The dutch band brainbox featured jan akkerman, the guitarist who later became worldfamous in the band focus

I went to Austria in December and when I could, I hit a few record stores in different cities. Most of them had a section actually called "Krautrock". I'm sure they are cool with it and are not offended. I was hunting Klaus Schulze records. I snagged a copy of Richard Schneider Jr. "Dreamlike Land". I NEVER see that record in the states.

Here's hoping no one is offended by my use of the term Krautrock. Nice score on the "Dreamlike Land" LP! Not only do we not see that one in the States, we rarely see it overseas. It's obviously desperately in need of an official reissue!

Hardly surprising - since the term "Krauts" refers to Germans, not to Austrians.

@@AndyMangele In WWII, the Austrians were combined with the Germans and were all "Krauts" to the American GI. I can see Austrians being like, "Hey we ain't Germans!" LOL.

I'm a german and I can confirm: Krautrock is not a Schimpfwort here. It's recognized as a legitimate music genre just like everywhere else.

I can't say that we've ever bought either, but we'll keep our eyes peeled for both on our next trip!

About the Armand record you got there he is a Dutch artist , Hes a proper product from the hippie area in the 60's .... Ad Visser is also Dutch , he used to be the host on the Dutch version of top of the pops called Toppop , they had the biggest artist's on their stage , you can find a lot still on KZread Great channel you got 👍

Nah, I think the Germans have embraced the term Krautrock. I know Germans that use it also lovingly.

I think we could all do a little better to try not to offend each other. If people are offended by the word Krautrock, we can all collectively agree to use the alternative moniker...Kosmiche Musik!
