Welcome to the July 2022 Ask Me Anything episode of Mindscape! These monthly excursions are funded by Patreon supporters (who are also the ones asking the questions). I take the large number of questions asked by Patreons, whittle them down to a more manageable size - based primarily on whether I have anything interesting to say about them, not whether the questions themselves are good - and sometimes group them together if they are about a similar topic.
Big news this week! Mindscape is working with Bold.org to sponsor a college scholarship for students interested in studying the fundamental nature of reality. Listeners can find more details and donate here: bold.org/funds/mindscape/
Our immediate goal is to raise $10,000, and I will match the first $5,000, so this shouldn’t be too hard for us here. Hopefully we can raise much more! And hopefully this will help encourage someone who might not otherwise have been able to study this kind of topic.

Over 2400 years ago, the present situation was predicted by Plato when he said "An excessive desire for liberty at the expense of everything else is what undermines democracy and leads to the demand for tyranny”. Sustainable democracies are built on freedoms with social responsibility, and an educated and informed electorate, the very things that have been engineered out of the present system by those who seek power.

There are 4 fundamental natures in the universe called "Paramartha Dharma". Those four ultimate realities are known as 28 Matter/Rupa (4 fundamental + 24 derived material forms), 52 Cetacika (52 Mental Factors/Qualities), Cita (mind moment) and Nibbana (timeless state). - The Buddha. Fortunately, I could make a theory to explain the the existence of those material and immaterial forms.

When I was a school boy, I heard that the world was supported on the back of a turtle. I asked my agriculture engineer Samskruta scholar grandfather about it. I am not sure how serious he was, but he said ‘Of course!’. Not satisfied, I asked ‘So, what is that turtle standing on?’. Maybe trying to get rid of the many more questions from me, he said ‘On another turtle’. After a minute of this, he said ‘Listen, the bottom turtle is on a bad place where troublesome kids will be sent to for asking too many questions about people’s beliefs’. I have used this kind of stories freely when confronting irrational people, saying ‘Why would you not allow me the same freedom that you like from me for yours?’. Seems to work occasionally!!

Thanks & I look forward to your response on this.

I’m at 17:09 into the video and already there are several discrepancies. First the US is a constitutional federal republic, set up to recognize the inalienable rights of the individual. While we use democratic processes majority rule is not the law of the land. There are two branches within the legislative branch the House & the Senate, laws need to be approved by both, then by the president, which can be challenged by the state, or the people via the US Supreme Court. The Federal government is limited in its power by the constitution, while the States and the people are empowered by it. The constitution combined with the Declaration of Independence & Bill of Rights are written in such a way as to prevent the federal, state, & local govt’s from infringing on the rights of the people. More importantly it prevents the PEOPLE from infringing upon their own rights.

Theory of Everything solution: [Short answer] swap from Newton to Leibniz as our fundamental blueprint of the universe. [Long answer] I contend Gottfried Leibniz was correct about the fundamentals of our contingent universe and he just lacked 2022 verbiage and Hamilton's 4D quaternion algebra. More importantly is that humanity chose Isaac Newton's "real" universe, calculus, gravity, etc. This was a big mistake. We need to correct this problem. Finishing what Leibniz started (with the intention of destroying what Newton started): [Math; Geometry 0D point] A point is a 0-dimensional mathematical object which can be specified in -dimensional space using an n-tuple ( , , ..., ) consisting of. coordinates. In dimensions greater than or equal to two, points are sometimes considered synonymous with vectors and so points in n-dimensional space are sometimes called n-vectors. 1D = line, straight; two points; composite substance; matter 《0D (point) is exact location only; zero size; not a 'thing', not a 'part'; Monad》 "He is the invisible Spirit, of whom it is not right to think of him as a god, or something similar. For he is more than a god, since there is nothing above him, for no one lords it over him. For he does not exist in something inferior to him, since everything exists in him. For it is he who establishes himself. He is eternal, since he does not need anything. For he is total perfection. A being can have a relationship with a God but not the Monad as that would be a contradiction." - The Apocryphon of John, 180 AD. Monad (from Greek μονάς monas, "singularity" in turn from μόνος monos, "alone") refers, in cosmogony, to the Supreme Being, divinity or the totality of all things. The concept was reportedly conceived by the Pythagoreans and may refer variously to a single source acting alone, or to an indivisible origin, or to both. The concept was later adopted by other philosophers, such as Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, who referred to the monad as an elementary particle. [Quantum] Quark is a type of elementary particle and a fundamental 'constituent' of matter. Quarks combine to form composite particles called hadrons, the most stable of which are protons and neutrons, the components of atomic nuclei. What is another word for quark? fundamental particle, elementary particle. Do quarks take up space? Its defining feature is that it lacks spatial extension; being dimensionless, it does not take up space. How fast do quarks move? the speed of light [In mathematics, a tuple is a finite ordered list (sequence) of elements. An n-tuple is a sequence (or ordered list) of n elements, where n is a non-negative integer. There is only one 0-tuple, referred to as the empty tuple. An n-tuple is defined inductively using the construction of an ordered pair] 1st four dimensions are 0D, 1D, 2D, 3D ✅. 1st four dimensions are not 1D, 2D, 3D, 4D 🚫. Human consciousness, mathematically, is identical to 4D quaternion algebra with w, x, y, z being "real/necessary" (0D, 1D, 2D, 3D) and i, j, k being "imaginary/contingent" (1D xi, 2D yj, 3D zk). 1D-9D 'contingent' universe has "conscious lifeforms" (1D xi, 2D yj, 3D zk)..."turning" 'time'. [In mathematics, a versor is a quaternion of norm one (a unit quaternion). The word is derived from Latin versare = "to turn" with the suffix -or forming a noun from the verb (i.e. versor = "the turner"). It was introduced by William Rowan Hamilton in the context of his quaternion theory.] [Math; 4D quaternion algebra] A quaternion is a 4-tuple, which is a more concise representation than a rotation matrix. Its geo- metric meaning is also more obvious as the rotation axis and angle can be trivially recovered. How do you make a quaternion? You can create an N-by-1 quaternion array by specifying an N-by-3 array of Euler angles in radians or degrees. Use the euler syntax to create a scalar quaternion using a 1-by-3 vector of Euler angles in radians. "Turn" to what, you might ask. 5D is the center of 1D-9D. The breadth (space-time). All 'things' and 'parts' are drawn to the center, the whole. (The Dawn -Book of Cain on the creation of the contingent universe) [Contingent Universe]: 3 sets of 3 dimensions: (1D-3D/4D-6D/7D-9D) The illusory middle set (4D, 5D, 6D) is temporal. Id imagine we create this middle temporal set similar to a dimensional Venn Diagram with polarized lenses that we "turn" by being conscious. Which requires energy. 3D height symmetry/entanglement with 9D absorption is why we are "consumers", we must consume/absorb calories, and sleep, to continue "to turn" 'time' (be alive). 1D-3D spatial set/7D-9D spectral set overlap creating the temporal illusion of 4D-6D set. According to theoretical physicist Carlo Rovelli, time is an illusion: our naive perception of its flow doesn't correspond to physical reality. Indeed, as Rovelli argues in The Order of Time, much more is illusory, including Isaac Newton's picture of a universally ticking clock. Does time exist without space? Time 'is' as space 'is' - part of a reference frame in which in ordered sequence you can touch, throw and eat apples. Time cannot exist without space and the existence of time does require energy. Time, then, has three levels, according to Leibniz: (i) the atemporality or eternality of God; (ii) the continuous immanent becoming-itself of the monad as entelechy; (iii) time as the external framework of a chronology of “nows” The difference between (ii) and (iii) is made clear by the account of the internal principle of change. The real difference between the necessary being of God and the contingent, created finitude of a human being is the difference between (i) and (ii).] 1D, 2D, 3D = spatial composite (line, width, height) 4D, 5D, 6D = temporal illusory (length, breadth, depth) 7D, 8D, 9D = spectra energies (continuous, emission, absorption) Symmetry/entanglement: 1D, 4D, 7D line, length, continuous 2D, 5D, 8D width, breadth, emission 3D, 6D, 9D height, depth, absorption Conclusion: Humanity needs to immediately swap from "Newton" to "Leibniz". Our calculus is incorrect (Leibniz > Newton): What is the difference between Newton and Leibniz calculus? Newton's calculus is about functions. Leibniz's calculus is about relations defined by constraints. In Newton's calculus, there is (what would now be called) a limit built into every operation. In Leibniz's calculus, the limit is a separate operation. Our Universal Constants have convoluted answers. Leibniz's Law of Sufficient Reason fixes this in a day. (FUNDAMENTALS > specifics)

I wonder if time actually might move backwards even on a macro level. Consciousness isn't built to be able to process this. It wouldn't be like watching a movie in reverse. That assumes a perspective outside the movie. If all of the universe were moving backward in time, we would all un-experience things. We wouldn't see water turning into ice; We would un-see that process, and we would have no memory of it. Like the many worlds, this idea can't be tested (at least I have no idea how you could), and if time actually has two directions in its dimentionality, then it would give us many chances to go down many paths (many worlds) as time flowed back and forth. We just can't be aware of it. To my mind this is no more crazy or illogical than many worlds is.

Hi, Doc! OK WTF jus' happn? Dang... i guess CapLOCK wuz on... wasn't that YT unexpectedly kicked-me out, lol. In&out 2day, working on an electric, wheeled chair- zipping-it-up a bit with a higher gear, jackin'-up the voltage, and other tricks i've developed for hot-rodding used, electric motors. Well i had an inspired thought after stopping to listen to you in earnest, something about Dessider space (not sure on the spelling), about the heat transfer of spacetime itself- even at the lowest possible temp- can never be zero- which IMHO could be visualized as the same source of energy Casimir force, the Higg's field of the quantum molasses that give rise to mass, the entropy only high due to the 4D connection over an infinite amount of time being set as the parameter for when any one given point within that sort of imagined, fixed volume of space might be measured. Well, don't want to waste ur time, just an amateur and life-long student of physics, but of any branch that might catch my fancy. I've been thinking about black holes a lot recently, especially since Hawking passed and i realized how much i've always enjoyed second guessing the greatest minds of all time, testing what i can with applied machinery, or merely speculate on the logical progression of a science, or any, one theory of anyone- especially ones not testable- just to see if i can speculate out a more acceptable, yet alternative, equally untestable theory (but maybe a more rational and therefore more believable, backstory (set of axioms, suppositions, or better supporting evidence that IS testable. Particularly on the search for a physical theory of electricity that better satisfies my credulity by best explaining some new phenomena that i've observed, but not had the time to fully test, reproduce, or share with any other for their own testing. Well, i just wanted to say hi and thanks for the interesting and inspiring video. I'll go back and finish listening to this video from the beginning, so i can better absorb the delightful 'scienceness' of your delivery and style. Cheers!

GPT-3 has been implemented in many projects already, including DALL-E 2 (this one is particularly impressive) and protein folding projects (Which has also yielded actual tangible results). It learns by analyzing massive amounts of relevant data and searching for patterns in it. In a nutshell.

You admit the Democratic party suffers from this more than the Republicans but instead of vehemently calling for a term limit like you did with supreme court you said "we've gotta find ways to do something about this" as if term limits won't immediately solve the problem.

8:57 I got into a huge argument with my high-school philosophy teacher over this exact thing. And a poor grade. My argument was that colour can be defined by reference to a particular wavelength of light. His argument was 'no you can't. shut up. The QUALIA... THE QUALIA.' I've really never understand the whole "the redness of red" thing. I see red things all time. It's fine. Some things are red. I don't understand what the big deal is. Qualia people talk like just seeing colours (especially red for whatever reason) is a religious or orgasmic experience. I don't know how they get anything done. Colours are EVERYWHERE.

Seems like you just don’t understand the issue. Wavelength is a measurable property, but what it’s like to see red is not. Your poor grade was well earned.

However, you are very naive if you believe both parties are equally culpable or even anything remotely approaching that. One party may in fact simply play lip service to most issues and may be beholden to special interest groups & corporate donations. However, the other party, now lives in fuckin la la land year round. As Dr Carroll alluded to, they believe in conspiracy theories that are beyond nonsensical... For fuck sake, close to a quarter of the party embraces Q-anon & their most successful fund raising members are the likes of Margorie Taylor Greene & Lauren Boebert. Like it or not we have a binary system and until that changes, it's choice A or B for the foreseeable future. I, and I am certain many other people, are delighted that individuals such as Dr Carroll are breaking the unspoken taboo, and are speaking up in non political arenas. You say "stick to the science." That becomes impossible if we don't have a democracy to do so in.

An Angstrom of a particle is still 1D-9D contingent universe. Composite substances. 0D (point) is exact metaphysical location only. Zero size. Non-composite substance. Not a thing. Not a part. Monad. Soul. Megatonnage of the purest irony in the symbol of physics being the symbol of metaphysics. [1st dimension] 0D = (point); non-composite substance; 'represented' by a dot. [2nd dimension] 1D = line; two points; beginning and ending (see 1D, 4D, 7D Symmetry); composite substance; physical 1st four dimensions are 0D, 1D, 2D, 3D ✅. 1st four dimensions are not 1D, 2D, 3D, 4D 🚫. Humans, mathematically, are identical to 4D algebra unit (possibly Scalar) quaternions with w, x, y, z being (0D, 1D, 2D, 3D) and i, j, k being contingent (1D xi, 2D yj, 3D zk). 'Time' is an illusion. 1D-9D 'contingent' universe has "conscious lifeforms" (1D xi, 2D yj, 3D zk)..."turning" 'time'. We're unit quaternion "turners", here. Our 0D (metaphysical) point is each of our exact location only. Incorruptible. Invincible. Eternal. Very much not affected in any way by the totality of the 1D-9D contingent universe. 3 sets of 3 dimensions. The illusory middle set (4D, 5D, 6D) is temporal. Id imagine we metaphysically create this middle set similar to a dimensional Venn Diagram with polarized lenses.
