Miniature Scrolls & Spell Books - Halloween paper/fabric Tutorial

Hi guys! Today we're making these miniature Spell Books & Scrolls ^^ We need magic for Halloween right? ;D You can customize these however you like by mixing up the color or what you decide to write in them. You can also use this book method to make any other type of book for your dolls; all you need to to is make a different cover :)
Good to know:
I work in 1:12 scale, but you can make them in any size you want and add headpins to make them charms :) I used a mix of the polymer clay brands Fimo and Cernit, but you can use any brand you like. The liquid clay I use is from the brand Fimo. My mold maker is from Siligum/Sili-put.

Love your techniques. The book making fascinates me, always has. Everyone uses different techniques and the outcome is always beautiful. When I do them, I use tea bags and water to stain the paper in different strengths and I cover the books with very thin leather from any old piece I find in yard sales, etc. I love your art form and the various scales you use. Thank you for sharing.

I always wanted a dolls house as a child but was never able to have one, until recently when I decided to build my own. Using your video on the mini house you built I copied the pattern only it's 1:12 scale. Thank you SL much

I am impressed. And FYO paperback books are made using almost exactly that method.
I always use coffee to make my paper look old.... Just use some crumpled paper, soak it a little bit, let dry over a rack and then add more coffee for more stains.

I think I'd rather use a very fine pointed calligraphy pen for the pages but very nice.

Same, I'm much better with a caligraphy pen.

How to make the paper???

Water down your acrylic paint until it's super thin (you can also use watercolors or even tea or diluted coffee). Use it and a soft paint brush to wash over the paper. It'll stain it and wrinkle it a bit, adding to the old look. Just play around with it until you get the color you want.

I have made different types of miniature books, but I have never tried your method. I thoroughly enjoyed your video! I'm going to try making a few miniature scrolls, like the ones you showed in this tutorial! They are wonderful! Thanks for your tutorial! ~Janet in Canada

I have been watching a lot of miniature crafting videos lately (for D&D purposes). The other crafters are talented and creative, but you are two or three levels above them. Nicely done!
