Beautiful, You have inspired me to expand my horizons and branch out in the world of pen blanks.
I really like the look. I have hundreds of pine cones on my property consisting of blue spruce, cedar, arizona and deodar cedar trees. I thought about incorporating some pine needles with the cones. Thanks for the great video!
Love them! Can't wait to see you turn!
This is absolutely beautiful! I can only imagine how beautiful it will be as a pen.
Hi there casey ,I agree totally ,those are some of the best looking blanks I've seen for a long time. Best regards from Blighty .sd
They look great can't wait to see you turn one
Gee that's amazing i use resin by the bucket loads and have made some beautiful paper weights that light up with blue and white leds
Very eye catching...... Looking forward for video showing pen coming out of one.

Wow. Great idea and results.

Really cool looking blanks, these are on my list of to try.
The one on the left is outstanding
Those look great, I love pine cone pens. I would personally like to see you make pen blanks out of a variety of materials in resin you find. Like little sticks, banksia pods, maybe even try antler. You make great videos and thank you for the informative entertainment.

+Eli Hayes Thanks Eli! I will absolutely do that! I think it’s a ton of fun to do.
These are beautiful!
Absolutely beautiful. Do you prep the pinecones first?
Looks divine
They are serious gorgeous
Oh my goodness, coolest pen blanks ever.
I love this! And I’m proud of you for wearing PPE because so many other people I’ve watched didn’t wear gloves, mask, or anything. Not that I could afford one, but your pens must sell out quickly! Have you tried or could you make one out of birch? 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hey I've been trying to make alumilite pine cone blanks, and I've been running into issues with voids forming. Do you have any recommendations for eliminating these? Nice video BTW, they turned out good.
Those look Great! I'm going to be trying this soon any tips?
Very cool. Did you stabilize the pinecones first?
They look awesome
Totally impressed. Did you use pine cones without any stabilizing?
Beautiful blanks. Do you stabilize them first?
I love them great job.
I am not a turner but was wondering if you have thought about using peach pits and resin to make blanks
Was looking to make some knife scales with resin that has various pieces of objects from a persons past . For example , dog tags, leather from coat , bullet casing etc. Would be cool to see you casting multiple objects for knife scales and see how they turn out

I’ve seen that done many times! If I had a custom order I would do it, but since I don’t really make real knives myself, I’d probably only make the scales
BEAUTIFUL! Nice!
Did you stabilize the pinecones before casting them?
Really nice Casey. Let me know if you make another batch
They look great I just bought two out of three of them from your Etsy page just want to let you know I really like your videos and you make some awesome blanks

This is the most important question. They are beautiful, but if they aren't stabilized, won't they fall apart in a lathe?
Man those are wicked..do you sell pens like this already made? I don't have a lathe or know how to spin them lol but reallllllyyyyyy want a pen like this cheers.
Я посмотрел многие ролики , ну что я могу сказать Молодец 1000000000 ....... балов .Тебе пожму руку мастеру !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you stabilize them before you casted them?
Do you have to use a pressure pot to make these
Did you stabilize the pine cones?

Hi .. what measures do they have?
Casey, I know this is an older video but I’m catching up. My question is did you stabilize the pine cones before casting?
@CaseyMartin707

On these specific ones I did not. They were super hard and very dense, and so I figured they wouldn’t need it if I just dried them out completely. It worked well. I had no problem turning them either.

Casey Martin Thanks man. I’m inspired by your videos and I have been stabilizing and casting over here in canada for about a year. Don’t sell them just have a passion for the art. Your videos are so down to earth and straight forward. I will continue to be a fan and a follower. And I must try the pine cones in resin. Amazing brother. :)

Was the pine cones stabilized before casting with the resin?
@CaseyMartin707
6 жыл бұрын
+Bradley C They actually weren’t! I was contemplating it, but I only had enough for one batch of blanks so I didn’t think it was worth it. These were also super dense pine cones so I don’t think it’ll be too much of an issue
Any one know who i can send a brass tube to , to have a photo put on and or casted in alumilite or blak diamonds so i can turn it for a gift ?? i have posted before and surprised no response !!
what do you sale the Pen's for?
Before putting together with glue, the wood is stable yet
Hi, what do you do to get the blanks looking so polished?

Did you dry the pine cones before casting?
@CaseyMartin707
6 жыл бұрын
+Keith Schultz Yes they were dried for about a year actually because I forgot I had them!
Do you have to stabilize those combs
@CaseyMartin707
6 жыл бұрын
+Peter Goumans It would be better to than not to, however I didn’t with these. Main reason being that they were small and super dense, and I thought they’d hold up ok. If I come across a large amount of these again then I definitely will.
Awesome
Fairly new penturner here. Just acquiring equipment, supplies and knowledge to begin casting. Have stabilized I batch of wood. From

Steve Jackson Hey Steve! Welcome to the hobby and the channel! I didn’t stabilize the pine cones because I didn’t think it was worth it. They were pretty dense and hard so I thought they’d be ok, which they were!
I don't need sand tea. I'm in plastic, right?
