Minimal D&B: Mid Bass Growls in Serum [5 Steps]

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I show you simple steps on how to make mid bass growls found on many minimal neuro drum & bass tracks by artists such as Skeptical, Alix Perez, Enei and Break. The V-Shaped Mid Bass Growl was one of the first mid bass sounds I learned how to make. Back then I did it on the Virus B hardware synth. I show you how to make it in Serum as well as adding FX to make the growl come alive.

    @STRANJAH Great work dude! This is by far one of the most clear cut and eye-openingly widely applicable/translatable bass sound design videos I’ve ever seen, because basically changing the wavetable and playing with the rest of the same processing can basically lead you most of the way to almost any other/countless other pro sounding bass sounds, in terms of what makes up the bulk of the sound, generally speaking of course. Like this is format of bass design is incredibly flexible & I really appreciate it haha. If you take requests I would be curious what you would do on a video on making saw-growls with live’s vocoder and the triple OTT trick///or making basses out of plain sine waves and making it come to life all with post-synth wave shaping distortion + that vocoder & triple OTT and a few other stock effects inside a parallel process rack w/a empty chain so that the sine stays perfectly in tact with everything & it eliminates the headeach of trying to match up the sub’s pitch with any LFOs/pitch bending. Basically if you put the vocoder & other stuff before the triple OTT all sorts of magic can happen haha. Very interested to see if/how you digest this and approach this format of bass design!

    Bro I just found you from an article that was chastising you for sharing these secrets. Whoever wrote it was deeply resentful, like the worst gatekeeping byatch ever. This is prime content & you're the goat for sharing thank you. However I don't have serum is there any chance you could explain how to recreate with lpx stock plugins please?

  • @ASH-ou4cg
    @ASH-ou4cg4 жыл бұрын

    When using the Valhalla Vintage Verb, do you always leave everything stock, outside of mix and EQ knobs, or do you regularly tweak all in between knobs to? Everytime I see you use it in your videos, you just leave it as stock pretty much and was wondering if that is only because this is a quick video, or if that is how you routinely use that plugin?

  • @STRANJAH

    @STRANJAH

    Sometimes I tweak the ones in between, but to be honest the default values work quite nice. Unless the reverb is super key detail, I'm happy if it sounds good enough.

    Do you ever use Massive? Would you consider doing some massive vids. P.s really enjoying these videos man, learn’t a lot from them! Thanks for putting in the time.

    Thanks Freddie! I'll look into doing more Massive videos. Do you want videos for the old Massive or Massive X?
