After spending my entire youth with dachshunds, one day I came out of the grocery store, heard a dog in a car across the parking lot bark, and said to myself with absolute certainty, “That’s a Doxie!” And, upon investigation, I discovered I was right. I hadn’t realized how distinctive a Doxie’s bark is. Also, you’ll find their little sneezes are not always about a bit of dust up the nose. They are just as often an expression of embarrassment or self-consciousness. Watch Mac, catch him doing something silly when he didn’t know you were watching, and you’ll see I’m right.

Yes we call that low huffing and puffing they do a floof with my daughters daxie. We often say he is floofing again lol! Over some little grumble that he has..it's mainly over nothing though. 😂

Leave it to Mac to voice his opinion on so many things. That bug one is priceless. Such a little honey❤

They will soon let you know what is making them cheesed off. With growls and floof sounds. My daughters daxie growls at the neighbours going inside their own house! Or anyone who parks right outside. He doesn't like it.

Extremely funny sausage. These are the sweetest dogs. The red short haired ones are the most hilarious. I had one almost identical to Mac - his name was Dino. He lived for 18 years. He left us in 2012 and I the emotional wound has not healed. Watch his back. It is horrible to see them lose mobility of rear legs - expensive operation. Thank you for the videos. I'm so glad that others have noticed the same sounds/behaviors in daschunds. We are currently loving our fifth doxie, and the mannerisms and vocalizations have been consistent over the years even though they are with different individuals.

I know, they snore, mine does too. Like a freight train❗ 😅🤣

I think I have a dachshund/retriever mix when I adopted her and her vocals are almost identical to this little guy.

That introductory sound where it progressed to an almost ultrasonic high pitch has been fascinating me lately, I have a dachshund-terrier mix and it makes these sounds after waking up. I'm extremely interested as you can see the behavior in dachshund breeds almost exclusively, if they do the sound in an enclosed space like a car it vibrates your eardrums with a very high pitched frequency. It's trippy.

They also yelp when chasing something they can't catch, it sounds like they are being killed but it's just frustrated vocalizing.

Oh so cute I'm so glad it's not so unique ! We're getting another little Doxie as a play mate and our is super vocal , grumbles when touched while he's trying to sleep 😅 yawns and makes a funny noise like he's speaking 😂barks at anything 😂oh my I love dachunds !

I used to tell friends " Oh, my dog Lil Man talks. A lot. Like, he'll sit in my lap and talk. So will Hershey. " ( Long haired girl. ) Hershey would sit down next to me and softly groan-whine and when I'd go " Tell me about your day. " She'd start opening and closing her mouth while softly whining as I pet her to make a " Row-row-ruuuu... " sound. Miss that dog. Still have Lil man. He's 18 and currently asleep in our bed. I say our because I'm young enough that dog had been with me over half my life, so I just consider everything I own shared with my little emotional support dog. He taught himself everything I needed him to know. If I would go " Hey dude, hush. " he'd stop barking at my parents when they barged into my room - unless I was asleep, then he'd adopt that defensive stance and " tell them to leave " by growling at them in a manner that was clearly like " I don't wanna bite you. Leave my dad alone. " when they came to wake me up for school every weekday morning. When I would inevitably wake up to this I would reach over and gently put an arm around him, prompting the growling to IMMEDIATELY stop and instead he would begin softly whining, turn and lick my face like " Oh sorry I woke you up Dad " and try to lay his head back down on my arm. ( He sleeps with his back pressed to my chest, his head resting on my bicep. ) That dog trained himself to use potty pads, to walk " on a leash " to the point I could just tie a leash to my belt, or drop the leash and he would just stand there looking at me like " where we going? " and when we would be on family trips in the winter, he immediately understood the assignment when I crouched down in front of him and opened the bottom of my hoodie. Jumped up inside, wormed his way up to the hood portion and poked his head out underneath my chin and we'd just walk around like that. So many people in Galveston got a kick out of it and I'd regularly hear " Nothing like a boy and his dog. " That dog... so well self trained and observant that he knew the concept of elevators, sliding doors and making it outside to potty when I was being treated for Leukemia. I was having anxiety attacks being away from him and begged my parents to bring my dog to me, because " If I die, I'd rather him be here with me and know his daddy didn't abandon him. His dad did everything he could to stay for him. " - so they relented and brought my dog to the hospital. Overnight Lil Man became the unofficial mascot of the children's hospital I was being treated at. ( Got Leukemia at 18, was skinny and athletic enough that doctors believed I could still be treated as pediatric rather than adult. Prolly saved my life considering how advanced the Acute Lymphatic Leukemia had gotten. ) - that dog... if he was not laying in the hospital bed snuggled into my arm and being wary of the IVs sticking out of me haphazardly, he was either up in my face pushing his little furry head up against my emaciated cheek / really carefully kissing my cheek, or he was sprawled out right next to my hip, occasionally doing his soft little whine-talk. Doctors and nurses got so used to him that they'd come into the room, look at Lil Man and go " Can I have permission to touch your dad a moment? It'll only be a second. " They'd get given the sniff test by Lil Man, THEN work on administering medication like morphine and the like. Lil Man became affectionately known as " Grumpy Old Man " by the staff and they loved the whole dynamic we had going so much that when Christmas rolled around, the nurses that personally worked on me got me a gift basket and mixed in with little candies they knew I liked, they got Lil Man some soft dog treats and the both of us a giant dachshund plushie. Dachshunds have done nothing but improve my life. They're the most stalwart companions you'll ever have and I've never had an overtly hostile dachshund, They're loyal to a fault to the point they will neglect food and water if they don't know where their master is. Poor Lil Man tried to.. self terminate when separated from me during the first week of being treated for Leukemia. That was part of the reason they finally relented and brought him to the hospital. He began refusing water after day 4 and had no food since day 3. By day 7 he was sickly, but when my mom said " Wanna go to your daddy? " He apparently " came alive " and began running around while making little excited yips according to her. To this day he and I can't be apart from one another without a sense of dread and nausea. Love my little baby boy.

YES! As everyone else is saying, it's so true. My current young guy does what I call a "scream yawn" when he wakes up in the morning. It's cute, but if you didn't know better, you might think someone just hurt him! LOL.
