Minds on Math, Dr. Stanislas Dehaene, November 30, 2022

Ғылым және технология

Minds on Math, co-sponsored by the Lab for the Developing Mind at New York University (director, Dr. Moira Dillon) and by the National Museum of Mathematics and supported by the National Science Foundation, features accomplished scholars in developmental psychology, cognitive science, mathematics, and education, who conduct research on how our minds and brains learn and appreciate math and related fields.
Title: Geometry: The Language of the Human Brain
Abstract: All over the world, since prehistory, humans of all cultures have produced geometric drawings such as parallel lines, squares, rectangles, circles, or spirals. No other animal ever produces anything remotely similar. Why is the human brain so keenly attracted to geometric regularities?
Join Dr. Stanislas Dehaene, Chair of Experimental Psychology at the Collège de France and Director of the INSERM-CEA Cognitive Neuroimaging Unit, as he shares his work investigating the brain circuits that support mathematics in all humans, from young infants and uneducated adults to professional mathematicians. In addition, Dr. Dehaene will use recent brain-imaging data to discuss the nature of mathematics, its origins in evolution, and its relations to music and to natural language.

Hi Professor. In one of your presentations, one could identify the mathematicians as you had stated area of working plus superior ability and I think also departments. I asked my supervisor then if this is alright. She didnt think so... but for conveniemve van someone use the open access day when they are at a University for a tiny proposal they are making? Do you think older humans can evolve too? I wanted to apply to your University but we would probably clash. But I respect you as an authority on the matter about embodied mathematics.
