Did you know Yamaha made mini NS-10's around the time the original NS-10M's were discontinued in 2001?
The Yamaha NS-10MM (and other variations, such as NS-10MMT, as shown here) was originally part of a home theater package released by Yamaha in the late 1990's/early 2000's. But why would Yamaha slap the "NS-10" model number on a speaker may only share a similar appearance?
I perform a pink noise test, and share some music samples between both speakers, and share my thoughts at the end.

I had those about 15 years ago and they sounded really great together with a sub.

Are you referring to the mini NS-10s?
definitely an intersting pair of speakers, they should do great on a small dj booths for sure!

Yeah! definitely. I would cross em over pretty high with a sub to be able to run them loud enough.

Have you in any way found 'em useful while mixing? Can they, say, do the job of Auratones? (if we ignore the filter crossover for a sec)

@@Tazmanian_Ninja I'm not really a mix engineer, and can't say how well they do the "auratone" thing but i think if someone learned them well enough they could certainly fill that role.

Got them last week for 30€, and bought an old Technics amp to go with it. They don't sound great, and there's nothing happening below 100Hz (with already some bass boost on the amp). But still I find they're quite revealing, especially about the harshness and lo-mid content of the mix. I mix mainly on A7X's and wanted little monitors for something similar to the "Auratone test" and I feel they're going to work great for that.
i would love to have these speakers to mix with! anyone know where to find them?

Hi Joey - check around on eBay - that's usually your best bet! Yamaha no longer manufactures this model.
They are super harsh probably leading you to mix with les high frequancy probably making mixes sound dull

I'd check out the frequency response chart I included in the video, I played pink noise through both pairs of monitors to compare.

Dang - anyway you can return them? They do really look similar! Only obviously more different with them right next to each other.
