Honestly so refreshing to see people with a realistically sized makeup collection. All these beauty vloggers with literal rooms full of makeup are just too much.

Dont worry about how old it is... if it doesnt smell & still performs well your good to go. I just recently started using my coastal scents palettes i purchase back in 2015 lol. Its still soft and extremely pigmented

Hahaha that’s definitely my go-to method.. unfortunately I’ve been noticing texture, pigmentation, and smell changes 😭🥲 hope yours still have lots of years left in them!

I really enjoyed watching this, your voice sounds super calming. And it's so refreshing to see someone use older makeup! Most of my things are years old, but they work perfectly well. I personally don't throw things away unless they smell, look or perform weird, just like you. It honestly takes me years to use anything up to begin with, and seeing these massive collections of makeup KZreadrs really turns me off. It's still perishable consumer goods at the end of the day, not something to collect. We only have the one face after all.

@@katrinastacie Those KZreadrs are what actually got me started liking makeup when I was 12 or something, I remember loving those collection videos and finding them slightly aspirational. 😅 Now I can't actually watch them anymore because they make me sad/angry at this normalized state of extreme overconsumption. Super glad I discovered minimalism and did a 180 before buying all of those things. And that I found your channel!

It's so important that we talk about minimalism looks like to different people. I remember feeling guilty that my hair routine wasn't minimal enough cuz it has 5 products total, but seeing your makeup collection reminded me minimalism looks different for everyone as long as we're being intentional 🖤🖤

@@katrinastacie That's awesome. Just checked out your other videos. I also left teaching (used to work in academia, the universities) for a lot of similar reasons, just left my job last month, as a matter of fact. With the way the world is at the moment, "education" needs to come in non-standard, non-conventional systems, imo. And this is coming from someone who is a full-time musician (I'm a professional pianist). Good luck moving forward, I'm sure you will land on your feet. And keep making videos too, you remind me of, like, an amalgamation of a lot of my musical friends! :)

I use stuff wayy past expiration. Eyeshadow can easily be sanitized. I used my living luminizer for 4 years before I ran out. It's my perfect highlighter. I had tf chocolate bar used that up in 4 years. I used to be very heavy handed but no more. My makeup now lasts me forever
