As much as I think they shouldn't remove modding on bedrock I can kinda understand why they might want to do it because with mods comes hacks and mojang probably want to try to remove hackers from bedrock as mostly people on mobile and console will play it as they probably don't have enough money for a computer which is understandable. So it could be a good change but on the other hand, it could also be a bad one.

the thing is people can and will, still hack it, yes it makes it a little harder but no game is hack free.

As a bedrock and java player, if they ever try to affect bedrock texture packs that change like blocks, environment, sfx, UI and other stuff, im leaving bedrock.

Minecraft bedrock server software are dead all non featured servers are dead without the pdb

@@Felipe-rn1gf it’s really not, the plug-in that allows bedrock to join Java is for 1 a JAVA plug-in, 2 it’s not editing the files of bedrock in any way, 3 it’s a PACKET translator, it’s all networking & shit on the back end nothing touches your client.

man, bedrock edition is getting worse every update, just because it's the version that microsoft fully possesses. their only goal is to get the more money possible, and they just don't care about bedrock community's feelings. that's why I highly prefer java, where microsoft doesn't have any power. at least we, java players, are still free. and good luck for the Amethyst project, I really hope that they will find a way out of this. Modding clients are actually really popular. 10s of thousands of ppl use them. That aside, thank you for talking about this. As a bedrock player, I think I can say on the behalf of most of my fellow BE players that we are beyond the point of caring about what Mojang does. They suck. This change was also most likely pushed by Microsoft, not Mojang. Ik the Mojang devs probably hated doing this, and were most likely forced to by the higher ups from Microsoft. From a buisness standpoint, this is also a very very dumb idea. The goal should be to please the consumer, but I think Microsoft is betting on the fact that they can ride out any backlash they get like they have every other time they made a terrible change to the game.

Bedrock also needs a mod launcher which uses a completely different type of program to code, so you can launch minecraft and also have modding indipendent , but microsoft sucks so they might sue the owner

You could theoretically create your own system for bedrock modding and serverside modding

while i do agree that with addons being universal, there are things that makes it harder, the arch for windows android is different and most minecraft client-side mod requires a .dll to work which android cannot use unless someone somehow made a translator which i doubt will take a short amount of time.

Bedrock is a pita & I only run java servers for the extended family kids, constantly updating via version & geyser to enable access to console players. I've not had any positive experience with it

It's been harsh for bedrock users but not for me

My main issue with Java Edition is ironically the ability to update mods The more mods you use the longer it will take to update your modpack and or modded server and currently we have an anarchy state where several modloaders compete with each other rather than working together to create the right universal modloader. But that's not all. Getting the people together to combine their mods into 1 via one shared workspace is pretty much impossible, so every mod needs to be updated seperately And the main issue with that is Java's dependency of mods, which makes it UHC to experience your mods in the newest version. An addon is the equivalent of a datapack, but it's superior bc it can add stuff like a mod (blocks, entities, etc.) while being as easily made and updated like a datapack and works on every platform as well (if done right ofc) So addons are fake mods but exactly what we need and it's awesome That's why I have chosen bedrock edition. But my main pro point for bedrock is it's programming language being C++. Sorry for the novel text btw, lol.

Alright so first things first a modloader is fabric or forge there is no competition, they’re both used for similar things and quite frankly dont matter which you use. Now by modloader I’m guessing you mean Minecraft launchers like curseforge or modrinth which, yes their purpose is for launching modded clients (tho a lot of people just run vanilla and use a fabric pack for fps gains) but they are not “modloaders”. Now as for a universal launcher you can check out atlauncher, not to be confused with tlauncher that a rat. Atlauncher allows you to download mods from both modrinth and curseforge (without having all the ads and bloatware curseforge installs) & you can also download mods from other places right on the launcher. Ironically using this launcher also makes updating mods a breeze, when a pack has an update you can just press update, or if you need a new version of a specific mod it’s so easy to reinstall a new version. Edit: also as you stated already addons are like data packs, they don’t physically add things into the game they manipulate functions already in the game, that being said you can’t add entirely new things such as just enough items for example, that’s a custom ui within the inventory that can be interacted with to show you recipes, drops, & other information about modded items, blocks, or mobs. It would be impossible to add something of that degree in bedrock. Even “ports” of Java mods are severely lacking compared to their counterparts on Java, the create mod is a good example as well as tinkers construct.

@@Urbanstormm With modloaders I mean Forge, Fabric and the others which names I forgot, sorry. But how is them having their own mods each not competition? It literally makes it harder to play Fabric mods for Forge and currently I think still impossible to play forge mods on Fabric but now new modloaders are introduced with once again their own mods, so the modding community is splitting currently and you seriously call that no issue? Also, don't you need the mod author to update the mod, bc otherwise you or better said this launcher would just make changes to the copyrighted file Afaik addons can indeed add custom ui's, addons are ungodly underrated by the Java Community. Look, I love Java, I really do, but I love bedrock more, bc Bedrock has more potential than Java

@@Vortex_5077 the only two modloaders are forge and fabric, & most forge mods have ports to fabric already. Forge is mainly for mods 1.19 and lower, fabric was made for newer versions which have massive performance increases including loading times, ram allocation, & overall fps is a lot better then in forge. Same reason people use optifine for old mc versions & sodium for newer ones, forge & optifine are simply outdated for the hardware & technologies we have today not to mention game has changed a lot over time. So it’s not a competition. Edit: as for the mod author thing you stated, I mean when a developer pushes an update to a mod or modpack it’s simple to update & you won’t have any issues with compatibility or data loss in your worlds.

Tbh, who cares about bedrock “mods” they’re terrible & can’t hardly be called mods. The pdp “symbols” are pointers pointing to a specific function in the game, without the pdp file they can’t find the specific functions they need to manipulate in order to create mods.
