Did you see how much damage his armor reduced from that diamond axe. Absolutely gave him an edge at the start of the vid. You can argue it fell off at the end but only because the hunter worked much harder than the runner to get all diamond. Even then it was still only slightly worse

I love how you won that battle,not through superior armor or weapons, but through psychological warfare; making your enemy belive they've already lost, thus going on the defensive and retreating when they could have easily destroyed you had they been on the offensive. Some Sun Tzu level stuff right there.

He may have removed *some advantages, but the armor still did a bunch, probably because of the prot 4, and the sharp 5 did a bunch of damage even if the netherite didn't have any attack value, like the god apple still worked as a steak effectively because you see the hunger bars go up

everytime kier goes silent and watches dev just do something surprising just gets me all the time

I feel like this would've been a lot more scary for dev if they only enchanted the armor with mending / a useless protection effect (proj, blast, something to that effect), because enchantments still effect you even on armor that has no protection. Giving it the enchant glint would have still made kier think he had prot 4 or something, given that's usually how the op loot tables work in these videos. Still funny regardless

Well, im a bedrock player so I’m not completely sure how combat works on java, but sharp 5 would be + 5 dmg points, and then an additional 1 point because of the fist. So really that’s 6 dmg points or 3 hearts. Add crit damage and you get about 7 points of damage or 3 and a half hearts

16:51 This twist was actually pretty op. Dev's armor was super strong and resisted a ton of damage. It is worth noting that Kier's diamond armor was still better than dev's fake armor though, but only slightly. Dev did not beat Kier with no armor, he beat kier with very marginally weaker armor than kier had. No need to be ashamed, Kier, it was a relatively equal fight. My math is below and I got my info from the minecraft wiki if you are wondering. The protection provided by the protection enchantment is represented by this fraction: x/25, where x is the amount of points the armor contributes towards the Enchantment Protection Factor (EPF). The protection enchant increases those points by 1 per level on a piece of armor, so a full suit of prot 1 armor provides a 16% damage reduction. (4/25). This means a full suit of prot 4 armor provides a 64% damage reduction (16/25), which is exactly how much Dev resists in the video during the fight at 16:51. More math to prove this: A diamond axe does 9 damage (4.5 hearts) by default. at 16:51 in the video dev is hit by kier's axe and takes only 3 damage (1.5 hearts) which is a 67% damage reduction, which, accounting for rounding, is exactly what is provided by the protection enchant (9*0.64 = 5.76, round that to 6 and boom, 6 damage or 3 hearts of damage are resisted.) Lets take a look at Kier's armor now. Armor protection is represented by this overly complex equation: ( 1 - min( 20, max( defensePoints / 5, defensePoints - damage / ( toughness / 4 + 2 ) ) ) / 25 ) When you plug in the numbers for diamond armor (min = 16%, max = 80%, defensepoints = 20, toughness = 2) and the damage from Dev's iron axe (9) you will find that kier only takes 2 damage, meaning kier does resist more damage, taking 1 heart of damage where dev takes 1.5 hearts, giving kier a marginal advantage in the fight.

The protection enchantment still applied. You took two and a half hearts from an axe crit. It was more like a quarter diamond beat a full diamond, which is not nearly as big of a gap

He actually does have armor, the protection 4 protects from 60% of any incoming damage regardless of the armor.

The prot 4 enchantments were still working lol, that’s why kier lost the fight, even without the armor itself giving protection, the prot 4 enchantment still did, that’s why his diamond axe only dealt 2 damage lol

14:13 if you pause at the right time on one frame you can see kier mining up just as they were talking about being in the e same cave and mining up in deepslate because the game bugged and didn't load in the blocks

I have no idea how no one pointed this out, but that fake Armor was definitely providing protection. When he first killed kier in full iron i didn't think much of it because he was just running away and didn't get any hits off. But in the second time when kier was in full diamond, he took 1 and a half hearts max from charged hits and half a heart from incomplete hits, from a diamond axe. I think the Armor being fake was completely true, however the protection 4 enchantment on all pieces was completely real and was what protected him in the fights. One piece of prot 4 with no Armor protection is very slightly better than iron. So it was basically like he was wearing full iron, so placebo did play a large role, just not as large as people think

When the entire crew uploads on the same day...

I'm confused tho. How did kier's axe do so little damage to you when you technically had no armor? With no armor, a crit from a wooden axe does like half your health, but in your fight it did like 2 hearts maybe. So was it even fake?

This video still doens't change the fact that if every ant in the world decided to work together, there would be 2.5 million ants for every human. And if the cocroaches joined them, there would be seven cocroaches per person.

The power of their "friendship" just somehow keeps them together and its just so entertaining 🤣

just an fyi, while the netherite armor didnt give off any defence, the protection enchantment still works regardless, same with the sharp axe. In conclusion the fight against kier in the start wasnt completely humiliating, tho he still got clapped by someone witch much weaker gear

It's not much weaker armor, only slightly weaker, Dev's armor reduces 64%, and Kier's armor reduces 71% of damage when it's not a crit, and 66% damage when crit.

​@@enderdrane Only in theory does Diamond Armor block 80%. In practice, there's the toughness system. When you take damage, you are treated as having 0.5 less armor points for every 1 damage which you would have taken had you been wearing no armor, to a minimum of 20% your actual amount of armor points. This is why Kier's Diamond Armor only reduces Dev's Diamond Axe hits by 71% and crits by 66.5% as opposed to the theoretical 80%. It is worth noting that Diamond Armor has armor toughness points, which reduce the impact on damage reduction caused by the toughness system. Damage reduction caused by the Protection enchantment is not affected by the toughness system. This means that Dev's fake OP armor was applying a flat 64% damage reduction to all forms damage no matter how much it was supposed to deal (even if armor points wouldn't have reduced it).

Actually, i think even though there was no armor bars, the prot still took effect because there is no way to stop the enchantments on the items. Like how if you put prot on an elytra in creative mode, the prot will take effect even though its an elytra. Same goes for the axe, it was doing the same amount of damage as a birch door with sharpness 5

Although it is enchanted with sharp 5, the axe has an attribute that makes the damage to be less

I think it was a fake axe, if you noticed the attack speed, even it was the same as punching.

oh also if it was a sharp 5 netherite axe than it would 2 shot anyone with iron armor but in the video we see that Kier survived several hits before dying

The protection values from the full prot IV makes devs armor only slightly weaker than kier's diamond, and not to mention the netherite axe that had sharp V is essentially just a Sharp V fist (2.5 dmg fist) with the attack speed of a fist being that of 2 with roughly 2.5 attacks per second. Meaning there is about 6.25 dmg per second or 3.125 hearts per second
