    Very nice. I really like my Mini Monitor. The logarithmic scale on these are quite nice.

    Cheers, I actually make use of the mini monitor quite a lot now after handling anything radioactive, I kept finding my fingernails were radioactive yesterday after washing them several times after handling some radium aircraft dials, so the thing's literally a life saver

    Alpha radiation can be shielded by a few millimeters of air or even a mere sheet of paper...some of you're sources are more than likely producing daughter decay products that emit beta and or gamma radiation. Very cool video man. I love watching your videos.

    Sadly there's not many at good prices, the soeks 01m is the only modern one I have and I would recommend it

    Look for Ludlum Geiger counters, in general the cost of radiation detection Equipment has skyrocketed due to the Fukushima Nuclear plant disaster. eBay Can be a good source for Geiger counters, but it is hit and miss. Avoid cheaply made units. The counter in this video was originally made in the UK, the company was sold to Thermo Scientific and the product is now made in the US.

    Sadly lots are very expensive, the only old Geiger counters I have is this one and the Polish DP66M

    How far away from your bedroom do you have to store these because won't the gamma particles just pass through the walls in your house?

    The gamma coming off this stuff is so weak it has no reading past a few inches

    So if you went to Chernobyl and just walked around would it be going off if it was just held in your hand cause of the air? I have no idea either about that stuff.
