Minneapolis Fed president Neel Kashkari says signs "high-pressure" economy may be "cooling"
Neel Kashkari, the Minneapolis Federal Reserve president, tells "Face the Nation" that "it's certainly possible" unemployment will continue to tick up and there will be some economic "cooling" over the next few weeks. "We are looking at what I call a high-pressure economy in some dimensions, but there's also some evidence that it's cooling," he said.

Our economy is struggling with uncertainties, housing issues, foreclosures, global fluctuations, and the pandemic aftermath, causing instability. Rising inflation, sluggish growth, and trade disruptions need urgent attention from all sectors to restore stability and stimulate growth.

With the US dollar losing value to inflation and other currencies gaining traction, uncertainty looms. Yet, many still trust in the dollar's perceived safety. Worried about my $420,000 retirement savings losing value, I seek alternative security for my money.

Can inflation be really contained while annual federal budget deficit is 2 trillion?
@sdkfz2519

Yes, it can. Plus, the federal budget deficit was $1.4T in 2022 and $1.65T in 2023. Still huge figures, but not the $2T that you mentioned.

No, because there is a 2 year lag. The problems you see now are from money they printed in 2022, etc. So imagine how much interest we will owe in 2026, it will be worse.
LOL. The economic cooling will be a hard economic crash.

No idea why these guys are always on TV. Is it an ego thing? There is zero reason to do interviews between fed meetings. You aren't celebrities
Upper income wealthy are spending more, while the lower incomes are defaulting more debt. “Tax those whom the burden least affects!”
Canada lower their rates because of mortgage delinquencies and credit cards too. people are in trouble. I think US has one billion in mortgage delinquincies too this year if not more. And the prime minister of canada finallh admits inflation is caused by too much government spending. Thats the real solution , not increasing rates
The infinite cash guy!
Great interview
Why does this guy keep shoeing up in the press and doing more HARM? He talks too much and doesn’t do any good
How are they allowed to speak to the media?
An economic "strength" with the U.S. public debt at 122% of the GDP? What planet is this guy from???
Ppl r spending on experiences because quality of life sucks
The Fed never understood lead and lags and that's why we had the problems we had since Volcker - Kashkari shows that he still does not understand leads and lags and therefore, him, Powell and co are about to crash the economy again.

Bringing back some of the manufacturing from China to aide with the US Supply chains has helped but in the long term the US needs to get better trade policies with China.Get rid of those tariffs that are just driving up the cost of everything.

Tapped the brakes? You hit the skids on middle to lower class incomes. Losing jobs versus cutting hours and inflation causing credit card usage. The MN Fed isn’t explaining the big picture. I get it, being positive. It just doesn’t pass the smell test

Yup, they were open about it. They wanted the labor market to be tight. In other words, destroy the negotiating power of workers. This wouldn’t even be necessary to be this tight either if we didn’t deficit spend out of control and monetize the debt.
What Neel isn’t mentioning is the immigration effect on healthcare especially since tax payers are bearing the brunt of the cost. Not only just food but rent is soaring. The home inventory is low and projected to be low for the next 10 plus years. To include not being affordable for middle and lower incomes. They’re stuck with high rent and not able to save to buy a home. Having the new labor is great for the higher income earners but it’s just doubling down on middle and lower income citizens to own a home! Bidenomics, working for the upper 1/3 and flipping off the middle class and lower income families.

Vast majority of immigrants don't have federal or state healthcare. So, what you wrote is false. As a matter of fact, conservative poor states of "deep south" are taking taxpayers' money to subsidies their social care plans
They going to hold too long guaranteed.
These guys can't come up with an anti inflation plan that doesn't rely on decimating the least fortunate the most?

So you don’t want to crash the market but you won’t stop squeezing it untill after you get lagging data and it’s too late. 💩 Seems like they’re more political than they claim. Definitely trying to help Trump.🤣

Monetary inflation and deficit spending benefits anyone rich and is actively destroying the middle class, it’s a tax that is only taken from people that don’t hold assets. It would be really simple to fix what we’re doing here. Make monetization of the debt illegal, and only pay for things with taxes. They’ll never do it though, your life is going to continue to get hard.

@@tristan1505 Do you mean the blue and red dictatorship will never do that? As long as people sit on their hands and say that's just the way it is then that's the way it will be.
