Those pyrites were exceptional. Pyrites are my favorite minerals. I cried as I watched the pyrites exposed in the matrix. What an awesome episode. Thank you for sharing this.

I have one of these Spanish pyrite specimens, just a small one but those small perfect cubes still get me! I never get over how mind blowing it is that nature can create such a perfect shape. And then for them to have kept their shape in pristine condition through the millions and millions of years is just insane! Thanks for a great episode!

It's even better when you realise that the owner of mine doesn't wants these to be used in manufacturing processes as the mineral is too perfect for it.

I have a piece that is only about one inch thick and about 5inches by 4inches wide,I don't know where it originated from but one side has small cubes, but on the opposite side, the matrix is dark, bright blue Lapis Lozuli, with the growth of the Pyrite showing as Gold veins, and that side is highly polished. The other Pyrite of note I have is a cluster of the largest Pyrite Dodecahedrons I have ever seen. ❤

As a teenager.. I was given a small pyrite crystal to give me super power.. just kidding 😅😂🤣. But seriously, the man told me that the pyrite would protect me.. At that time, I didn't even know the identity of the small shiny "fool's gold" rock that I got.. only that it was really kinda shiny for a small rock 🪨😄

So similar to galena but galena is so brittle and clustered that it rarely occurs in perfect cubes
