Ойындар

Playthrough video going over some rules and showing the full game.
Mistake at a 30 min, I moved and used Mana Bolt to attack in the same turn.

    This looks so great! I haven’t been able pull out Mage Knight since having a baby six months ago, but this seems much more manageable to get on the table and fill that itch. Great playthrough!

    Awesome video! It was extremely helpful in validating several rules for me while also showing a few mistakes I was making. Thank you. Question - can you attack a castle/enemy over multiple rounds? All the examples I seen in the video only show you obliterating them in a single round. If you ever find the time, I would really enjoy watching another playthrough. Perhaps show off the spells? If not, no worries. It was still very helpful.

    Like all combat, it must end in the turn you initiate it. That means, yes it has to be done in one combat. I may try to do another video soon when I get some time and when work isn't as busy. I got really lucky having the crown and the Lord in this playthough which is very uncommon. I think I might try the harder variant with the next playthough and I usually go for spells. In the video I would have gotten Blizzard when it was available if I didn't have the lord. That -2 attack is huge on the castle I fought. reduces 8 block. or Gale is another good counter since the castle has low life, you can usually kill it in range. Glad you enjoyed the video and it could help.

    Quick question, how do you use the bottom artifact ability. Also which enemies get provoked when moving past. Im assuming building enemies dont. And does moving onto an enemies space provoke it?

  • @scottronics8469

    @scottronics8469

    1. You discard the artifact card (out of play) and use the bottom ability. It's a one time use. 2. Orcs + Dragons are roaming enemies that can be provoked 3. You can not move into a roaming enemy space. You provoke an enemy during the turn if you ever move in a way so that 2 spaces you traveled on/started on are adjacent to the roaming enemy. This means it's possible to move next to a roaming enemy and end your turn, and then engage it with a full hand of cards if you time your movements correct

    Is the initial terrain card’s color determined by the left most color of your hand cards? Edit: Just realized your left most is blue. Also why is it 6 movement to move two hexes? Edit: it’s 6 because of 2+4 movement cost, got it. Edit edit I’m having a tough time grokking the instructions from the card, thanks for the video

    Terrain cards color is determined by a cube you draw when the terrain card is revealed. All enemies will use that cube's color. Each terrain type has it's own terrain cost. Plains are 2, swamps are 4. Some types like the forest change depending on if it's day or night. The back of the tin shows the terrain costs.

    Question: at 30:00 you used your level skill to gain green mana. But the skill only says you can gain white, red, or blue mana. Should the skill also show your green mana?

    Yea it's one of the mistakes I made. It does NOT give you green mana. I was caught trying to show off the skill and filming and made the mistake. There was green mana in the source, and my brain was looking at that, but then I tried to show off the skill card and mistakes were made.

    just getting back to this game, and I just wondered why the keeps don't give you a benefit? I suspect it might just be "1 rule too many" but it's the only location that gives you no benefit (sure, you can recruit there). The +1 card yield in MK is very powerful.

    Yes I opted to remove that rule. Also, the Keeps are often "in the way" and more of a hinderance in Mint Knight. However, the paladin unit can only be recruited from a keep I believe. They have 3 physical immunity which can be very good in some battles.

    I'm kinda confused on how wounds work.... How I understand the system so far is that, the knight takes a wound automatically, if the monster is not killed during the range attack. Then, you subtrack the monster's attack with the knight' diffence and the result will correspond to additional wounds? Eg. 1 automatic wound. 5 attack - 2 diffence = 3 additional wounds, so 4 in total????

  • @scottronics8469

    @scottronics8469

    No. There are three phases in combat. Range -> Block -> Attack. If you do not kill the enemy in Range phase, it moves to block. If you do not fully block the enemy in block phase you must take wounds. Then you may do damage assuming you have cards to play. You repeat the following until the attack value is below or equal to zero. Take wound, then subtract the attack by your defense. Eg. Enemy has 5 attack and the player has defense of 2. Take 1 wound, then 5-2 = 3 attack left. so take another wound, then 3-2 = 1 attack. So take another wound, then 1-2 = -1 attack left. So in the above example, the player would take 3 wounds if they had 2 defense. A quick way is to divide attack by defense and take a wound for any value with a remainder. 5 attack with defense 2 = 3 wounds 6 attack with defense 2 = 3 wounds 5 attack with defense 3 = 2 wounds 6 attack with defense 3 = 2 wounds. Note that if a unit is taking the wounds, you use the defense on the unit and not your own. They also don't "take" wounds, instead they become wounded. If a unit is wounded they may not be used until healed. Yes you can wound an exhausted unit. Example: you exhaust a bard to move into a space. During the block phase you can't block so the bard could take the first wound subtracting their defense and then continue taking wounds as a player if there is still an attack value.

    @@paschalisantoniou974 Not a problem, I'm happy to answer questions. 1. Double attack power when calculating wounds. - If you don't block, then double the attack strength of an enemy. So if an enemy has 4 attack strength, they have 8 attack strength IF and only IF you are assigning wounds. If you play block cards, you only need to block an attack of 4 (not 8). 2. Double attack power when blocking - This is the opposite. When blocking the enemy has double the attack. So if an enemy has 4 attack strength, I would need 8 block. But if you don't block you only take the normal damage in wounds which is 4 strength in our example 3. Must block successfully. You can't actually win if you don't block successfully. You will never take wounds and MUST block successfully. You can never lose a battle. If you can't defeat the enemy you can't start a battle (part of the puzzle). An example of using multiple abilities. The green castle. It's a nasty castle that includes 2 and 3 from above. It has an attack of 5 magic, with double power when blocking and must block. That means you need 20 physical block or 10 magic block (or a combination of some) to block the enemy. That's because 5 magic attack requires 10 physical block and double it. But there are ways to counter the castle but I'll leave that to the player to find out.
