honestly the most amazing thing to me is cars / trucks driving on the roads - I remember years ago I soooo wanted to have a village with that ability and looked all over the internet and just found some sort of crazy chain pull type system of the cars (it was hidden) but the system was so LOUD - what you guys have come up with is just incredible in all aspects....I would love to do another video of the COMPLETED Wunderland (as of today anyway) is there such a link available?

D, they were allowed to built a glasbridge over a canal, (after all it is a UNESCO Worldheritage) and now you can visit 2 houses with each 3 floors of this wonder. At the moment they built the Southamerican Rainforest, the Atacama dessert, the Andes mountains with Machu Pichu as well as the waterfalls of Iguazu with real water. The wife and me have been there this year and had also a guided tour behind the scenes. AWSOME. There are so many "Eastereggs" in there, you would need more than a week to find them all, and I spend 5 days there, but always only for about 2 hours every day (it was a birthday present from my wife), otherwise you go loopy. We intend to revisit the Miniatur Wunderland in 2 years. Then Southamerica might be finished. I strongly recommend their channel for information. There even is a train ride with a camera train and you can turn the view. The video is around an hour long, but you can always take a break and come back to it later. Be safe over there in the US. Thereby the visitors don't repeatedly see the same trains when they look at a scenery for 10, 20 or 30 minutes, they have a lot more trains running than you can count on the surface. Underneath the model there are several huge "shadow staitions", where trains rest for minutes to an hour before they turn the next round on the model.

If you're ever in Hamburg, let me know and I'll show you! :-)

I wouldn't say it is an Alster canal, since the point at the Baumwall and Otto-Sill Bridges is usually seen at the river mouth of the Alster river into the Binnenhafen as part of the Elbe river. By that logic, the "Fleets" (canals in the Speicherstadt) have to be Elbe canals.

Well, these are not the only regions that have been built. They have already rented a second building opposite and spanned a pedestrian bridge across it in order to travel to other regions such as South America, Brazil, Africa and other countries and continents. There is also a railway running from one side to the other. There is also a VR room where you can walk around as a little character in Wonderland. The models are sometimes cleaned by the team every day before opening. Some regions are also rebuilt. For example, the model of Hamburg's Speicherstadt, which also contains the original, was recently rebuilt. You can even see a small model of Miniatur Wunderland in the building.

In the summer of 2000, Frederik Braun was on vacation in Zurich. There he came up with the idea for the largest model railway in the world in a model railway shop.[4] Back in Hamburg, Frederik conducted a nationwide survey via email about the popularity of real and fictional sights in the city.[5] A non-existent largest model railway in the world was voted third place by the male respondents. In 2001 he sold his discotheque Voilà and EDM Records and founded Miniatur Wunderland GmbH together with his father Jochen W. Braun, his twin brother Gerrit and Stephan Hertz.

I live in Hamburg and visited the Miniatur Wunderland - or MiWuLa for short - at least seven times over the last 10 years and there are still things in this video that are new to me. Fun Fact: The founders are two brothers. They put themselves into the scenery as two figures peeing from a bridge. 😅 Their model railroad shares a building with a history based indoor horror theme park - the Hamburg Dungeon - so they were pretty much restricted on two or three floors of that late 19th century warehouse building. After finishing Monaco - which has the Formula 1 racing track with a full on race with overtaking cars and everything - they ran out of space. So they rented a whole story in the building across the canal and had a glass bridge installed between them. In the new exhibition space they are currently building parts of South and Central America with a group of model builders from Argentina. And the bridge is not only for the visitors but there are trains running in the bottom of the bridge. Two separate buildings, three stories but it's still all one model railroad because all the tracks are connected. And every year in January the entrance is free for low income families.

So the Wunderlandians asked the comunity for help and they said yes we help and the Wunderland send the parts to them and they build them and send them back, as far as I know these are ower 7K of flowers!! They build Monaco at the time but they don't wanna open it without a Formel1 race there, the Model part is allraedy complet but they had problems with the racetrack, for over 2 yaers they don't find a platine builder who make the track, finerly they found one in a town near by me! Booking trains, find the couple of time slots where we could get in... (Always pre-book a visit, that's my advice) Also the owners of this whole thing are really great persons. A couple of times a year, they're having "I can't afford it" days. You walk in, say "I can't afford it" at the cashdesk and you can get in for free, no background checks, no further questions. If you don't want to say it, a written note is enough. They do no checks or questions because they say that everyone knows best himself if he can afford it or not.

One might think that the prosperity shown in miniature, the well-organized and clean cities in Miniatur Wunderland are flourishing to the same extent that the real cities in Europe and the USA are degenerating. The Miniatur Wunderland as a relaxing holiday in a better world. I can still remember the beginnings of MW. Back then, a good 20 years ago, it was much smaller and much less perfect. And yet it was already the holy grail of miniature railway enthusiasts back then. This installation more than deserves the high number of visitors and the high reputation worldwide. One of the must-see tourist attractions in Germany.

The founders, mechanics and builders invented all the programs and technology by theirselves and visited all the lands and places to get a clear image to make such detailed miniatures.

We visit the MiWuLa (Miniatur Wunderland) at least once a year to see all the new attractions... now the old building was getting too small, so the bought another building across the fleet and connected both buildings. Monaco and the French Provence are finished and South America shows how much they grew as builders in the time...

Miniaturwunderland in Hamburg is unattainable, very creative and on a huge scale... I am German, but I live in Switzerland near Schaffhausen at the Rhine Falls (the little Niagara Falls), where there is also a miniature museum, but with excerpts and motifs from Switzerland. You need two to three hours to see everything at your leisure. I've been there four times and always find things that I didn't notice the first time. Highly recommended. 😉😉

Being from Hamburg, if you ever go there. Plan for at least a day, better two days to go around all of that. All the small details they have shown here are partialy sometimes quite hidden. Last time I was there with my family we constantly went "Have you seen this?" "Have you noticed that?". The work they put into this is enormouse. Also its all hand or at least most of it. They have their own workshop where they build a lot of this stuff on their own.

Coming from Munich, Germany, I have been there three times until now, and every few years there is so much new. The details are so realistic because the owners always want to be as close to reality as possible. Two typical examples: In July 2012 I took the guided tour and when I saw the Thai Airways A380 in the airport I said "Oh you are ahead of your time" The guide: "Why??" "Well in real life Thai Airways will not have the A380 before November." "Oh", the guide replied, "I will not tell the bosses because they would take it out until then, and that would be a shame because it is so beautiful". There is a departures table in a little display and the destinations always fit to the airlines that are taking off. The Millenium Falcon has the destination "Tattooine". 3:01 That little gas station is connected to a computer that downloads the prices from the oil company's website every few hours so they are always correct. 8:27 This is not a hobby but a company making money with the entrance fee. That's where the money comes from. 12:50 Yes they always will keep making it bigger, they don't build to get it done but for the fun of building. And when the building gets too small they take the next and build a bridge.

It's incredible. You can stand at one spot for 1 or 2 minutes and just look at all details, then take 2 steps to the side and spend 1 or 2 minutes again with the new view that you have. And still you will miss details. The amount of details there is so much - I can tell you, it's really almost TOO much, when you are there. You will be so exhausted when you leave. So much to see. And they're adding more constantly. They just finished Patagonia, their new South America world. And they're working at a working F1 track, with actual F1 cars racing against each other on the track. I talked to them on a BTS tour - for the F1 cars, they contacted a Chinese manufacturer with their requirements. They took months, and in the end, that Chinese manufacturer said that they could not do it. They are using linear motor technology for accelerating these cars, the same technology that rollercoasters and particle accelerators use. But all miniaturized, which makes it pretty difficult, apparently. In short, they're very innovative and dreamers and visionaries, always pushing forward.

If you can, visit it yourself and plan a day to visit at it and check out the different regions. The new South America and Antarctica is impressive as well. Even as returning visitor: you always find something new. They have two restaurants/bars, also one serves American styled burgers. It's advisable to book your tickets online to have your slot. Especially in the summer time random visits can mean waiting times of 2h and more. Also they have on their website videos about current projects, what the people doing all day. It's German but English subtiles are provided by them.

3:47 Detail? The video is 5 years old. And the creators become more "crazy" every single day. In the last years opened some more parts and every new section is more detailed and realistic than any older one. And they are planning new sections even more detailed, realistic and full of extraordinary technique. When successfully developed, the F1 in Monaco will be outstanding. And I give the project a high percentage of success. But as usually in product development, you don´t know, when you have finished.
