Mini Smokeless Firepit Made from Walmart Stock Pots

How I made a small smokeless (low smoke) firepit using two stainless steel stockpots I picked up at Walmart.
8 qt stockpot: www.walmart.co...
12 qt stockpot: www.walmart.co...
16 qt stockpot: www.walmart.co...
I used the 8 qt and 12 qt sizes, but you could use the same method using the 12 and 16 qt sizes.
Update - I've since purchased a Breeo firepit. It's much larger and of course better built than my DIY, but the smoke free performance is basically the same. So far, it's amazing! I may do a video review at some point. If you are looking to buy a Breeo, please use my referral link: rwrd.io/20r2thl?s for
$50 off when you spend $400 or more. For the referral, I earn $50 in Breeo credit. Thanks!

    Great idea! I went with a 16qt and a 12qt. Another difference is that Mainstay now uses glass lids so I had to buy a cookie sheet to make the ring that fits the smaller pot. I will also add feet to mine. Thanks for the idea. Costs: Stainless Pots and yes both are the same price. Wally World go figure. 12qt $19.98 16qt $19.98 Cookie sheet $9.00 Bolt and nuts $3 Total of $52.00

    Great info I’ve checked my local WallyWorld and currently they have no stock pots. I guess the Christmas season cleaned them all out

    I've noticed if you feed air through the bottom it ignites faster.

    Fyi you are supposed to fill the gasifier with wood first and light it from the top. This type of stove is meant to burn from the top down.

    Ha! You are soooo creative. Keep up the good works. miniature solo stove... now I can survive a power outage, gas shortage, and polar vortex! But how will Solo, Co. survive? LOL.

    I'm skipping the Solo and getting a Breeo. One thing this vid taught me is the thin gauge stainless is not good for Firepits.

    @@PubnicoExpat so what's better with Breeo vs Solo? what's your take? thin metal makes it easier to hauler around for camping, wouldn't it??? was thinking of copying yours to take for cup noodles/soups at fishing sites.

    @@JR-zw2vb I like the look of the Breeo and that it's heavy. I don't need it to be portable. My little diy fire pit is serving that purpose and is still good as new after many uses.

    @@JR-zw2vb I finally stepped up to the Breeo. It's everything they claim. It's HEAVY, smokes less than a regular firepit and looks good. The solo stoves are nice, but they seem kinda thin for me. Breeo now makes a more portable version that's lighter and better competes with the solo stoves. Check out the Breeo Y. Thanks for the video,... How hard was it to drill through the Chinese Stainless Steel ?

  • @PubnicoExpat

    @PubnicoExpat

    2 жыл бұрын

    It cost me a Chinese step bit sourced from Harbour Freight. The last few holes took quite a bit of effort. I'm sure there are better ways to bore holes in stainless.

    it's tuff stuff, but i center punched mine and started with a small bit & worked my way up. i don't have a step bit, that would have made it easier..👍👍

    How did you cut the lid into a ring without destroying it? It looks pretty thin in the end.

  • @PubnicoExpat

    @PubnicoExpat

    2 жыл бұрын

    The lid has a lip that adds some rigidity. I used sheet metal snips to cut the hole.

    Is the bolt really necessary?

  • @PubnicoExpat

    @PubnicoExpat

    Probably not, but it keeps the parts from separating when I carry it. It also applies a little tension to the lid which helps with the seal.
