. I prayed to the Father to allow me to live. I had a five year old boy at the time.
