Immersive portals build idea: Build a starship. Inside the window of the cockpit, build a portal that faces the sky. Change the time to night and activate rain. It will look as if you’re in warp drive like star wars or star trek. (Also, make use of the command sticks to move the portal in its correct position if necessary.) I would really appreciate it if you would make this and post the video of it on your channel.

Fun fact: The original title was just csx bragging about their new two-floor house irl.

csx, the reason the portals were not loading is because the first time you make a portal in a new world, it has to download all the assets and properties. Once the game has recognized that this is a change of position, the portal calibrates and loads. I would recommend that the next time you want to make a video similar to this one, use the same superflat world. If you unload the chunks that the portals are in, however, there is a possibility that you may need to wait for the calibration once more. Hope this helps!

@@csx42 Interesting. I am not sure why this is, but in most cases chunks need to be loaded twice. The way the mod works is that it replicates your view of the chunks, and when you move through a portal, you are using the /tp command, essentially. I did not make the mod, so I do not know the full inner workings, but I can confidently say from my experience in this industry, that the chunk loading is probably a bug fix or safe measure to make sure the portals do not completely bug out. I once again hope this helps and makes sense, and I may or may not be correct on this statement. Either way, I hope this message comes back to you and helps you in your further videos. I am so glad that someone has the time to do these kinds of experiments, and for the people who are too busy with work and kids, I and others surely appreciate what you are doing here! Love, 5eltzer

The chunk loading is the loading of the portal to make sure it wont break your game and lag. So it was not a bad thing it was for your portal to load.

Build suggestion: a train where you can go backward through all the train cars, but when you go towards the front it jumps you to the engine.

I’m pretty sure that if you overlapped two portals in the same place with one flipped opposite to the other, it makes a mirror you can walk through. There’s a command to make a mirror but you can’t walk through. This means that you didn’t need to make a whole other house and it would be really simple.

If your still wondering what the loading thing was, basically if you set the portal render limit above 200 it will search for the portal within the limit you set. So basically if I set it to 500 it will "load chunks" to find a portal in that range.

I wish more people used these portals like you did

@@nikkiofthevalley euclidean refers to curvature, paper is the most obvious example, but the surface of a cyclindrical can or even a donut also has a Euclidean surface. If you can perfectly cut and wrap paper around it then it's euclidean. Euclidean space has 0 curvature and is also referred to as "flat". Some speculate the universe is "flat" although some believe it to be spherical (think a 3D surface of a 4D object) Spherical is stuff like balls, where the surface is obviously curved, even if you tried wrapping it with paper, it would still look awkward no matter how hard you tried. Spherical is positive curvature and one obvious example is the surface of the earth. Hyperbolic is hard to explain but it's kind of the opposite of a sphere. It has negative curvature. (look it up if you are still confused bc I can't really describe it, the closest thing I can think of is like a horse saddle)

@@megarotom1590 Arguably it's not euclidean, while predominantly flat there are localized areas of very high curvature, the portal. It's not smoothly spheric or hyperbolic, but certainly isn't euclidean either. Imagine a cube, where space is the surface of the cube. The vast majority of it is "flat" but the space in total is of positive curvature.

@@KaosFireMaker I don't think so. I don't know for sure yet with cubes, but I do know cylinders are flat and often these things can be seen as surfaces to 4th dimensional cylinder type objects

@@megarotom1590 a cylinder is spacially flat only if it lacks end caps, the cylinder used as an example in most papers as an example is infinitely long, and has no end caps. A regular physical cylinder that you can hold that has end caps has positive curvature, because its surface can be reshaped into sphere. There is also an important difference between a space's curvature in its entirety, and it's curvature at particular points. For example, our universe as a whole is very close to flat. The space next to a blackhole, still within our universe, is very much not flat

so when the portal thing was loading chunks this always happens or at least it always happens to me. What's happening is when you load a new world it wants to get the right amount of chunks to load for every portal and its kind of like a test to make sure the mod is going to work for every portal that you make in the world. That's my explanation for it.

This is really cool, and yeah i finaly installed the immersive portals and pehui mod on my java server, but becuase without server my mc chrases i think it wont work that well but yeah idk

in the config files, you can change the chunk load radius having it set really high can take forever the chunk loading is for long-distance portal connections

You could build the second house underground or up at build height. Underground doesn't need portals to hide it and it can work in any world

There is an easier way to hide things with portals! All you have to do is create an either inward or outward portal. (I can’t remember which) one of the makes it so that you either cannot escape it when you enter or you cannot escape at all.
