@@user-xi3fp7je8s yeah, dude's PC (more specifically GPU) kept running into the 80/90s degrees celsius regardless of what he had running. admittedly it was passively cooled, but that wasn't a problem ever since he got it, up until some random moment. when we decided to look into it, we thought his GPU is at fault, so we plugged it into a different PC, and it behaved normally. Then, i wanted to install some monitoring software and opened the browser, i saw he wasn't running any kind of adblock and installed it. went onto youtube, and it kept showing some crypto miner advertisement, followed by no video (regardless of video that we opened - this clearly wasn't youtube's ads being shown). re installed his system (he had nothing important, so we didn't have to back up anything) and that fixed it, no ads on youtube and no searing hot GPU problems. while we didn't 100% definitely confirm that it was a miner, the PC's behavior is good enough evidence imo. Note that he's not the pc illiterate type of person to fall for the "free iphone" or "download more RAM" type of deal, meaning he wouldn't download sketchy stuff, and on a lot of websites there are possibilities that your PC can get attacked through ads. so yeah, hooray for ublock origin.

If you consider free to air TV you have only a on/off choice over commercials/adverts. The point is they actually do work as intended. Advertising overall sells the product. It's why Super Bowl pricing for commercials is outrageous. Think back over your life at a supermarket or a store - there is no one I know who honestly after cpnsideration hasn't admitted they did buy something bc of a TV/Newspaper advert. It's a shotgun cartridge of pellets. They only need to hit a very small percentage for it to work. And work it does.

Thank you. The only part where we disagree is, that in my view the skill ref....is partly intended to introduce subs. Not skill tree wise, but by shafting how the game is played. Subs don't have a role and don't fit in the rock, paper scissor principle Subs don't have the speed to zip around the map, therefore they have to spawn close to the ... capture points. So by shafting secondaries and introducing "deadyee", they tried to ensure that the BaBBies will not go there, because then they will become food for them. So.....they actively try to f the game (again) to introduce a class (again) which had a protracted development (again), which otherwise don't fit in the game (again). WeeGee at his finest ( again).

Just one addition. You said that Overlord was bigger than Sicily. That is true, but the invasion fleet leaving for the Marianas in the Pacific ( also on June 6 1944, I believe ) was also bigger. That would make Sicily the third largest. Still impressive that the Allies/ Americans were able to do two landing operations at the same time on different ends of the world.

Clearly they wanted people to invest time and money at the start and then be forced to spend even more money at the end or see all the investment lost. The issue is not the monetization it self, but the way they lied about how it would work.

Creative and marketting departments don't seem to work together. So when one takes a decision that is overridden by the other, it takes two or three months to correct the mistake (to the condition the second accepts the changes), so that way of making a game inevitably turns it into an administrative dinosaur... I'm ready to bet that Flamu being kicked out last week was due to a change of management in some marketting/CC department, that new person wanted to be the zealot to solve a problem, he or she (may be a she let's face it...) saw Flamu's rage and decided "Oh, come on, you say he has been a pain in the ass for five years? That guy will likely make us lose money, let's kick him out, whatever the reason used". Administration dinosaurs are no stranger to that tactic, particularly in HR department... One manager lets things lose, the next says stop and acts like a douche to "solve a problem". Of course here, Flamu still being able to play and stream the game won't shut up. They pulled a Darth Vader killing Obi Wan here. 'If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine". If they really wanted to shut him up for good; they should have banned him from the game for good, but of course, he never really crossed that line and it would have been very difficukt if not impossible to justify banning him from the game altogether. So they opted for the only options they had, kick him off the CC program. But I wonder why Flamu stayed there as long as he did instead of quitting himself. Oh, yeah, he wanted to sneak peak into new info about the game for his audience, because that guy doesn't have a real job and lives out of idiots paying him on the internet... Yeah. Although WG acted like hypocrits, I can't say I'm feeling dramatic about him getting kicked out, it was about time.

Oh come on Jingles, most of us do have problems of our own, but we're interested in how you're doing, including problems that you're willing to share with us. I myself lost all of my savings because I I decided to start my own business in the tourism industry basicaly at the moment when some chineese first coughed over some fried bat. Some time later I learned that my girlfriend has someone on the side and here I am- 40 years old and pretty much at square one plus a cat. To be honest, I'm not even upset about it all, I always appreciated beautiful disasters and besides I could luckily get back to my old job at a mountain shelter in the most remote part of Poland (Bieszczady mountains), I'm mentioning all this to make a point- sure, we all have our problems, but apart from the fact that we care about how you're doing, it's always easier to listen about someone else's problems rather than dwelling on our own :)

Part of the problem with the Airborne losses in Sicily was the Allied Naval forces shot at the aircraft carrying the Allied Paratroopers hitting many of the Aircraft. at least according to the men of my Dad Regiment who were Paratroops for that operation. That and they were scattered all over the place jumping at all kinds of altitudes with not optimum winds and landed right on top of a German unit with a lot more men. because the Allied Paratroopers were scattered and did not land anywhere close to where the whole Regiment was suppose to land. The Regiment had similar problem about being scattered and not being dropped on their drop zones when they jump in Operation Dragoon in Southern France

I remember watching part of a Flamu stream replay a couple of years ago, and he sure didn't _look_ very happy playing-- I was thinking to myself, "if he looks kinda miserable playing the game, why doesn't he find something he'd actually enjoy?" He reminded me of a well-trained French chef who is absolutely miserable in the kitchen partly because he can't understand why his sous chefs aren't as good as him. If he's feeling better now that he's no longer a CC, that's cool. "I don't condone losing your shit in chat, it doesn't make anyone other than yourself feel better..." I would argue that's actually debatable. I don't think I've _ever_ felt better during or after losing my cool (one thing I've learned in 42+ years of not dying is that adrenaline surges are not kind to me), so I endeavor to not put myself in a situation where I would lose my cool, and when I play multiplayer, I try to have as much fun as possible even if I lose. If one _does_ feel better behaving like a pissed-off Linus Torvalds in chat over a game, especially to new players, I wouldn't think very highly of him, even if he has a record number of wins in the game (it's kind of similar to my contempt for most billionaire CEOs). I've seen hundreds of so-called "free to play" (AKA "freemium", AKA "pay to win") games, because that crap started on Facebook and tried to infect social networks at first. When that went nowhere, that business model went right to smartphone games, and nearly all of them are worthless. The only such games I play are those I have a decent chance of enjoying without opening my wallet (and if it's one that tickles my otaku fanboy itch-- Dissidia and Record Keeper, I'm looking at you-- I might pay a little). While there are outliers like the "so big we spam ads everywhere" Raid, the vast majority of these games fail, even with massively popular IP attached to them, because they are so low budget, because you can see them sticking their hands in your pocket the way they force you into an unwinnable situation, and because sooner or later they will run out of good content.

I did not even know Flamu before this incident, it actually gave publicity to the guy, therefore a bigger voice.. and i would like to add that having a game being frustrating is making people spend on it. So the only counsel is : do not give money to them when your suck, give them money when you perform well, it will move their algorythm to make you a better player because it associates your success and money incomes. If the algorythm sees the opposite, well it isn't given any reason to make the game less frustrating.

One thing is what people read from a construction of numbers, another is how they choose to understand and react to what they read. I didn't play for tanks or stats, when I started playing World of tanks, I would only play the game for the social aspect and be good enough to join along, with those who got me to the game. Later, I wanted to be good enough for statshamers to simply just shut up and leave me alone. I would like to know and see what player of any game who is absolutely 100% flawless, every time. WG is doing well, and even with the negative consequences impact on money-stream is just not apparent enough. However, I wouldn't be surprised if WG needs to take extra 'steps' to keep profit growing to keep reaching the KPI targets set from them. The Pandemic muddles the data, but also the last couple of years there are so many premiums that are actually too 'good to ignore', Crate mechanics that entice you to spend just a little bit more money than you reasonably would like to, etc. But even so, this just means the WG game developers get tasked to provide new mechanism to squeeze out a little bit more money. To have a company really change their perspective, deviate from set target plan, is extremely rare. WG is far from being in such a shitstorm that they feel the need to do anything than make small course corrections.
