Minneapolis, Minnesota - Driving Tour of Downtown Minneapolis

In this video we take a drive through the heart of Downtown Minneapolis on a sunny day in June, 2021.
Join me as we take a drive up, down, and around several blocks of Minnesota's largest city. We start on the west side near the Basilica of St. Mary, and wind our way among the skyscrapers and skyways, winding our way to the edge of downtown along the Mississippi River.
Along the way, we'll pass the Theater District, the IDS Center, the Foshay Tower, First Avenue Nightclub, Target Center, the Warehouse District, the North Loop, The River Road, and the Hennepin Avenue Bridge.
Minneapolis is the larger of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul and is the largest city in the state of Minnesota. Thanks for joining me on the drive - hope you enjoy the scenery!

Minneapolis made them narrow on purpose. Downtown crashes are almost nonexistent until street racing happens (mostly at night). There is no better safety than forcing you to pay attention to everything!

Most MPLS is lad out as avenues N-S & streets N-W except downtown. It's kind of at an angle to true N due to streets originally being oriented to the river. Downtown also has a lot of one ways. The river area is stunning now.

For a year straight, I drove to St. Paul and Minneapolis stayed their for 5+ hours. I used to be right by Target Field / Center. I spent more time going out to Eagan and Bloomington. I picked up a pickup truck from a guy right as the pandemic started! I was on the interstate trying to leave with a motorcoach full of people during the Castille protests! I need to take a drive and look at more of the city!

Thank you for the video. I was in Minneapolis back at the end of August as one a few cities I’m looking to relocate to. I got to see and do a few things in the city and the nearby outskirts, even went to St Paul for a moment, though there we’re still many things I did not get to do. I’m looking forward to visiting soon again to explore more of the Twin Cities area.

No one is downtown at night unless there is Vikings or twins Game, and maybe a concert, As a Native Minnesotan I can Say that Minneapolis is the Least Minnesotan place in the state, even before the George Floyd riots and the decision by the city council to gut the already undersized and underfunded MPD, It was just another generic downtown full of all the Same stores and restaurants you might see at any other downtown, Losing Dayton's I think was a big blow to Minneapolis as a unique city. Now its just an overpriced unsafe city full of transplants and yuppies who wish they could live in New York... and its more expensive than Chicago now.

I’ve worked and lived downtown for years and went out plenty and there was never an issue, nor did I hear of someone else having an issue with violence. There was the occasional homeless person acting up but not violently. I never felt threatened. It’s more of a on drugs problem then violence. But it’s not an every day or every week thing. It’s completely different than other major cities downtowns I’ve been in. We were in Chicago for work and got chased by a guy with hammer for no reason at all, we later found out he was doing it to others for hours but the police didn’t care because he didn’t hit anyone yet. It was wild. Never experienced anything close to that in Mpls
