On bedrock edition, the jukebox allows the record to exit a jukebox into a hopper once the music stops playing. This may also be true on Java edition snapshot.

The hopper will take out the disc automatically, it just waits until the disc has finished playing! You can make automatic, shuffling, looping music machines now!

The cherry groves are so pretty, and I can't wait to decorate with the wood! And the pink petals placement-amazing!! I was initially disappointed it had candle placing mechanics as you could never escape the grid... But then!! No!! It changes based on direction faced!! Fantastic!

I love the idea of more "ancient" creatures in Minecraft and also the happy sound from the Sniffer is absolutely adorable

If you want a more fleshed out archaeology loot, it shouldn't share the same one as Sniffers, that's only a detriment to a Sniffer's use and just feels like "we run out of ideas" kind of thing. Give it its own loot, how bout a new upgrade template (not trim template) for weapons instead, or something other than taking away Sniffer's job.

Oh man I hope they do fun weird stuff with the new seeds and flowers. It's fine if they new flowers are just pretty, but it'd be SUPER cool if they had weird magical properties and could be used in potions. Imagine an XP poppy that when harvested at full ripeness gave an XP boost, or the torchflower actually emmitting light, or a creeping vine that glittered in darkness.

The reason the record isn't being automatically taken out with the hopper is because the jukebox is giving out a redstone signal, locking the hopper.

This is just a snapshot of course. We saw that the archaeology was unfinished so the flowers are probably unfinished too.

It would be cool if the clay pots acted a unique storage container. Perhaps you could store up to a stack of an item in there by putting it in the center while crafting, and then to get it out you have to break it! Useful for adventure maps, adding some functionality to having clay pots in themed builds, and just really dope.

@@user-tzzglsstle585e38 True, but I was thinking about how open ended the crafting recipe would be. No other crafting recipe in the game costs more than one item from a stack. So it might be difficult for them to make a crafting recipe that can take any amount of any item in the game. But then again, chests can be crafted with any combination of wood, and buckets are left behind in crafting, so maybe it wouldn't be too bad.

I see pink and I immediately think that Stress will love the cherry wood--and Bdubs is gonna love the horse mechanics update!

Xisuma, hoppers will remove discs from a jukebox once the song has ended, so this can be used to create looping jukeboxes or a timer of sorts depending on the length of the track.

The cherry biome could benefit from bunny spawns and cherries dropping from the leaves, like apples from oaks

The birch forest bit was particularly egregious to me just because they showed it off as a major part of the wild update, but backpedaled into "Oh why did you think that was actually being worked on? we never said that... we just showed it side by side with other things we were working on"

I am in love with this update!! I would absolutely love if either the pink petals or an additional flower carpet block could be stacked and the normal leaf/petal blocks generate on the ground so there can be nice pink piles for atmosphere

Would really love a pink grass block for the cherry Grove, but I'm just glad more pink blocks are being added in general~

the desert has many uses; villages, temples and lots of lava meanwhile Savanna only has villages, and jungles only have jungle temples which are outdated and pretty unrewarding the original video of archaeology back in Minecraft Live caves & cliffs had more features than they've shown rn

i wish they made pot breaking sounds like in other games, if you changed the loot table they could be really good for adventure maps

A small feature that I love in this update is that bamboo wood and cherry wood have different sounds than the other wood. It makes them feel much more unique, like with the warped and crimson stems. I hope they continue this with other wood types that they may or may not add in the future

They should add suspicious soil as a dirt type found near jungle temples. That would be easy to add in and would be really awesome. Also Azalea wood should be pastel purple it would match the pink so well!!

Ngl all I wanted was more trees and were getting Cherry Blossom so it’s a win for me

I saw Podzol in the “sniffable” blocks. You can combine a spruce/podzol farm from Ilmango and use the podzol and a conveyor to produce more podzol for the sniffers to sniff. You could even supply the conveyor with a block storage and a timer to get the most use out of the area that’s being sniffed

1:30 A hopper does in fact take the disk out the bottom. Just, while the disc is playing the jukebox emits a signal of 15, so the hopper is locked. A hopper *minecart* can get around that, or just wait for the disc to finish.

I feel like the desert well should also have 3 distinct pottery shards that can be found there, it keeps all pots feeling unique and makes it more worth it to find wells

Yeah. If you notice, there’s a little part of the texture near the brush part itself that looks like a bit of copper. Why isn’t it used in the recipe? Also, I think using feathers instead of string would make a lot more sense. Not only that, but we already have so many recipes that require string. We have very little that require feathers.

Not to mention there is just… so… much… COPPER. I feel it should work like iron and gold, and only drop one with no fortune. And keeping the 1 block to 4 chiseled block in a stone cutter means you still have plenty to build with, not to mention it’s ore spawns are more common the iron and gold (or at least it feels like it) I build with copper, and I only mine copper if it gets in my way, and I STILL have a shulker full of copper blocks I don’t know what to do with.

I think the biggest thing is that the leaves are a bit too solid and opaque in comparison to other leaves. Especially as cherry blossoms are rather small flowers I feel like the leaves should be a bit more transparent.

My personal preference would have been to have the cherry wood be less pink and closer to reddish (like IRL cherry wood), but this is definitely different from all the other woods. The mangrove already "stole" the red wood space

Pink terracotta is a weird tan, magenta glazed terracotta is unsuitable for decoration, we have two pretty pink coral blocks but their utility is hampered by needing to be near water, purpur is kind of pink but it’s also hideous. It’s annoying to borderline offensive that we don’t have pink blocks. Pink is a very popular color, this needed to have been rectified years and years ago but at least they’re doing it now.

Yeeeaaaaahhh… I like pink sometimes but it’s hard to find a wood to go with it. Good thing is that pink concrete and pink terracotta actually look pretty good together, but yes I am definitely excited for more pink!

Pink petals 5ever. I recall Scar talking about how it would be great if the 1-block flowers could cluster like candles, and he's right, and lo and behold, it can work! Love that the particles fall from the leaves, wherever the leaves are placed. My current bamboo-remodeled village house needs some roof upgrades tomorrow, I can tell. I may not personally go nuts with use of the pink cherry wood, but it should look really nice with mangrove's red and pale birch.

Adding sus sand to the desert well is such a nice way to add some more unique functionality to that structure.

How? I thought it wouldn't work like that because there was no way to tell when the song was finished and that you could edit discs to go on for a really long time. If they just added that, does that mean you could have perfectly timed sequences by adjusting the lengths of discs through datapacks?

for the sniffers, since they normally don't go to the same block twice, you could make a big paddock for them to wonder, like you'd see in irl farmlands and such, where the heards of animals are allowed to wonder all around the paddocks freely, and of course you can still breed them for babies so they can just do the same process again, just thought this would be a cool idea

finally! a use for the well! love the upggraded structures :D

I think introducing some new archeological structures, that you can find varying across the world, both underground and above ground, would be an amazing addition to 1.20. Their theme this year seems to be *Exploration and Expression* so it would fit quite well. What they have done so far is amazing though and has definitely rekindled my hopes for 1.20!

12:07 the archer pottery shard kind of looks right if you're going to see it from the right to left, because the arrows tip like one on the rights seems to be its feathers but pixelated, just my assumption. And it seems to me that the bow and arrow is on top of each other as if its being displayed and the arrow is not loaded.

The jukebox emits redstone which locks the hopper below. If you want to take it out you either need to wait for the song to finish, at which point it is taken out automatically, or you need to use a hopper minecart.

My only complaint about cherry blossoms is that the biome is a little too small and for the new sniffer plant, I feel like it should give off light since it’s called a torch flower

As you saw Xisuma located a super small cherry grove, and then a medium size. This used to happen all the time with previous biomes, where a map-microscopic Savannah generates between a desert and a jungle. So, suffice to say, the groves might as well be like mangrove swamps; sometimes small, sometimes big. You might find an entire hill coated with them.

I like the idea of the cherry blossom tree particles, but I think it should fall slower and in an angle to represent the petals being carried by the wind

The cherry blossom trees look really nice in Minecraft, I remember back in the day installing mods to get them, I’m glad they’re finally making their way to the real game

Cherry blossom forests are probably going to be one of the best biomes in the game when it's finally released. Though I wished cherry trees actually dropped cherries which can be used to make heart shaped cookies and other new food items.

@@qzimyion that was the original wild cherry tree. Which you cant find anymore really. Aswell as that they are not good to eat. Besides the size. They dont taste good at all.

I was watching silent whispers cover of the snapshot and he was sable to place a flower pot onto the pottery top, almost like an obscure way to add decorations on top of the pot

The sniffer is so beautifully animated! We need an overhaul for older mobs

Idk man, I feel like reanimating a lot of the older mobs just feels wrong. It's the same way they didn't mess with diamonds. Would just feel weird if they reanimated stuff like creepers and spiders. They've got a lot of old charm in their simpler movement in my opinion.

@@Nykomilevery mod that reanimates mobs goes well (several spooky spider mods, fresh animations) but every mod that reanimates the PLAYER looks really cursed 😬

Because this update is largely centered around the desert I am hoping and praying that we get the palm trees and a desert oasis added. I also have hoped for years that when weather is happening there would be sandstorms in the desert.

So excited for the interaction entity! Something we’ve been waiting years for

the larger pots can be stacked ontop of each other which is cool. like a 3/4 block pillar

I wish they made it so that pots get affected by gravity tbh And when they fall from a given height, they crack into shards

That'd be cool but I think if they float then it gives a whole ton more potential for building/decor, for example you could make it look like theyre hanging from chains

Those Particle effects on the leaves is really cool! It'll be a nice variant to the spore blossom. For Pearl's sake Hermit Craft needs to add these ASAP SHe's been putting particle effects all over her base!

I would love to be able to plant a tree sapling into a decorated pot and have it grow into a smaller version of its corresponding tree, around 2 or 3 blocks tall.

I'm REALLY hoping a future update they release is a massive biome update. I would LOVE to see tons of new forest biomes, like redwoods and pines. Basically they should just implement Biomes'o'Plenty.

The Savana update notes from past biome votes (winners got priority, losers would still be added simply not first priority) Berry Bushes, Foxes, Campfires with im gonna be honest no changes to Taigas besides the foxes & berry bushes LOL Mountains + Goats + Powder snow won their vote that gave us the 1.17-1.19 span of updates with allll of the generation updating Frogs and mangrove trees/swamps were actually the first biome losers to be implemented So Baobab trees, ostriches, meerkats, termite mounds(?) are all at least mention by Mojang in an official capacity state of looking forward to I'd love an Autumnal biome tho ngl and hope they add it since Minecraft Legends shows it as a biome and I hope that's enough proof of aesthetic that it can get into the base game, fingers crossed

It'd be cool if the pots acted like an early-game shulker box, they could have an inventory of 6 slots or so that could be picked up and carried but not placed by dispensers

Absolutly. I will riot if they don't add this. This would entirely fix the early game no inventory space thing. Screw bundles those are dumb, we want pot shulkers!

8:55 I am so glad they add this! Now the sniffer will be a mob you need to keep around. Also I like that they need new blocks, they truly are grazers.

Regarding the jukebox and hopper, it does remove the disc when the disc ends, it tanes a moment after it ends but it does come out of the jukebox into the hopper

These are all really cool additions to the game! Love the recap videos man.

I honestly really like the Decorated Pot UX when interacting with bare hands vs. with a tool. I think instinctively it just makes sense. Probably a little harder to get used to this mechanic but it's not like you get punished for accidently breaking the pot, so it's cool.

I wonder if silk touch tools would let you pick up the pot without smashing it. That would make sense to me, but I guess it wouldn't make a difference since you could just hold anything that wasn't a tool and get the same effect.

@@masonphillips4744 According to slicedlime's video, that is true! Silk Touch tools won't break the pot. I agree with you, it does make sense as well

I love the new use for the desert temples and wells. Really glad to see old structures being updated.

the pink petals now give way for all leaf types to have dedicated leaf piles, like oak leaf piles, birch leaf piles, etc. And in the same placing functionality as the pink petals.

Hoppers CAN take the disk out of the jukebox but only after the disk is done playing. This is because the jukebox now emits a redstone signal without a comparator when it plays, it acts like a redstone block and prevents the hoper from doing anything. When it is done playing, the signal turns off and the hopper takes the disk.

Compared to the wild update, this is tremendously better in every way.

The wild update had sculk sensors and the warden which are both cooler than most of that's announced here. The difference is entirely in your expectations.

Archeology was supossed to be on Caves and Cliffs aswell, so this update is basicallly Caves and Cliffa part 4

These are all awesome changes! Especially loving the new particle effects from the cherry blossom leaves and how the pink petals can be placed on the ground like candles (I'm with Scar on that: all flowers should be able to be placed like candles, so you can have a much fuller flower bed when you want it). I hope they add that functionality to more flowers! The torchflower DEFINITELY has to give off light. Come on. You can't just put "torch" in the name and not have it let off at least some light. The new sniffer animations are so cute! I'm glad they changed them up from the original previews we saw. I'm still not completely sure about the density of pixels on their texture, though It's not so jarring that I couldn't get used to it. I'm glad they fixed the horse breeding too. Horses are underrated, and this will make it so much easier to get a good one!

oh my god FINALLY theyre adding this biome! :D i see it in so many mods, and it fits so well that i always wondered why it wasnt in the game. its SO pretty and pink is my favorite color! im so happy:)

Hoppers do work with jukeboxes, its just that they dont take them out while they're playing because they're putting out a redstone signal, but will automatically take them out when its finished playing. If you want to stop the jukebox from playing part-way through a song, use a hopper minecart.

I'm kinda hoping the pots can hold water like a cauldron. Maybe they can let you fill bottles from them? Or let you put different ingredients to make drinks, and maybe these drinks could give high hunger regen but low saturation

Man it would be so cool if fossils were archaeology sites and you could dig up suspicious sand there to reveal it. There could be a whole camp there similar to those old dig sites in mc live 2020.

yo X, I was so excited about the jukebox changes I immediately hopped into a snapshot world to mess around with it and I think you'll be as happy as I am to learn that hopper carts can and do take discs out of jukeboxes! and at any point in the playing song too.

As far as the farming of the new seeds go would think about a blockrotation redstone build with pistons. Since they have a 8 minute cooldown it could be possible to make a real slow hopper clock to the grass grow back naturally

Oh my god, dessert wells finally have a real use! I appreciate the new added benefits of these old dessert structures.

The leave blocks emitting particles that create the leaf carpets are really cool and unique, but I wonder if having a specific leaf block dedicated to the emitting of particles and having a "base" leave block that doesn't emit might be better potentially, especially since it's been done before with the flowering axuelia tree with having two separate leaf types in a tree

I really hope they give a small particle effect to the torch blossom. We need more particle-y things. I also really like how they kinda remind me of modded flowers. I think it could make story telling really fun

It'd be interesting if you could craft pots with bundles inside, so that when you break the pot into shards, it also drops all the items stored inside otherwise inobtainable. Would be great for adventure maps

It would be cool if you could make different coloured pots. Perhaps by crafting the pottery shards around a terracotta block you can set the pots base colour dependent on the terracotta's colour. Also, more shard types and dig site locations please.

Could also be cool if crafting a plain pot with a glazed terracotta block in the middle makes some colourful ceramics/china. Even cooler if each glazed terracotta makes a unique pot shape and design, would really expand the decorative options and help fill house interiors.

The torch flower looks really cool! I definetely agree that it should glow. I think maybe all of the ancient flowers should have some cool effect.

This update is turning out really well

The way to take discs out of jukeboxes before it ends is by pushing up a hopper minecart from below. The jukebox locks all other hoppers

If Sniffer's store sniffed block data based on coords maybe a slow flying machine that moves the sniffable blocks along with the sniffer will work?

I wish cherry blossom biomes had like very tiny rivers or creeks through the biome with lily pads on it every now and then, sometimes a small pond with fish spawning in it. My god, it would be a freaking zen garden

You can put a lot of sniffers in a moss generator with some delay so they have time to actually dig the seeds

They record a list of block positions, not anything about the type of block it was. They only remember up to 20 positions in the list; if a 21st position is going to be added, then the oldest one is removed instead and replaced by it. So there are two solutions: you either spread the sniffers out over a very large area so that they have tons of blocks to sniff, or, and Mojang is going to love this one, you take the old sniffers that have sniffed too many blocks "out to pasture" and replace them with new ones that haven't sniffed anything in the farm area yet. Think of ilmango's peaceful mode panda slime farm... yeah like that. Automated conveyor belt leading to some lava... 💀

The reason why the hopper underneath the jukebox doesn't activate, is that the jukebox is emitting a redstone signal that locks the hopper, iirc. But if similar to Bedrock, the hopper will collect the disc *after* it finished playing.
