Was just up there last month playing. Nice lil poker room. Did well first night , second night couldn’t even get a 2/5 game started. Kinda weird although it was a Tuesday night.

IMO, you can only bet the river with a straight if the Straddler has AJ+ in his range. If he's any decent, he should be squeezing a late position open and calls from the blinds with AJo+ and maybe ATs so you can eliminate those hands from his range. So yeah, unfortunately, there wasn't a hand other than ATo and A8 that would call your river bet while there were a ton of hands in his range that beat you.

on your ace-8 hand, i think your opponent had pocket tens or pocket jacks. i have to say i dont like the bluff attempt for a variety of reasons but congrats u got it through.

I think it's ABSURD that a casino would have objections to shooting just cards at the table, especially from a content creator with over a quarter million subscribers. This isn't 2017, it's 2023, and the modern game of poker owes a lot to the content creators like you and others who promote venues and grow the game. Just dumb and shortsighted on their part.

It is absurd but when you tell content creators ‘you can’t film here’ what do they do? They play anyway! They should leave almost immediately after making the rounds and telling anyone they know they aren’t playing because the casino doesn’t allow filming but they never do so the casinos never get the point.

No where in Canada let's vloggers tape. Playground casino is the only one I've ever heard of. That's why there's no Canadian vloggers and I know here in British Columbia and Vancouver especially no one allows it. And it's bs

Ethan my poker buddies and I have called 6-4 "mongoose" forever. Nobody knows why or how this started but a premium starter like that definitely deserves its own name. 😀

He clearly should’ve just 5-bet jammed. The opponent almost surely has a big pocket pair or AK. Maybe AQ. Almost no chance that they’d fold a preflop shove.

Trapping and trying to get as much out of the pot as possible comes with risks . The rewards are massive, but if you don’t bet enough you end up not knowing where the heck you are. And letting pocket anything come along for the ride isn’t healthy :) Thats why it’s called gambling folks.

The first hand I think you got paid as much as you could get, I suspect he cold 4bet with something like AK, pocket 9s or some other suited connectors that didn't hit and gave up.

How did he get paid the max? He should’ve 5-bet preflop. If someone is 4-betting, they either have a big pocket pair or AK, maybe AQ. After they 4-bet, odds are you can jam with aces and you’ll get called. He very likely could’ve doubled up by 5-bet jamming.

@@JT-gi8rx he checked the flop, bet small on the turn and folded river? Clearly he didn't have Kings, Queens or Jacks or he might have called the river bet. A 5-bet over the SB looks SUPER strong and unless he had Kings, Queens or AK I doubt he calls. Ethan could have raised turn, but again I don't think he was going to call unless he had some draw or pocket pair bigger than a T. That's the only way I see Ethan getting more money. And even then unless he hits, he's not calling a river bet and Ethan's losing then.

@@Dariusknight that’s why he likely had AK, maybe AQ or KQ. Just saying, preflop, if the guy is 4-betting, you can put him on a big pair or A-x exclusively. Maybe a middling pocket pair? Judging how the guy slowed down, it’s quite likely he had AK or AQ. After the guy bets $1000 preflop, you don’t think he’d call another $1k on top? Ethan started with $2500, so he jams it’s another $1,500 for the guy to call. Ethan knows he’s beating any pocket pair that’s in that spot, and crushes any Ace with a broadway card, unless they get a very lucky runout. So when the guy 4-bets preflop, he’s got a monster, and the odds of him calling another $1.5k after he 4-bet to $1k is very high. I’d say it’s a 90% chance the guy calls. It’s worth taking that chance rather than slow playing, because if he has AK then he’s going to fizzle out with the betting once the flop comes and he misses.

@@JT-gi8rx I think he 4 bet $1000 to try and take the pot down preflop. If he was that strong he'd have bet big himself either flop, turn or river. I think you're right in that he had a middling pocket pair or AK, KQ, which is why with no draw and Ethan calling his small turn bet meant he was sure he wasn't good on the river even if he hit his Q, hence why I say I don't think Ethan could have made much more. A 5 bet jam might have induced him to call, but again, since he's likely on a middling pocket pair or AK/AQ/KQ that probably doesn't want to just call and be OOP the whole hand is why I say he was just squeezing and got caught doing so.
