mini SOLAR OVEN vacuum chamber insulation Cinefoil

Ғылым және технология

Small solar oven easy, mini camping and info on materials at greenpowerscience.com/solarov... or Amazon for each item. Raspy voice because of fighting outdoor noise all day and finally gave up resorting to the voiceover in my SUV at 1 AM when it was nice and quite….

    I shot the voiceover outside on camera 9 times with a good mic and between construction, neighborhood pets, airplanes, interstate traffic and trucks up and down the road, I did the voiceover at 1 AM in my SUV. So, talked out and voice was shot. Health is great and thank you for asking. BTW our area is about 65 dBA Decibel Level. Audio has always been a pain in the …… even when professional TV shows were at our location.

    I will need those mirrors and reflectors, because my goal is to be able to do this with -20 outside ;-). But I wonder: currently I live in a country that has no direct sunlight. There are always clouds, and light mostly comes from all over the place. For solar panels I went for panels that have a higher efficiency on diffused light. So polycrystalline instead of monocrystalline. It's not even directed at the 13:00 top sun performance. Because for those few days of the year it's performing top, I had to give up efficiency for the other days of the year, and especially in the morning (mine are directed at a 10 degree slope south east). But yeah, focusing diffused light. I need to search for that.

    It would probably need some help in the latter case. Take some kind of lightweight but durable foam (like black EVA), and make an inverted cone shape. Then glue aluminized mylar, or Solar reflecting film, on the inside. Make a vacuum insulated glass top for it. If not vaccum insulated, then at least double wall with some silicone in between the two pieces (leave a very small gap between the silicone seal between the panes for pressure to escape--otherwise it might burst). The combination of all that insulation and that concentrated Solar energy will cook it even in cold temps and less direct light.

  • @justinw1765

    @justinw1765

    Also, I recently read about some testing they did on Steven Jones's funnel design. Apparently less mirror reflective coating i.e. more dull, matte reflective stuff like aluminium foil, actually did better than mirrored reflective coating like aluminized mylar. They think it was because in this design, you don't want to concentrate the Solar energy to a small point, but rather disperse it over a larger area. Either way, consistently, the more dull and matte reflective coatings outperformed the mirrored type in cooking times and temps. (This was a bit of a surprise to me). You can find thinnish, flexible EVA foam with a dull, reflective coating already on it, in rolls for pretty reasonable. It's sold for floor underlayment insulation/cushioning. If going a route like that, since the material lacks stiffness, I would take some water based Minwax Polycrylic, put a thin coating and one layer of thin, lightweight, cheap fiberglass (like 1 oz/yd2 stuff) to the back to stiffen it up some and make it overall more durable and tough. Unlike epoxy (which is much more expensive, and more toxic to work with), the Minwax Polycrylic, while it (and the fiber glass combined), will stiff it up, it will still allow some flex and give. It adheres pretty well to EVA foam--as I've already done some tests. However, one might want to skip this route and keep it fully flexible, in order to be able to roll it up more easily. If you have some strong and small clips, you can clip it into place, or contact cement glue some velcro/hook and loop to it for that purpose.

    Could you immerse a giant 'insulating vacuumised double wall' container into seawater/sand/soil to, eg, boil water and release steam via a vertical pipe into a condensation chamber that would release water from condensed seawater steam into a giant water reservoir? If so, could the later release of the accumulated water in the reservoir be used to generate electricity via the driving of turbines by the falling water?

    Could you fill the vacuum between the glass layers with CO2/methane to stop infra-red escaping from the glass cylinder without stopping visible light entering it and then being absorbed to produce a heating effect? Alternatively, could you 'coat' the glass walls of the cylinder with an 'infra-red shield to contain more infra-red inside the tube without detrimentally impeding the entry of visible light into the cylinder in the first place? Couldn't this accelerate the heating of water inside the tube?

    Aluminum foil covering the entire floor under the carpet (eg, in the home) would 'reflect heat' into the room/s; covering the walls with, eg, pictures/paintings/posters with aluminum foil attached to the back of each of these wall coverings would further enhance this 'heat insulating effect', as might including more black furnishings/ornamentation/décor inside the room/s which would absorb more visible light from sunlight, eg, during the period before/during sunset and convert it to infra-red which would radiate into the room/s, thereby increasing the room temperature. Additionally, could, eg, covering the roof/outer walls of a house with a sturdy, weatherproof, retractable black 'roller blind-style' shield during winter also enhance the insulation of the home by absorbing visible sunlight during winter and converting it into warming infra-red which would then heat the walls/roof of the house for an added 'insulating effect'? Could covering the inner surfaces of a kitchen refrigerator/freezer not also enhance domestic energy efficiency - specifically relating to kitchen appliances - in the same way?

    Position two heat conduction insulating, double-glazed windows together in close proximity - but still separate - with a light absorbtive, black material layer and water between the two windows to solar heat water occupying space between two double-glazed windows instead of heating water inside a 'vacuumised, double outer wall tube/cylinder/s'; substitute the double glazing with a potentially vast surface area 'sandwich' of two adjacent but separate 'twin layers of bubble wrap' with a vacuum between the two layers of heat conduction insulating, air-filled plastic covering over (like a table cloth/pool cover/tennis courts cover) a potentially quite vast, shallow 'pool' of water in contact with a heat conduction insulating, underlying layer/surface (eg, a layer of horizontally-positioned, double glazed windows/a vast layer of concrete containing vacuumised 'holes'/'gaps', eg, by pouring concrete onto a vast layer of plastic covering over an area of wooden beams to create a set concrete layer on top of the beams and raised above the ground towards a downwards heat conduction effect) containing a light-absorbtive, black layer of material to solar heat water (not in direct contact with the bubble wrap plastic covering to avert any damage to the plastic should it not be sufficiently heat-resistant to withstand boiling water temperature) under a vast double layer surface covering made of two layers of bubble wrap with little/almost no air/gas between them.
