Mom guilt is real...but the best advise I ever got was....."if you are worried that you are a bad mom/failing mom/etc....then you are not BECAUSE bad moms don't even worry that they are bad moms. You are worrying, so you are safe!!!!!"

The cycle of backed up dishes is awful. My family is/was terrible at it. We wouldn't ask the kids to help. I wouldn't do them because of my depression. My husband was too busy with his full time job and then our busy evenings running kids to activities. They would not be rinsed, then pile in the sink, get stinky, take forever to rinse, and get into the dishwasher. No one would mess with the hand wash (nonstick pans, water bottles, etc) because the sink was already full of caked on dishes. We would just hit up the drive thru because the kitchen was too messy to use! We have really turned a corner on this habit this year and it makes the biggest difference in our lives. It is the number 1 way for me to cook at home more often, which is a big focus now that I am pre diabetic. It sounds so silly that getting into the habit of doing dishes every day can change your life, but it is true.

Two of my favorites together!!! Yay!! I'm one of those weird people who could go days without washing the dishes or picking up. I stumbled onto The Minimal Mom about 4 years ago and it completely changed my home. I started in my kitchen and went from cabinets stuffed with dishes to 10 plates/bowls (household of 8 + 2 for guests). GAME CHANGER!! We went from counters covered with dishes at all times, to creating a habit-ish of washing dishes 2-3 times a day. Minimalism (simple living) REALLY does work!!

Just stumbled on this channel. Thank you both for this collaboration. I no longer buy things I don’t need, with money I don’t have, to impress people I don’t like.

With today's comforters beds make themselves. If you and your husband get up at the same time say " honey help me make the bed real quick" Develop a habit. Your room looks and feels so much better. And at night more inviting. Everyone puts their dishes in the dishwasher. I would empty in the morning. One and done. In the days before microwaves you had to take meat out of the freezer everyday to cook for dinner. We all had dinner together and no TV. Pots and pans went in the sink of hot water while we ate. Pots washed everyone loaded the dishes. Kitchen clean in 5 minutes. Played outdoors tether ball or watched a little TV, bath for the boy. Then kids went to bed. If I didn't have a routine there would be twice as much to do after work. Enjoyed the video. Thanks you two.

LOVE THIS!! So funny how we all have our different pressure points. I cannot start my day without making my bed and getting dressed before I do anything else. I thank my mom for that. She raised us (6) to get up, make our beds, and get dressed before coming down for breakfast before school. It's as natural for me as brushing my teeth, so glad those habits were instilled in me.

I love when you too pair up! I am not your avatar as a 60 year old have a lot of whimsy like Christine, I love to cook for my family when they visit. I grew up very blessed from a material standpoint but we were frugal. Funny story, my dad bought a few cases of heinz ketchup because they were 99 cents each and they had coupons at the base commissary on them for $1.00 off. He was so proud they paid him a penny to get all that ketchup. We were all adults and he would load us up with ketchup in our suitcase to take home! I already was fairly minimal, but reduced clutter even more when I realized it was ok to throw away or donate stuff I hadn’t worn/used. Christine has taught me even more about saving on groceries. I’m a ninja at budgeting (accounting degree) and how to really cut utilities and gasoline. My parents were married “til death do us part” I could tell you so many stories of my dad and his frugal ways you would be laughing your butt off!😂 Christine I think you should come to Las Vegas and do a shopping video with me here! It’s not very far from St George!

I don't do dishes every day. Both my husband and I work and so we have 4 hours every night to do chores, make meals, help kids with homework, bedtime routine, plus maybe have a moment to relax after a long day. Dishes just aren't always a priority. Getting rid of inventory has helped even though we still keep multiple dishes, pots, pans, etc because cooking is also a form of hobby/ entertainment for us.

I can say doing the dishes daily was work for me. I grew up with a mom who showed me that housework wasn’t that vital. It was optional. So as an adult, I had to teach myself that chores are a must and they need done daily. I still get into the mindset I had as a kid that life goes on with messy dishes and I have to snap out of it and say yes there are messy dishes and I need to make time for them at some point before the day is done. It was nature vs nurture.

I do keep entertaining dishes for my southern home. I also have enough dishes so I can use my dishwasher. I am single and eat veggies, so only cook once in a while. It takes a week to fill the dishwasher. I don't feel guilty one bit. I enjoy my life. Love you two!!! 🥰🥰 I love Kimberly Wisk, too!

Dawn and Steph, from Secret Slob, have changed my life. Seriously. I was so overwhelmed and forced myself to make changes. They encouraged me so much- I just thought I was the only one who could never keep up on housework. My mom was good, my sister in-laws, friends… they all seemed to be able to stay on top of everything. Too much stuff! Such a key. While I still struggle, I can give up “things” more easily now. A manageable schedule is the next key (I’m one that never did dishes until there was none left). So very grateful to those two women for putting themselves out there. ❤❤

2 of my favorites 💙💙💙 thank you both so much for being so honest, positive & encouraging. It truly means the world. I don't do dishes daily, probably every other. Half of them make it into the dishwasher immediately lol. Reducing inventory and having more space to put things away has gone a long long way into relieving the dread of seeing the flat surfaces pile up. I feel way more capable as a person when I can manage my things. All our things are in storage right now as we truck drive all over the country, when we do buy a house again I will be only moving in the necessities and putting together a truly simple space. Then we can go through the rest of the storage space and see if we missed anything/keep for "Justin Case". I am so looking forward to the process 😁

I love this colab!!!! The mom guilt is so real!! Especially when you see other moms that are DOING IT!!! But I'm coming to the realization that things like meals, I'm going to have to make dinner every night, so I should make it easy. I feel like 2 weeks worth of meals, is more than enough variety.

Awesome video, love the ideas yall bounced off of each other. I want to give my personal thoughts about 'it has to be easier to put it away than to leave it out'... I get that because leaving it out isn't just the act of walking away from the items I set down, at some point I will come back for something else and have to move the first item out of the way, so it just became twice the work and if I have allowed that habit to creep in, there's a good chance that I will leave both this time.

This was awesome! I resisted watching the Minimal Mom a few years ago because I'm not a mom and when she did a collab. that included Frugal Fit Mom, I'm neither fit or a mom but I love watching you both and get so many ideas and inspiration. I'm 60 and you both teach me new things that I'm grateful for. I love to cook so Frugal Fit Mom fills that spot plus I love to be thrifty. Minimal Mom keeps me on track with regular decluttering and re-thinking what I really need. I agree about the advertising and remember decades ago when I stopped getting the Sunday paper because of all the ads that tempted me when I was paying down debt. Thanks, ladies!

I loved kids moving out. The adjustment was fine. Im the only purposefully tidy person in the family. I love it when the kids are here and their "mess." Grandkid messes are very fun actually. LOL

I like watching under the median and frugal money saver. And clean laundry can lay in a neat pile and I'll dig from it and use that laundry until I take a notion to hang it up

My favorite Dawn tool is a modified version of the Time will Tell box. I have a straw basket that i keep a garbage bag in. When i notice that something is annoying me, i drop it in the basket. When the bag is full, i take it to the donation center. I thought this was life changing because it lets you feel the control over when you're done with something.

Love both your different opinions…….it’s like the products NOW are sold through the good , better, best plus more moto. Today when we go shopping for any item the isle are sooo full of products for one purpose ie. shampoo for hair that it’s so tough to decide which product to buy. Do we buy the product that is the cheapest, or has the larger volume per price, do we buy the same one we have used over and over or maybe we should try something new, there are way, WAY to many options. It was soooo much easier way back when we had only one soap bar for ever thing. Life just 3 generations ago had less options, much less clothing, shoes and stuff, people lived, had Sundays OFF, when to Church believe in God more, spent time with each other, worked much harder and slept better. Thank you for the podcast.
