    @@Localhost127 I'd imagine, depending on where on the mississippi river you are running it's gotta get pretty boring. What's the top speed of your boat with the 175hp Merc for Power? I run and build specifically the V6 Merc's, though I run surfacing propellers on lightweight go-fast boats, like the Hydrostream's, STV Mod-vp tunnel hulls, among a few others. I'm hoping to pickup a Laser LTV which was the predecessor to the STV hulls, 0 to 100+mph pinned to the seat.. Anyway, I'm close to 6 flags, and haven't run the Merrimac river- and I won't without a friend who grew up on it and knows it 100%. My main stomping grounds so far have been the Missouri River and the Mississippi River.. Maybe I'll see ya out there one of these days, I'll be sure to flag ya down. Cool video and boat!!

    They look fun but I got to say as a kayaker having these guys roll up on you around a bend going 30 miles an hour with 0 reaction or braking distance is not so fun. You hear that comin and you best just get out the way. And I also have to say I’m grouping these fellers with jet boats in general it’s only been fishing jet boats I’ve delt with floating in southern Missouri. These boats sure do look fun be safe and keep the respect!

  • @Localhost127

    @Localhost127

    3 жыл бұрын

    Totally agree with that, we try and stay as far away from the floaters as possible while maintaining plane (as the slower you go the larger the wake is) fortunately we can hit the brakes in these small boats if we need to by throwing the reverse lever. I’ve had to do that in a few of my videos. Thanks for giving your perspective on these, helps us see it from the other side :)

    Very cool video and capable boat. Question, why do the mini jet boats go with a V hull versus most other jet boats that use flat bottom or 5 degree bottoms? Is it due to the intake of the engine?

  • @Localhost127

    @Localhost127

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thank you! Reason for the 10-15* dead rise angles is these things need to be able to turn pretty well when on plane and in 4-6” of water. The flat bottoms certainly draft higher in the water, but can’t maneuver near as well. It’s basically just trying to find the right balance of maneuverability and planing depth.

    There are times where you’ll hit a log and come out of the water and out of your seat as well as when you hit a series of large waves that have you bouncing in the seat. So I still wanna pull the trigger.. But after seeing that damn near everyone builds theirs... Lol what do you think my chances are with absolutely NO mechanical experience?... Bro I get it but im willing to learn... Any advice? Was thinking about picking up a ski first so I can get the jist of the engine and system.

    Oh and another thing that I've been thinking about... Saw a few vids of people taking a couple of skis from Florida to the Bahamas... I mean this should be possible right? I kind of feel like thats a dumb question. Either way man NO vids on KZread about a mini jet boat making the trip (or of a mini jet boat in crystal blue waters).. Just a heads up... Just looking at your numbers and you might be able to monetize... Bro get payed to jet boat... Just throwing that out there man. 😉👉

    I’ve never really thought about monetizing as I wouldn’t be able to put my electronic tracks to the videos. I get more enjoyment out of just making these when I get free time :) You definitely could, the one thing you have to learn though is welding. Everything else is essentially just turning a wrench :)

    @@Localhost127 @Mike Heying man that's kind of the conclusion I came to lol (welding and turning a wrench). I want to learn how to weld anyway. But bro this is the thing that scares the shit out of me tho.. I know you say its just turning a wrench but mechanics are a niche/trade/etc.. Lol I know computers. Big difference! So its gonna be a lot to take in (To be frank I just emailed them about a turnkey!). Lol I am not opposed to learning (honestly if I could take like a week off and watch/help them build it... Lol like I'd be there from 8 to 5 or whatever everyday for free! to learn some shit lol!).... Oh so you said you got you hull from minijet. Did you go to Ontario to pick it up or... What was the deal on that? Honestly... shit I gotta passport, I WILL go across the border to get it if I have to!

    These generally arent design to be "super fast" hull's. They are made to go into really shallow water. This hull has a 12* deadrise with a delta pad. its damn near a flat bottom, but with handling characteristics of a vee. This one only runs 60. But is plenty. You'll see in some of my other videos where the hull design comes into play when running through 3-4'' of water.

    A jet ski would be fantastic if it could take the hits from various debris in the water. These are designed to be able to jump trees and beaches without hull rupture. 1 tree or rock hit in a fiberglass hull it would have been punctured.
