They are from Minneapolis and wrote their own music, played all instruments , and was produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.

A popular misconception. Although they were discovered by Jam & Lewis, this song and the entire first album was produced by The Time's drummer Jellybean Johnson.

That was Jimmy jam and terry Lewis that put Pretty brown eyes Through the whole song in the background. They’re all from the Prince area. However this band wrote Quit breaking my heart. Which was great. Prince former employees took the pretty browns eyes from the beginning and put it everywhere else.

Well they are from Minnesota and it has that Minneapolis sound because the record company didn’t like the song so Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis did some touch up work on it.

Late 1991/early 1992 was when I first heard this. This was & is a bop. This song slapped so hard when it first dropped as nothing out at the time sounded anything like this. So glad, across all genres, to have been blessed enough to be an 80s kid & 90s teen.

The first was "You send me swingin'" I first heard this song in high school and just fell in love with it immediately..the song was released in 1991. loved the reaction and thank you for all that you do ❤️❤️😘😘😀

Godamnit girl, I love mint condition but I've never thought Prince sounded like them, but they absolutely do. Prince loved them. He said they had 1 of the best groups. They hadn't met Prince when this album came out. Stokley (lead singer) said prince would just show up @ a random shows & throw shit on the stage.
