But wasn't all this available in the first one?. Now it's the weapons NERFing (just like in the first one). A Glider.. it's in the first one, too (Albeit) A bit of a rougher glider... Gates and doors, yep! same as in the first. Next, boats! You may get a sneaky "outboard motor" left behind by killing that big "cannibal" instead of it exploding, when the next update arrives. You'll see.😉 Sorry, but the Devs are just doing their own thing. Completing this game as they go along. If they're listening, where's my Jetpack? Or Golf cart with Log trailer??? It's a good idea, and I did ask politely..😉👍👍

I heard a theory somewhere that they had already a bunch of these features prepared to launch but purposely decided not to implement them on the 1st release. This way they gain more time to work on other stuff and keep the community happy

@@spacelevi This is partly true; I know for a lot of the equipment and the gates specifically were just still being bug fixed to actually work properly. Endnight also stated just like for The Forest, they released it in such a state because they wanted to work with their playerbase to flush out the game. Like, in The Forest we wouldn't have had bows at all if the playerbase hadn't spoken out so much for one. The stick lock for doors I think is the first major one for the SoTF that we've seen from our suggestions.

very happy to see a dev team that actually listens and cares. they literally fixed almost every single issue the community reported. but the game still has long ways to go. it really does need more content, but serious props to the dev team !

Lets be real in this day and age no matter how much content a game has it never seems to be enough...I think variety is good but I also think forest does certain things that other survival games don't and bring a lot of fun ideas to a survival game that aren't always so realistic...the sled for example, glider, zip line, last game the turtle shell slide, traps...for me those things in a survival setting with friends brings hours of fun and laughs. More addictions like that outside of the box ideas to say is what i would like and is what this dev team seems to be good at.

@@thataccount1 They really aren't. They lied about the release of the game rather than delaying it again because they knew they would get a lot of backlash for it. Instead they hid behind the guise of 'Early-Access' aka "let me release my unfinished game for full price and slowly drip feed updates until enough players have dropped the game"

For me it's something I'll never use considering I have big defensive wall around my base, and whenever I'm actaully inside my house I'm there for 10 seconds tops to save or just store something.

​@@ZIMsar10 There's a setting to disable structure damage, and considering how clunky the system is I personally prefer to have it on even though I like challenges (playing on hard)

of All the videos i watched on the SoF-Patch-01, this is the ONLY video that actually has the real video about the items and real in-game footage! Thanks a lot Broadbent! I really appreciate the quality of your videos

As always! Broadbent has always showed footage in his update videos, even back in the old Forest. It's common for others to just show patch notes, but that doesn't cut it!

I love that they really listen to their players, it makes the game so much better

i wish it was a wing suit or something instead of the hang glider. it’s super inconvenient to carry it around, not to mention you literally cannot climb the mountain with it because your character drops it every two seconds. also the gps is completely broken while flying.

What a great FIRST update. they're setting the bar high to begin with. cant wait to see what comes next!

@Broadbent FYI you can just use 2 logs, the peices that come off can be recycled and will fill the rest of the triangle, which makes roofing so very much better. Love the content you make btw, and I loved the stream from last night, keeps my bad nights from feeling too gloomy and it made my night.

Wish you could pick up any furniture you find around the map. Suit cases, bunker stuff, anything that can be carried out and brought back to base for decoration.

The door building depends on the first plank you place i.e. left or right NOT 'inside or out'

with how this update played out, i'm really excited for the next one

this is SOOOOOO good am really happy they did the gate door in the first update

If they're going to make the cannibals and such stronger and weapons weaker, they need to decrease the amount of them that raid your base and the frequency of them raiding the base.

I think the range is also a bit short for the stone arrow. For a item that is needed to have it's a bit on the weak end.

I look at it as more of a *survival* game, with horror elements sprinkled in.

I just speedrun the caves. You can run past most of the enemies and get out with the equiptment you want. I enjoy the above ground base building and survival aspect a lot more.

They really need to fix the flares and lighting in caves

One thing i want if it didn’t get add is when you have a blue print just like in the forest when you die or leave the area you can still see it on the map where you in progress build is at because i died one time while building a house and now i dont know where it is and i am stuck on the bottom left corner with the material needed to build the house

There seems to be a new bug with virginia, ive been playing for 3-4 hours since the new update and every 5-10 mins or so she loses her GPS tracker and it gets returned to my bag, it doesnt get consumed though, very strange

this happens with weapons. I give her my weapons and after a while it appears in my inventory again although Virgina is miles away from me. Eventually I get to her and realize she doesn't have a weapon anymore

@@spacelevi you can fix it by doing this: 1. Give her your gun 2. Save your game. 3. Close your game entirely 4. Run it back. 4. Load your game And your Virginia returning gun issue is solved

I am still waiting for Endnight to put the "Build Wall" mechanic from The Forest because while I do love Sons of the Forest building mechanic, building walls is incredibly tedious because I can't properly plan out my walls like in the first game. I mean the game already have ghosts buildings for the prepabs so why not walls Just let me lay out the ghost walls first Endnight please Still love the game though

They might have wanted you to make less of them I'm assuming with how a little advanced this game is. We might just get stone walls in the future Large defensive walls don't even stop cannibals, they will spawn inside your base or phase through the walls

I hope that the issue of putting down logs get fixed.. I have fallen through the mountain almost 30 times doing a tiny structure - fustrating.

What I've never seen anyone mention that you can actually see the pufftons jump out the window while they are still human, even before this patch. Happens very fast when you get close to the window but I was wondering what that was about before they added this fight

I kind of miss entering a cave and submerging from an underwater section to be blocked by 50 creepers and shit. Its fun because you can just slowly bait them to chase you into the water, where they subsequently drown.

I was talking like few days ago to a friend, how awesome binoculars would be because we wanted to observe cannibals without disturbing them and see how they do. Now we can! :D

If you put your door while looking at the left side it will be inside infront of you but on the right side it will be the outside

@Broadbent I really enjoy your Vids mate, keep up the wonderful work with the Vids that you make. I have a question. Whilst it's nice to have a Gate on Defensive Walls, can it also be "Locked" like the Cabin Door? If not, then it's pointless, as the enemies will walk straight through it ....

Can't be 100% sure rn (I'm in bed) but no, I don't think you can add a lock to the gate. Pretty sure there's no need. Yes they can destroy the walls 🙂

@@ZIMsar10 It's not like a regular door. You don't open it by walking into it, you open and close it by pressing it. There's no reason for a lock to be added. And yes, enemies can destroy defensive walls.

This is an amazing update. Although I am sad about the bug fix for log summoning lmao

You can now avoid sleep and run through the story though. Just carry a chair with you when you run across the map and it refills your sleep stat. But you have to know where you're going because you have nothing out when you grab a chair

Hopefully we can get some of the traps from the first in SOTF like the dead fall trap and birthday trap. But nonetheless, Im loving whats in this update. And with the new building feature for the triangle spaces, you're not finished with your tower just yet 😂😂😂

I dont think we're gonna get the Birthday Trap (because the Fly Swatter trap is just a smaller version. But maybe they'd make the birthday trap more powerful to compensate the cost.) But the Deadfall trap would be amazing.

Wish there was a reticle option for the bow like there is for throwing a stone or a spear

Maybe for doors orientation, testing that in a new save.

The Kelvin cutting down trees with structures on it is still an issue post patch. I sent him to gather logs and fill my holders, and the first tree he went to chop was my tree house.

not the jumping logs...... Putting logs in the water and watching them jump was really funny to watch.

I'm so glad they prioritized things that werent hurting anything and were also actually fun but not addressing stuff like the radio being 9000000 decibles or it locking up your pc whenever you pull it out and such.

4:51 I had a treehouse and kelvin still cut the tree down when I told him to fetch logs 😐 I saw that in the patch notes so am I just really unlucky or does kelvin still do it

It’s still buggy on old structures build pre-update. New structures are safe.

It's a great update. But, I also wish to get more wildlife and increasing some of the animal speed. And also just like Virginia we could able to give weapons to Kelvin. Some weapons upgrade would be more good just like the forest, but there are no teeth to the enemies so upgrading weapons in some other ways.

How would Kelvin use weapons when his hearing is gone and he suffers from a concussion? It seems understandable that you can't and shouldn't give him weapons.

Kelvin has brain damage no? He shouldn't be able to use firearms but maybe you should be able to give him basic weaponry like a spear or a bow, could make it so you can give him tools or make him fish faster if he has the spear etc. Virginia is really strong rn so I don't think we need another battle companion

@@gnpresents7654 Because he still has his eyes, he can only see things directly in front of him (unless it's a bug). Brain damage probably doesn't affect your eyes much idk I'm not a Doctor

Is Virginia now tameable in multilayer sessions?

I had like maybe more than 15 twins on the grapple gun cave when I fell off to the last part of the cave.
